I'm still working on updating my ships based on where they appear in Google's search results. Today I decided to scrap the V1 & V3 Arrowheads, I just cannot figure out how to make them safe in 6.0. It was challenging making the T2 safe, in the past I had a walkway directly above the warp drive. Kinda cannot do that now, if you want to keep it safe. I renamed the V2 & V4 then updated them for 6.0 and uploaded them. If you are looking for a small CV, here you go. CV-Arrowhead_T1 CV-Arrowhead_T2
@Fluffy Looking good. I love your landing platforms too. I wish I was as organized - - - - - - - - - - I was kinda aiming for nomadic lone wolf playstyle this time around - but does it count if I haven't built a base myself, I'm just living in a factions base? Oh well, this is lots of fun too. We were continuing the work on the base yesterday - after hunting some stray disappearing HV's and SV's that kept dropping from the skies. Hangar got more spaces for SV, HV ramp was done and whole thing was coated with nice black paintjob. Kitchen and living area is coming along nicely. Well, im just helping along - original faction members are doing the hard work, im just enjoying the end results pretty much Well my CV plans haven't changed - I got it started. Very early stages and I don't even know if it works yet. Some local found it to be quite fascinating, though. I probably need to setup small orbital outpost and move this thing up there. It's been quite a while since I've been building in survival - finding it quite challenging
Perhaps I should make a new Mini Series... eh.... Series about Minis I mean, small Vessels, Bases and the like ;-) I'm presenting you WARPY I thought about going to another planet. But I have 2 CVs here already, and perhaps want to build another one later... So how can I transfer all that to the new system? As far as I know that's not possible. So my idea, fly one CV fully loaded there, build a very small and cheap WarpShuttle, fly back, dismantle, back to the factory for the next Shuttle to be build, then flying the next CV fully loaded to the new system, and rinse and repeat... So here it comes, my Warp-Shuttle, small (who'd have thunk that?!), cheap. called "Warpy" ;-) Spoiler: more pics and ressources again at least a bit cockpit immersion ;-) it's fully oxygenized and air tight but you should stay at the front cockpit, it could get a bit warm when going to the back but there's just enough room for a copy of one of my PackRats If you keep standing near the cockpit you even can access all the boxes, constructors, lockers and O2 generator!! 725 Iron, that a bargain! but no ;-) this time I won't do a level-7 one ;-) haha ;-) EDIT: Downloadlink http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=945968655
I *was* thinking of running the bridge all the way to the spire/column instead of having that janky little piece connecting them. Maybe I'll keep it though. Adds character. Edit: Finished up the exterior bits and I'm back to working inside. Going to work on the second half of the city sub level next.
I've tried dozends of times to make a good Air/Space Superiority Fighter (SV). Most were too ugly. Okay, that can be dealt with. But also they were either way too heavy (so very slow, that is not nimble *grrr*) or couldn't get a shot otherwise they's be downed... Today, I tried again. And I think I'm getting closer. First I set the Starter block. Then Thrusters. The next thing were.... Thrusters. Inbetween... some RCS. Adjacent I placed... even MORE Thrusters!!! Then I was okay with the result. But how do I add the armor? I remembered the interesting Side-Armor from @rainyday (http://empyriononline.com/threads/what-did-you-do-in-empyrion-today.2826/page-227#post-134776), and I started adding Generators, Tanks, some O2, Boxes and ARMOR... EDIT: As I've seen the Rails are level 15 too, I've added them in the first pic/status page, so no empty places... ;-) Here it is: The OmegaFighter I think the maneuverability is acceptable ;-) Armor is heavily all around - even at the front with these windows (these have the same hitpoints like Full blocks!) Any important component except the back thrusters are covered with one but mostly two layers of hardened steel! It looks special ;-) Okay, you also could say it looks strange... but when it helps the survivability.. it doesn't matter ;-) Only thing, the Back. I'm not yet convinced about it... Spoiler: more pics and here's the back... something... is... missing... or.... I don't know... EDIT: Steam-Link: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=946237538
I was in need since long for a HV for early souting. Fairly cheap, but well armed to cope with all the critters and drones that come along on the first tour around the planet. My special problem was, that i found it quite cumbersome to aim with the fixed guns on a HV compared with a SV. The turrets otoh are determined to fire if i just dont see the necessity of it; early in the game i tend to shut them down completely, what makes the HV vulnerable again. After some testing (and some inspiration from the workshop i decided to sacrifice stability for agility. The HV i came up with has four hoovers, which are not widely distributed, but put together in a thin line, that lies exactly under the center of mass. This hinders rolling a bit, while it allows the HV to pitch very easily. I am able, to aim steeply to heaven with this baby without effort. And because i am quite content with this, i decided the Black Widow to publish on the workshop /the first time/ Spoiler: some pictures https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=946268742
Nice design! I especially appreciate your method of making the fixed guns more useful. I had some success with mounting them up on a "spoiler" which worked well, too.
just built a roleplay based cv warp sled. it is entirely useless for any purpose other than roleplay but i enjoyed making it, I have no clue what to call it yet so I am open to sugestions The story behind this build is that it was one of the first successful warp tests humanity conducted. early warp models cores had to be centered on the target star (that is why the warp core is on the exterior and in front of the cockpit) later advances made it possible to forego this step and merely point the ship in the desired direction of travel. here is the link if you want to examine it further http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=946339449
Working on a minimalist CV that's fully functional. My latest effort has 12 cargo boxes, large constructor, shower, armor locker, repair station, food processor, 2 type 1 fridges, warp drive, and an oxygenated bridge. No gravity generator, no guns. The guns will be added as I test and the gravity generator is handy but, it takes up significant space. The ship uses 7 medium thrusters, two for forward movement with one for each of the others. Available at lvl 10. Specs: 10 W X 6 H X 15 D Iron ingot: 1990 Silicon ingot: 559 Copper ingot: 429 Cobalt ingot: 392 Sathium ingot: 70 Neodymium ingot: 43 Plastic raw material: 1 Wood planks: 1
Are grow plots not airtight on the live version? I see green o2 blocks for them but I'm not getting air vented and am not sure where else the leak is coming from.
I updated my final ship that shows when I search for my workshop in Google, I was a little surprised with this one. It's never been too popular in the workshop, but the Eagle Ray has been updated to 6.0. Since they just introduced spotlight cubes for CV's I know which ship I am hitting next, the CV Tortoise miner. I was begging for CV spotlight cubes with that ship in mind.
Thank you! The balance of that thing is tenuous, i needed many tries to distribute the weight right. And since one of the last releases the display of the center of mass became super tedious. It is not updated after you set a block, but only after hopping in and out of the cockpit. WHY?!?
I like minimalistic vessels and bases ;-) Now if they where even small... oh yes, that'd be a dream ;-) haha... only joking... coffee level is depleted atm. btw... no plots?
This discussion has really got me thinking about the Mobile CV Base idea as a cheap alternative for an early-game rudimentary BA - what I wanna try for my next playthrough. This... 'thing' I've come up with is still WIP (really needs some paint and texture), but it is functional at this point. It's cramped as hell inside, barebones, and if you're not careful, you may die from getting roasted by some of the engines. I'm also a little disappointed the iron requirement is as high as it is (mainly because I'm a freak who can't stop adding blocks once I get going Man, it's gonna take a lot of seaweed to get this thing up and running in the factory) But dig those pitch/yaw/roll stats... I think I went a little overboard on the RCSs... 10 I think. This is the MCV_BEACHHEAD. It's basically a mobile large constructor with a little defense and storage and O2 capability... good to get you away from the PV, and from deposit to deposit.
