Speaking of standalone fridges, i uploaded these two to the workshop because i also thought they were ingenious, but they didn't really take off other than on the server I was playing. portable SV fridges. They were awesome power savers on CV's. They basically just look like a locker, and has a shutter door installed as well. Here's my workshop links maybe I'll finally get a second set of eyes on them, as you can see i uploaded it already in october last year. I'm pretty sure they still work. Cheap to make too! First edition: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=788060344 Mk2 with o2 station: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=788073545
I will upload it as soon as i work out a bug i found. After a relog last night both fridge and table/chair set had fallen through the steel base floor there. Though a fully loaded sv in same hangar did not fall ( and it does not have docking feet) I am presuming its due to a lack of RCS thruster.
I started laying out the engine rooms on my space station. Got as far as working out the transition from external to internal piping and creating a housing for the power generators and couldn't come up with any decent ideas for the rest of the room so I switched to laying out the corridors. That went pretty well and I have enough space I can actually add ducts. Up to size class 93 so far. Wondering if I can break 150 before it's done.
I'm good productive at the moment My problem: I start playing survival. "Oh, I could use this at the moment/ I need that now/ this would be a cool addition/ ..." Then I stop playing and going into creative game building stuff for the ingame survival game I'm in... When finished, going back.... 5 minutes later: "Oh, I could use..." haha... hey guys, how do you play this game, I mean how do you PLAY it? these are my new creations from the last 2 days: The SkyRocketSled. I needed that as a) a replacement for the - sorry - terrible motorbike, and b) as I was too deep down in a mine... ;-) (Steam-link: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=941576337) Cheap, small, fast, nimble. Just saved ready in the factory. Just when you need something to go to... (And its a blast to fly, but that's only a bonus ;-) (and can be upgraded with Cargo, Fridge and/or Constructor...) And these Drones.... not that these are really a problem, but I wanted - indeed, ingame! - do some building stuff, not wanting to get disturbed all the time, so I made this heavy Defense Bunker (has anything in besides a constructor). Four Turrets. No really disturbance anymore ;-) (Steam-link: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=941613059) Now I need to get to mining, heavy mining again. My Mining-Rig (see some posts above) is genious, but... not Alpha 6 ready. (Heat, Radiation, no Oxygenation, etc....) So this is my today plan, make it ... really SPECIAL! ;-)
WHAT?!!!! ohweia... da werd ich 'nen ganzen Tag brauchen um da mal rumzulaufen!!! I want to see that when it's finished I think after placing this monstrum ingame, there won't be any place left for building own stuff, right? haha ;-) keep it comin'!!! edit: @Siege Inc., how about making it a custom scenario/playfield/instance? ;-)
Abandon all fps ye who enter here. It absolutely dwarfs the default station in Omicron Orbit. I have the basic corridors laid out and now I'm trying to decide how to divy up the remaining space. I have four big u shaped areas I'm trying to decide how to lay out. I've been staring at this mess all day trying to decide what to do with it. Edit: Oh hey I just got the beginnings of a fantastic idea. I just hope I can translate it into the game. Just need to delete a couple walls first..... @rucky I have no idea how create custom scenarios. I might need to look into that at some point.
So, after a hard start on Ningues with no free base (I chose the "Multiplayer Default" start option for a Single Player game) battling the elements, hostile wildlife, very low resources (a 160 yield deposit was rare) a local Patrol Vessel CV that ripped open my base, chased me and my HV more than once, and Drone Attacks that are actually challenging, I finally feel in control. That troublesome PV was finally shot down by three tactically spaced Rocket Turrets. I'd lost my original Rocket Turret - mounted on the roof of my Base - during what I can only assume was a PV attack while I was away. This had left me with no defences and a BA that vented its atmosphere. But I built back up, spaced my replacement turrets away from my main structure and prevailed. I'd taken some damage, and lost a Rocket Turret, but I was victorious. I'd looted the downed PV, got a few goodies, but not as much as I'd hoped as it de-spawned within minutes *sigh* all that Combat Steel I couldn't claim....ah well. Drone attacks hadn't been much of a threat, but they did waste my precious Rocket ammo, having three fire on a target that can be killed by one is frustrating...but not as much as the second volley of fire from each already on the way as the first hit kills the drone. To save resources I'd build a Minigun Turret along the approach the drones were taking. To my pleasant surprise, the basic small Base Attack drone is actually a threat now, seemingly equipped with longer-ranged Rockets than I'm used to seeing and a tougher hull. A single Minigun Turret does NOT cut it vs. the wings of four Drones being sent against me. With my help - small light HV with two Minigun turrets - I took down that first wave, but the Minigun Turret was heavily damaged. I've now doubled up to two of them, with the Rockets disabled for now - I'll save them for when/if that PV respawns. So, resources were very low, but I'd managed to mine and scavenge enough to build a very basic CV. This isn't going to be jump-capable, just for local system travel, and a safer place to gather resources from. No Drill Turret yet, but that's on my list...slow levelling is, erm, slow The maiden voyage of my new CV - catchy name "Capital Vessel" - went smoothly. I blast off the ground at high speed...I have an excess of engines in anticipation of more mass being added over time lol. I hover for a bit, high in the atmosphere and get out of my seat...just for the view you understand, I'd not forgotten to switch my turrets on or anything...though I do like to have a lever on the bridge for such functions, using the Control Panel for everything isn't my way. Back in the cockpit I continue up up and away, and break atmosphere entering the vacuum of space. Balls. Ningues doesn't have any resource asteroids does it? Oops, not visited Ningues in an age, so had evidently forgotten this somewhat crucial snippet of information. So, space is empty, very empty, and I'm sat in my CV I'd designed - tech permitting - for asteroid mining. I even had a Hangar Door in the rear so I could stand in the warm and mine without freezing - no Mining Turret tech unlocked yet. Wonder if I've got enough fuel to make planetfall? I'd committed pretty much everything to this operation and planetary resource are depleted - at least in areas I can approach. I did have some notifications of resource meteorite impacts, maybe I should hunt those down...wonder if I have enough to build a light SV, my HV is too slow and my CV will be a sitting duck...assuming I have the fuel to even fly it. Ah well Scoob. Edit: quick note so I don't confuse anyone new to the game. There are resource asteroids in Ningues orbit of course, however they are much further out, so you need to travel a bit further from the planet before any pop up. They're not part of a dense ring of (mostly worthless) asteroids like other planets
Woa. This was an hard one. But it's done, the MiningMachine is air tight and fully oxygenated. Spoiler: Pics & Link Mothership: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=937859150 Companion: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=937859255 Now I need some Break... ;-)
Alpha 6.0 finally out, will be publishing a line of new vessels. Starting from ... well, starter vessels. CV is already out but here's couple HV's and SV: RAIDO RAPIER, HV, lvl 5 Your basic scouting vessel. Minigun in the front for nasty critters. Extra seat in the back. >> Steam Workshop link RAIDO WOMBAT, HV, lvl 5 Ultimate survival HV (minus the armour), unlockable early but has all the good stuff for survival. Oxygenated interiors, of course. Bring your friends for a ride too (up to four, no more)! >> Steam Workshop Link RAIDO GRASSHOPPER, SV, lvl 7 Your basic unarmoured SV that is unlockable early. Fly to the moon, shoot some drones! >> Steam Workshop Link
Just finished polishing my Spectre Gunship (modded Typhon hull) for 6.0. PvP Starter CV, lvl 12, only 20k iron, full combat steel with all the amenities: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=942553048
The beauty of this game is that the team achieved a procedural system of adventures ... if you start the game 20 times, it is never the same as before ... we have adventures and hours to have fun ... thanks for this great game!
Another step on the way to designing a decent v6 CV. With everything but the armament it requires just under 5K iron. It's more for fun than for fighting and I'm confident that it wouldn't last fifteen seconds in PvP. Captain's cabin . Shower and toilet are in the next structure inboard. Now to decorate the outside and playtest.
That reminds me of my next project. (where is my playing (time) when I need one?! haha) Want to make a Base-Like CV. Room for Storage-SVs, but anything other included. I like to be Nomad. Now the difficult stuff: - It has to be cheap enough to be build after you have enough with your initial gotten prefab, so no advanced stuff included, only low tech - But has to be big enough to be upgradable with anything and enough to be at least near end game possible - not for fighting, only for base living - And finally the aesthetics. I'm not good at that stuff. :-( More functional. That needs to improve... And thanx to this superb thread I get many many ideas and impressions for any kind of project I still want to make! (like the over next one, a gunship like Booyaah had posted, nice one!)
@rucky Your plans seem sweet. I'm definitely aiming for a 'nomad' playstyle too this time around. Actually trying out MP - which seems scary. And fun! I guess after 900 hours its nice to see other people too I just finished by first HV (Rapier, from my earlier post) - so that I can start some serious exploration and resource gathering for a CV. Probably spend my nights at Titan ruins, civilian POI's, Trade Station - whatever happens to be close Well, that's pretty much what I did for the first 24h. Met some dangerous life forms (by Akua standards) - did some rock breaking/mining and found some loot (left over from somebody else) from a Titan wreckage where I also spent my night. Tried to steer away from settlements as I don't yet know the locals. Then walked at the bottom of a lake (seemed to be a good way to be stealthy ) gathering more stuff. By the time I was at the Trade Station - I had enough stuff for my HV (and then some). For the CV I want something that is designed so that it works 100% as a base when its landed (rather small footprint, accessibility etc.). Something like the Dropships from Mechwarrior would be cool - but we will see once I get there. Super excited about this playthrough - I've basically spent the whole past Experimental phase in either Creative or playing quick 'bug hunt' survivival games for the multitude of different builds (there were actually more builds than there were days in the experimental phase in total ). So its refreshing finally again play the game as its meant to
@rainyday, @rucky, interesting that we're all pretty much in the same place. I've concluded that a base CV is the answer as well. In my case it's because my vessels are bad but, my houses are worse. At best, I work my way up from a crudely finished bunker to a crudely finished house. By using my CV as a base my poor building skills will only embarrass me once per game. That's progress.
