I completely dismantled a POI after raiding it in a mini SV... Then I stared at the empty square hole in the ground in a blank state of mind. Hopped back in my CV parked beside the hole and got back in space to stare at scenery in a blank state of mind... Will surely start building something not very big tonight, just to stare at it later in a blank state of mind...
I failed to reference the multiplayer server files. No regenerating POIs. I'm now trying to sort out whether to server wipe or not.
Well I had myself a great EGS weekend. I am playing on Renntech, a server with 30 to 60 players on at a time. I made a friend and joined a faction, then made more friends and made us allies. We left the starter world and headed out, staking out a claim on one of the persistent worlds. Good start so far.
Work continues apace at Moelworks, today we released 3 new variants in the Humpback hull range, the Leatherbacks. The might not be to everyone's taste or use, mainly because of the size class 9-12 range, with the cargo version being the worst offender here. I think the main reason these ballooned is the sheer number of triangles, our armour may be interesting and (from our PoV) nice, but it sure is complex, to build and render lol. So, that's more "Yarp"s on the shipyard manifest the list grows shorter, but not by much Spoiler: The Leatherback
I updated one of my personal favorites today, it does not have many subscribers, but the Wingback was the first ship where I added "wings" and stored components within them.
Started a new game on Omicron in my attempt to factory build my cheap, lvl 7 mobile base CV. It was a great start. Got all the ore I needed except for sath and neo, along with heavy armor and boosts. I'm sure I can find a few golems now for the neo. Set out to find the crashed ship for sath. And holy crap... it's situated WITHIN FIRING RANGE of both the Drone Base and a Vehicle Port, right frickin' between them. The place is swarming with drones and transports, and I could see the PV off in the distance making its dreadful appearance. The damned crashed CV is off limits. Don't know what I'm gonna do - if I don't give in and build a small starter base... which is what I was tying to avoid doing in the first place. Don't know if I can manage this without a SV. Crap! I'm going in. Tell my wife I love her...
Sounds to me like you're going to have to build something in order to progress. Could you build a micro-SV with one Gatling and a couple of cargo boxes then use it to run the gauntlet into the crashed vessel? It's more than likely that you can fly the micro right into the thing which would give you some cover. Although they're a bit dodgy to fly they're also quite agile. And, you can easily shoot down drones with one.
I had so much fun last night/this morning! Perhaps even too much fun, because I somehow managed to take 244 screenshots last night. I guessed 80 and laughed out loud when I counted them. Some of them weren't as good as the rest, so I put all the best ones in my gallery on my site, but here are a few favourite pics from our first expedition, destination: Ningues. Sorry for the picture spam!! It's hard to trim down the collection I took.
We will And if you happen to find yourself IN the updated Xenu POIs - like the Drone Base - would be happy to hear constructive feedback how you like 'em. They are mainly just 'facelifts' but still. So be sure that's your final transmission from the base...
That was my first thought. But I'd need a large constructor for the ammo... probably even other components. That survival constructor is very limited. When I go back in tonight (was too scared to make my initial assault last night ) I'm hoping I can find enough cover inside the CV to de-core it, get what I need, and skedaddle.
I think I've been in the new Drone Base last game. And I remember thinking that I had to get on the forum and compliment the devs for a fine job done on that particular POI update... but I forgot - until now. Thx. I loved the remodeling and coloring. It's much cooler now. I really liked the locker room with all the boost crates and stuff, and having a food processor available to you. And the end part (with the forest of antennas) was always tough, but now, you've really got to A) be prepared, and B) be very very careful and methodical, because there's death around every corner now. Very frickin' cool, guys!
Good luck! You're going to need it. For some reason I overlooked the obvious fact that you don't have a Large Constructor. I haven't done an Omicron start in quite a while. It sounds as though it's just as difficult as it ever was.
Thx. It was going very smoothly... almost too smoothly. One might have thought Omicron was a breeze. But I've never, in all the seeds I've started, seen a configuration like this one, with the crashed CV nestled right in close between hostile POIs. I'm gonna get a screenshot posted when I get home tonight.
@68plex Thanks, good to hear that you had a pleasant visit But so that there's no confusion - I'm not a dev, just a random gamer who likes building & testing
Thank you! It took me a few months to learn the timing for the warp jump shots, and so many bright white screenshots put in the fail pile.
In one of my earliest games I decided to see what would happen if I steered my escape pod hard left on the way down. Good work: I landed in a meadow with a lovely view of a POI. BLAM!
