Heh... about Youtube. I had a recording of my ship finally leaving Ningues. Except once again I forgot to check if it was recording first. I wonder... if I set OBS to capture window mode then alt tab out while recording, will my OBS screen be captured as well?
Yeah but speaking of which, this entire episode will not air until Monday. But I could not help myself and render a highlight. So I had to share this early... https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B0imRmEozznYX2ItWU1kUEFHdUE/view
Noticed my shader cache was on a spinning HDD... bad! 3 Hours later, started Empyrion and EAC error on launch. Empyrion insisted on writing to the HDD... a regedit, a reinstall of Steam AND Empyrion, video drivers... good to go. Moral of story, don't get cute. If you have an SSD, put everything on it. If it's not big enough, get another one. The time those things save make them worth every penny.
They're good as long as you're not constantly writing large files to them. Which I don't think most computer users do unless they're using it for video recording/editing...
Assaulted the Abandoned Mine, then learned the hard way that alien blocks contain no usable resources. ... and the Abandoned Mine is choc full of em.
Sadly the only thing ya can really use'em for is to pull them up whole & use'em for looks in your own stuff.
Pretty much reached invincibility in the universe. Arrived on Oscutune and started setting up camp. Super Glass Window building time! And windows cost 10 Silicon each and I'm low on Silicon... And it takes forever to auto-mine these tiny deposits.... Oh crap, pentaxid is brutal to get on this planet... Oh, theres no moon... right... It's time to update a crumbling castle and it's maze. What? No those statues aren't new. They've totally been here for centuries. I'm giving some thought to adding a village and some farms around the perimeter of the maze.
I'm never going back to spinning rust. migrated to SSD this time, just keeping the old drives as backup. looking to get an M.2 SSD maybe, although they're still costly per Gig, they're even faster
I uploaded my new episode of Empyrion today. It's 40 minutes long... But yeah, that's my action for the day for Empyrion.
Toyed with the idea of a small scaled Battlestar type ship for my Omega Outpost Fleet: Spoiler: More Images Still not sure if that's the right direction i want to go with the theme of that fleet.
Went and explored Akua a bit today. Landing on a new world... even one you think you know since it's the former world you started on can be pretty exciting. Also took out the guns of the Epsilon Fortress I encountered "welcoming" me to Akua. I thought I was facing off against eight turrets. Nope... it was just four turrets that have a high RoF (Rate of Fire). Also forgot that my SV's railguns can hit them outside of their sensor range. All I need to do is scout the planet and find a place to set up an FOB (Forward Operations Base) to conduct my mining ops from.
Quick visit in Masperon Moon to dig out one Zascosium deposit (by hand, as our valiant efforts in docking HV into CV inside another CV - IN SPACE - wasn't succesful - man, I wish CV+CV or SV+HV docking is a thing soon). On our way out of Masperon Moon. Didn't extend our stay as place was pretty hostile on lifeforms and drone activity. Last time emptying Hydrogen generators in Aitis. I loved Aitis, it was just beautiful eerie place. Last sunrise in Aitis.... ...and first one in Omicron. This is where we set our new home! - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Heavy Mining Barge Ilmarinen, work continues. Been texturing and painting. Yay. You know, im sure that there's gonna be update regarding texturing and painting the second I get this ship finished The front part of the ship is officially finished.
ROFL this is hilarious! XD Also I like how ya somehow made those patches of Pentaxid Crystals Spawn in a way that made them look like Glowy Parts of Circuit Boards! Perfect Opportunity for a Minecraft Villagers Homage! Here's the Dude I got for my Build, without this baby I never woulda been able to SSD this new Rig. Seriously, bout everything else in the 1TB Data Range for SSDs I found was minimum over $700... Nonsense! How can any Design that looks inspired by the USS Defiant of Star Trek: Deep Space 9 fame go wrong?
I see what you mean, but this ship is even bigger than the Raumkreuzer, having two big hangar bays that are interconnected and are littered with guns, and even flak cannons (which i usually don't use). Unlike the producers of DS9, i'm really reluctant of introducing a dedicated battleship into the setting, because it would change the tone of it completely. Maybe later i can make them more like short range ships, that are soley used to defend already established colonies and space stations, unlike the explorer types that are made for deep space expeditions. (and btw, these Battleships are going to be immense expensive, ) Too bad, i can't really test those ships in a battle scenario against a (worthy) NPC ship.
Hey, I bet the Federation never expected to make a pure Warship Class like the Defiant either. The cold hard truth is that Space is cold, & hostile... & how much Firepower ya got really can matter vs powerful foes that may seek your demise. *CoughBorgCough*
Nah, ships like the Galaxy (in Battle configuration, not the Luxury/diplomatic BS we saw in TNG) would have been more than sufficient. (with a competent crew of course, unlike those incompetent idiots that crashed the big -D in ST: Generations). DS9 producers just wanted to leave their mark on the Star Trek francise, because they disliked the idea of a evolved humanity. Too many cooks spoil the broth. (just my personal opinion, ask two other Star Trek fans and you'll get 5 different opinions on top, lol) Anyway, back to topic. As i said, i find it pretty hard (almost impossible TBH) to estimate a ships combat capability without a Blueprint AI enemy to test it against and without proper defences. I mean come on, put on x layers of armor is a pretty lame game concept imo. (repairing it afterwards must be a boring nightmare, lol.) Not to mention, that there's nothing in the game (SP) where a combat ship (or in fact anything i have build, btw.) is needed in the first place. I just build ships because it's fun, but if i think about it now, maybe i should take a break and return in a year or so. IDK.
Look at these players arranged the planets in this one playfield on their private server. I wished the devs arranged planets like this in every playfield .
