The detailing work is intense: I love these "containers" Even got the edges! This ship might make a decent survival ship and of the two is, by far, my favorite - but how to add a hangar? Hmmmmm, tricky to say. Nicely done.
Hey, some people are into that. I'm just not one of 'em. Honestly, I've found it's damn near impossible to make a "rounded" CV cockpit look good, especially with armored glass. I've tried the same thing myself numerous times and always ended up hating it. Used to be I only liked the 4x3x2 "compact" cockpit, but the one on Silence has grown on me since I saw how it was used with the Zero-G Sidewinder, and now it's probably my second-favorite. Still can't bring myself to use the frowny-eyebrows one though. Would be cool if we had some "bridge" cockpit assemblies for CVs that were along the same lines as HV/SV cockpits, just bigger. Thanks Yeah, between work and 5.0 builds, not much time for "me" stuff. Though I'd be lying if I said I wasn't enjoying it - games are for fun after all! Well I dunno about total... Yep. This is why it takes me forever to build anything. "Paint, texture, paint again because the texture reverted the paint... nah, that doesn't look good, texture again, paint again..." I actually like the DaVinci better, personally. Probably the easier of the two for any kind of 'survival' use. But if you're looking for tips on refitting the Angelico, try installing elevators in the cargo containers, up to the spine (and maybe shifting some blocks around to protect the shaft better), and building them out to support a hangar door on each side. Could sacrifice the "clamps" as well and merge the arms directly into the containers too. Cargo, ammo, and additional fuel would work well on the rear 'lower' deck, growing plots and other survival utilities probably better on the upper level. Lots of possibilities and plenty of space to figure things out. Could widen the spine out if you're feeling ambitious too - if nothing else, for a little more room to add turrets. The Angelico is poorly defended and has too many blind spots, my one serious regret in the design. I just didn't feel like reworking it to beef it up.
If ya like Visibility, ya should try the Cockpit 2 sometime. (Especially in combo with FoV set at 90.) ??? I've been wanting this for ages too, for Dogfighting CV Builds. Well, to be fair, it WAS originally designed as a Freighter that'd need Escorted.
I started working on the Grub Mk2 tunnel boring machine today and I may just skip straight to the Jormungndr series. Go big or go home.
Testing it even as we speak. The ground around my build site is starting to look like swiss cheese. I need bigger drills to make something worthy of the name Jormungndr though.
If you don't get back to work, I'll post the WIP screenshots, and show the world how slack you've been.
OK Then, Don't say I didn't warn you. Spoiler: Theophilus - WIP Exterior Interior - Gunnery Stations Interior - Engine Room Some of you may recognise the shape from somewhere oh, and sorry for the spammage, just a bit of fun
Some really great moments in there - I think if they were trying to make an actual MV, rather than just fitting random gameplay clips to music, it could've turned out really awesome I accept it for what it is though, just some friends having fun with the camera on. I really liked the bit around 3:20 with the Eclipse CV lifting off (though it went on a bit too long after the fact). And there was an Angelspire in there, so that was nice too
Yea I think the group of friends just having fun made it even better. Videos like this remind me why I love this game.
There are times when dubstep is awesome... and then there are times, and I do not mind saying I think it is the majority, where it is just... a strange combination of "off" and too much and bleh. I could not even make it through the first few bits. Still. I do not want to be a jerk, I get that they are having fun. Kind of curious about co-op survival... I wonder what that is like...?
Trust me, you're not the only that can't listen to dubstep . lol I can only listen to it for a few seconds myself. It sounds like a bunch of noise after while.
That's more "chillstep" than "dubstep," but I only say that because I've heard it before in the various chill mixes I listen to at work. Honestly, not a big fan of that particular song - much prefer stuff like this. More melodic, better buildup, less ear-rape. Even so, it'd have "worked" a lot better if they'd set out to synch their clips with the song in mind. When music and motion come together, the whole is far greater than the sum of its parts - something I strive for whenever I do video work myself. (Not that I'm always successful). It's a blast. Until you strafe right around a door and your girlfriend's epic rifle guns you down from behind, because there's no setting for "friendly fire." Eh... call me a purist, but if you're gonna make a music video, focus on your cinematography, get good shots, and above all make sure things synch right. Personally I'd say that made it "worse," but I appreciate it for what it is - they're not trying to sell anything, like with the HWS trailer. I'm more critical of that one because it reminds me of those "local car dealership" ads you sometimes see on TV that were obviously made with someone's camcorder. Looks bad and reflects poorly on the maker. Totally different scope.
So I can't make it as big as I would like. They put limits on the number of drill modules you can have and they only have so much range but if I'm going to call something Jormungndr I can at least make it look like something that would gnaw the roots of the world.
