It does not effect the voxel grid, nor the arbitrary axis for purposes of say, determining which direction is "forward" on a ship or the correct orientation for growing plots.

Overlapping gravity gen fields do, however, produce a pull on the player in an axis in between the two generators' individual axis. For example, one gravity generator pulling north and another pulling east, the overlapping area has a northeast pull. Ever park two small CVs close without leveling them with each other, and notice your viewpoint tilts? The same occurs if the gravity generators are on the same ship/base.

In the case of my ring station, there are four gravity generators each pulling the player to the outside of the ring, and four overlap areas. So, eight orientations.

In it's current state I can run around the entire ring and come back to where I started without leaving what gravity considers the floor. Very hamster wheel.

    Which is epic genius. :D

Also, yup. Gravity Generator simply Generates Gravity pointing in the direction of it's Down Direction, & it can be Rotated, so ya can decide which way to point the Gravity 'down' via Gravity Generator Placement.

I posted it, feel free to kick the hover engines.
I was only using 1 RCS, I will try adding one and see what happens.

1 RCS will never cut it. That might not be enough RCS to even upright the HV if it flops over upside down. Ya will want much more of them. Even for a Micro Build like that, try to Upgrade to at least 4 RCS.

Also, where are your Hover Engines placed? Could use a Screenie of that.

Moved into my new CV that has plenty of hangar space......well plenty for my modest needs anyway. On a related note, many thanks to the people who put their own creations on steam for others to use.

Try the blueprint now, I just updated it.

It now has double the thrusters, 4 RCS units, and I widened the space between the drills.
    20161223225100_1.jpg

As for engine placement, it's front-heavy, so it has 3 in the front and 2 in the rear.

That's an interesting Rebuild. Those front Hover Engines might be a tad too forward. An interesting quirk of Mining HVs is that their forward Hover Engine Placement can be a bit tricky. Too far back, & the front of the Mining HV won't have enough Support, too far forward & those Front Hover Engines will fight tooth & nail with you against your efforts to push & tilt your own HV down forwards to begin Digging into the Ground or to dig deeper cause your own Front Hover Engine's own Hover Force is directly pushing against your Tilting.

Lastly, optionally, consider sticking a Landing Pad on the underside of the Body part of the 2 lower Drills, so maybe they can protect the Drills from accidental banging & bashing from side to side during natural activities. *During digging in a Tunnel, it's common for the HV to get rocked from side to side Hovering along the created bumpy uneven ground & I can easily imagine the Lower Drills, the way they're sticking out a bit, having frequent bumping around with the ground.)

P.S. I forgot to DL the 1st Revision of this dude earlier, need new Link please. This dude peaks my curiosity & i'm tempted to take ya up on your offer of allowing me to DL it & check it out. :)

I did a little more re-work from that screenshot, shortened the horizontal distance between the top and bottom drills.

This is what I've been working on the past couple days.

The one on the far left is the original Jorm 1.0. I tried a bunch of different drill configurations on it but the conclusion I've come to is that it's just too big. I'll probably repurpose the design for an HV assault/exploration vehicle of some sort.

The one in the middle with the orange ring is the Grub. After running tests on the Jorm I concluded the drill modules on the Grub aren't spaced as efficiently as they could be. The one to the left of the Grub is the result of all the testing. It's only very slightly larger but I spaced the drill modules out more. After some testing that's about as big as I care to make a mining HV under the current mechanics.

The three on the right are a sleeker, more compact design I came up with today. I'm trying to decide which cockpit configuration I want to use.

I decided to cheat my way in to 5.0 when my CV is ready.
    The plan:
    1) finish CV
    2) collect my auto miners loot
    3) say goodbye to Akua 4.x

    4) start a new game.
    5) spawn in space
    6) spawn my CV
    7) spawn my resources

    And 8) explore 5.0

Today I packed up my PC and came to family's place for Christmas... and internet! So I downloaded 5.0... well 5.3 now I guess? Gee those numbers flew by. Anywho, that's yay, I also decided to put some stuff on the workshop!

The Atmora, a junker that might be useful if you're sitting on too much resources in early/mid survival:

The Shiro class destroyer (based on a frame by @Fractalite with design tweaks he suggested).

    (Also its shuttle.)

And lastly, a copy I made of the ring space station I've been working on back when it was just a hull. Thought it might save someone some trouble if you've ever wanted to build off something like this, or maybe you'd just like to have some fun running the giant hamster wheel?

If anyone has time to critique, check some of these out, that would be awesome! Merry Christmas (Eve) folks!

I saw your ships and most got a thumbs up - gotta go remember to do that with the Atmora.

With respect to that space station.... I wonder what would happen if you deactivated your jetpack in the very center of the circle? :) Would you get torn apart from all the gravity tugging at you in different directions?

The center is in freefall, actually. Knowing the gravity generators have a radius of 40 blocks, I made the station 95 in diameter. Now the grav gens are a little inside of that, but the *exact* center is juuuust out of reach of all four of them, so it's in freefall. Jetpack off = can't move. Move a couple blocks in any direction and turn it off, you will continue falling away from the center.

Cool stuff! They all got a thumbs up from me. I have to check out the ring station you made when I get a moment.

Well that's kinda freaky and alien looking. Very interesting design.

Many thanks! Subscribed, & will check out next chance I get. :)

    Fixed. :p

Maybe if the Station was using 10 billion Gravity Generators... :p

One of the most annoying bugs/oversights:

    Creative_17_2016-12-24_15-12-28.png

I have a beautiful HV coming, but tons and tons of detailing work to do....

AND I CANNOT PAINT THE TOP OF THE CUT CORNER ONLY. Yaaaarrrrggghhhh!

    I hate that so much.

If its enclosed like that and won't be textured with an orientation sensative texture, I think you can rotate the block such that it fills the same space but the "top" face that colors with the slant/corner face is turned inside the ship. I think I've pulled that off a time or two.

But yes. Those blocks really ought to have SEVEN independant color/texture faces instead of six.
