I do like this idea and challenge even if just to prove we do not need tomax everything. I have a lot of projects that may meet these limits. Here are some HV based on Space 1999: To the left; the flat top tank, to the right the eagle tank. Both have 2RCS and 5 thrusters. And the little moon buggy with 1 RCS and 4 thrusters. Based on the UFO series: The SHADO jeeps with 1 RCS and 4 thrusters. The SHADO mobiles with 1 RCS and 6 thrusters. Inspired in the ancient WW1: The Austro D PZW with 1 RCS and 4 thrusters.
And now some SV. From Space 1999, the Pilot ship. It has 2 RCS and 10 thrusters And from the UFO: The Kingfisher with 4RCS and 13 thrusters And the XV 104 with 2 RCS and 17 thrusters
Now CVs. I found out that i have plenty CV inside these rules. From Space 1999: The meta Probe, 1RCS, 8 thrusters: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=740982208 The Ultra Probe 2RCS, 11 thrusters: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=741799970 The Kaldorian ship 1RCS, 9 thrusters: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=741953030 From UFO: The B142 space probe, 3 RCS, 6 thrusters: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=719749625 The C184, 1 RCS, 13 thrusters: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=720535987 The GSP4 space probe, 3 RCS, 8 thrusters: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=724280435 The Lunar Carrier, 1 RCS, 9 thrusters: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=724915322 The NR 720, 1 RCS, 10 thrusters: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=728902591 The S.I.D. 2 RCS, 14 thrusters : http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=728939473
I love all the designs presented in this challenge, it is obvious the EGS community has a boat load of creative guys and gals. I will like to contribute with a few of my ships too, following the same philosophy of overall small designs with maximum two RCS, one or two generators, and few weapons if applicable. I try to make them practical, affordable and more or less with a decent look. Lets start with the HV. Below are three models with similar frame, one designed for a trigger-happy copilot: These are two support SV, one for general work and the other specifically designed for "Noob Support" but that can also work as a drop ship: The next two are PvE / CoOp combat SV, the one in the right for Air (or Space?) superiority and the one on the left for Attack sorties. This last one is actually good against POI´s because of the small frontal area: A few more SV designs, the one on the left is loosely based on the Battlestar Galactica Cylon Ryder, with two rocket launchers, specially designed for my friend JohnStar (Wiked Server), the other is just a basic service platform: Last but not least, the CV. Both designs have the general equipment expected (Fridge, Constructor, Kitchen, Medic, O2, etc.) can transport three - four passengers and are fast and affordable to construct, the only difference is that the one in the foreground has 18 grow plots for extended operations and a small hangar in the back for one SV and one HV: Hmmm... Edited trying to correct why the images don´t show...and a few typos
The little Mule construction support craft http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=816847500
Passenger side has a mini-fridge for the hotdogs and pop, and the dashboard is a constructor in case the park doesn't have a fire pit.
I tend to design everything I make in creative, then field test in survival. I've not done that many new designs lately since I've not been that much in the game itself during last half a year, buttttttt... About all the ships I've made so far fit well under those limits since I play only PvE and even that mostly on co-op with other people. All you really need for a survival game is something like this: My Bear-essentials ™ fleet http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=647035603 Or my standard toolkit, which I use in every survival game I play: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=647246285 Although, that last pocket cruiser II is currently above the allowed gun limits :/ You really don't need much for PvE
TIRED AND POOR..... HAH! Fastest Rocket Seat around, I say you! ;-) Armed SkyRocketSled. Now go Hunting! Small Full including CV-Base HOME-ONE. Your first (CV-)Base you ever need! One smallest possible Warp-Shuttle! WARPY. When you need a fast cheap Plan E.... E for Escape System....
4 RCS max? Ya ask a lot dude. It takes 4 RCS to get enough Torque outta a Potato with a Cockpit & Thrusters Duck Taped on. I'm also a big fan of his Giant Diamond! For the Topic: Only just found this Thread. Hope this is better late the never. This dude was Built in Survival during past MP play & I liked how it fared better then I originally thought it would... was gonna be just temporary initially, but when it proved capable of downing POI Turrets to prep them to be Assaulted & surviving, often losing only the Spotlight, sometimes not even that, I decided it was an outright keeper & outright BPed it. I may make a Revision 2 that's less Barebones but same general idea behind it someday... Spoiler: Tyrax Emergency SV Thruster Count: 12 RCS Count: 2 Front View: Even my barebones emergency stuff has to be violently armed! Right View: I've managed to lose my O2 Tank & Fridge once or twice before. Rear View: This is the end of the SV I wanna NEVER point towards the Enemy Guns. Left View: Interestingly i've not yet thus far lost my O2 Dispenser or Salami MakerMobile Constructor. Top View: This Screenie will give ya the best view of this dude's Firepower. Also note the Guts is real, having the explodable Ammo Box sitting right next to my HEAD while Flying this dude. Bottom View: The 2 Middle Landing Pads are sometimes annoying to find a Multitool Angle to reach them to repair, but I firmly believe not having them there would be a real bad idea. (Especially cause one of them is providing cover to the Ship's Core.) Stats Screen: Fun fact: This dude has ZERO Hull Blocks in its Design. Factory Spawn Resource Cost: There's times when i've wondered what it'd be like to see an entire swarm of these dude flying in formation into battle.
I made this CV back in the early testing phase of 0.6 as a cheap replacement to the prefab T1 simply because those ships were flat out dangerous by then. If you want to see it for yourself then you can get it on the steam workshop (link below). It was one of my first designs and even if my build skills are still sorely lacking this thing looked... bland, very bland. It was on the other hand very energy efficient and cheap to build. The roof was made flat so that if you wanted to use it as a base you could put 6 turrets on top. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=902296492&searchtext=refuge
My Dragongnat surely fits the bill (just one thruster and one RCS): https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=935765312 My Camel-class CV does too (it uses L thrusters for landing and main propulsion, but they're way overkill; a medium thruster in place of each is more than enough): https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=877334698 I should probably get around to updating the workshop version with my latest iteration. . . .
I have a couple that might qualify. Used to be my cheapest CV. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1128400834 It weighs in with 16 thrusters total and 2 RCS. And my cheapest HV. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1203010047
I'm thinking about a similiar challenge for capital vessels: - max 1 kT mass - no cube or brick shape - warp drive included - min 6 growing plot
This guy is my cheapest warp capable CV. No constructor, and no O2. I built this in multiplayer after starting on Ningues. Most resource nodes had been cleared, but I found a POI that was untouched and I stripped that down for all the materials. Here's the cost: Iron Ingot - 1550 Silicon Ingot - 440 Copper Ingot - 300 Cobalt Ingot - 280 Sathium Ingot - 120 Neodymium Ingot - 50 Oops! I just noticed it's missing a small piece by the rear thrusters.
Here a couple more. This is now my cheapest CV. I tip my hat off to the person who built a CV under 2000 iron. Of course, there was a lot of stuff their CV did not have, but I don't think I have it in me to design a CV that cheap. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1214351532 This next is the first vehicle I usually build for quickly getting around, with cargo capacity. I modded my "ATV" and put ramps on the sides so I could retract the ramps and easily click on the open cockpit.... There have been a few times in survival that I hopped off only to remember afterwards what a challenge it could be to get back on when hovering at max. So it needed the fix. In the process of making room for the ramps I ended up dropping a couple extra RCS, putting the HV down to the four for this challenge. [Edit: the "ATV" is called Desire, still qualifies for this challenge, but has a little cosmetic change..] http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=972580561
