Finally found a chance to sit down and work on my CV. I think the framing stage is done. Oookaaay....next we block in all the walls, paint the whole exterior, go inside and see where she needs a second layer of blocks, add those, then comes interior layout. And by 'we' I mean 'me'. This ship is over five times bigger than the next biggest thing I've ever built. And the phase for broad sweeping changes is over. So... I'm not saying I'm not having fun. The reward is certainly worthwhile. But... This is a lot of work. Can I retire and build ships full time? ... What? They don't pay? Ohh fiiine...
One good shot at the glass and depressurization of that compartment. I decided to go all in on the combat ready methodology to see what it gives me. Not super happy with the interior but I might play with it a bit
Creating a new planet. Trying to make something that looks like the Island from the King Kong movie but it's still a work in progress. View attachment 20797
So I originally thought I'd build my ship interior starting by, after texting the entire outer hull, going inside and layering more combat steel wherever the outside wall texture showed through. But I stopped, deciding I'd just work on double layering as I went along where needed, but my internal compartments would each have an inner wall that's pressurized and I'll figure out what to do with the extra space between later. Unpressurized maintenance areas, closets, fill in for armor or cram it with RCS, etc. The first interior space I'm working on is the hangars. I have plenty of space for three vertically stacked hangar decks each capable of housing at least one of the largest (dimension-wise) stock SVs. The lowest one has ground HV accessibility. I...honestly don't know if I'll keep out that way, this will be a monster to land I'll say. Maybe it should be a space only CV... not a huge concern as it's intended for SP. I should do landing tests and see how many engines I need for that, and assume this ship's going to be twice as heavy by the time I'm done with her guts. Which is a bit disconcerting because this thing's BP already demands nearly 50k iron for the outer hull alone. Maaaybe a little big for a SP game? Ergh.... I was setting out to build my endgame survival masterpiece.
The ship I have been working on in survival has a 72K iron requirement. I have been dismantling the Abandoned Mine for resources, and was able to meet the Iron requirements. I also (almost) met the Sathium requirements.
But then I'll just have a hole instead of a very cool PoI... Thanks though. At least it's doable and I did say endgame... I may need an intermediate ship before I finish this behemoth.
I made an intermediate CV as well, and I was able to find just about everything I needed on Akua. Last night I went to the moon for Neodymium & Sathium, but the final stumbling block is going to be Zascosium. I raided every POI on Akua, but I have not met the Zascosium requirement. I'm going to try to hunt freighters for it before heading out of the system.
As I continue to work on Abrams I find it hard to match blocks together by eye on a 2x middle on that x axis lol Edit: Anticipated finish date on exterior work(Subject to change): Release of Alpha 6
Turns out this thing is a big NO... Last night, thinking what crazy stupid thing to do, i decided to try to capsulate an HV starter into an SV... It was slow and with many errors ending with the HV starter bouncing around like it's made of rubber... Finally i almost did it... I was 2 blocks away from closing it completely, when a big part of the blocks switched sides from SV to HV and the thing broke apart... I stared at it like idiot for a minute and gave up... Well, there's this other thing, it looks OK, let's put some devices and test it... So i put a turret and a cocpit - everything is fine... Next i put a generator - the thing shook slightly and stopped - um OK... Fuel tank - shook slightly and stopped again - um-m O-OK Ammo box - the thing started to shake like crazy, went through the large blocks and this is how it stopped: So relax everybody, this rhing is balancig itself quite radically... Next to test is Marbod's idea...
I made some progress on the top section, the inside of what this is above is supposed to be a hanger, so don't worry so much about it. Also the underside was finished with the same combat top, so now we got this top on the upper part of this vessel. Anyways, who likes the style? like this post if you like it, if you dislike it like the first guy's comment who says he doesn't lol Still got a little more to go but I'd rather ask now
Good to know...i was wondering, why your idea work...because i try something like this with a CV that is fixed with concrete in a BA i wanted to build a "Shield" made from CV combatsteel around my base (the CV starter is on top of a repairstation, so it is selfrepairing) at some Point the CV is starts shaking like crazy... still good... and it is "flying" out, through 10 layers of concrete... but it works good for smaller structures here is may landingpad made from a CV the idea was that i want to dock my SV on my spacestation... i can dock there my storage SV and my small O2 SV Station...or if you want a second repairblock on your BA, you can build the CV repairblock.
@Marbod, here the red blocks are part of the base, and the rest is an CV... It may work to put a second repair bay on a BA... I'll try this too... I have to also test it the other way around, because i want to put second repair bay in my CV's second hangar, and see how it behaves in actual flight... So, more crazy stupidity coming up... Is the HV on your pics docked?
Sorry, but i tested a BA inside a CV... that don´t work...i covered a concret block inside a CV (in Space) the cv starts shaking and jump away (in my test the CV fly 1000 meters... yes the HV is docked...with docking you can build everything...but remove the seat...you really don´t want undock by accident... (use turrets with p menu) here i build a selfrepairig "shield" for my CV...it´s a docked SV that is connected with the CV repairblock... green is the SV, red is the Repairblock my small Test CV covered with 3 Layers SV hardend Steel
I was wondering how long it would take for someone to encase a CV with a SV/HV and use the repair block as a regenerative armor system.
Can't exactly put my finger on it just yet but I get the feeling my avatar is getting bored of how I play this game......
