"trade with other players" only works if you're playing on a server with other groups of players. It's a survival game, why should endgame be trade-focused? besides, those other players who are at endgame hav the same issue, what do you do when no one needs resources?
I'll barge in... If you don't need resources, you're not searching for aliens. That's my thinking. The Universe is only as big as the best explorer.
Because if it's just a survival game, then the game isn't living up to its full potential. The survival portion of the game only really lasts until you have a farm CV going. You're on to bigger and brighter things than simply scraping by once you hit level 10.
Are you & the other Players never blowing each other up then needing Resources to Repair/Replace damages?
I think everyone's forgetting that Empyrion is supposed to have story component to it. It's not intended to be a pure survival game. We're still waiting on the capability to go traveling and actually find Empyrion. For now, just blow up other players stuff so they have to buy resources.
Or you can make your own galactic survival story as you travel the cosmos. If you're all joining a side, lining up like rugby players and having at it, you're doing it wrong.
Naw, the only person wrong is the person saying 'You're having fun wrong!'. People can play how they like.
It happens in lots of games : inventory is full when the story ends... At least in Empyrion the best weapons can be obtained a long time before the "final boss battle". The game is not complete and not perfectly balanced, maybe at some point resources will not tend to pile up in the player's inventory. It could also simply be fixed earlier in game if the traders have sensible goods to offer in exchange for a pile of copper blocks...
I feel that meteorites give too many resources and are too frequent in PvE. I only ever PvE on ultra with a friend on his dedicated server so this may not be a problem for some. For us Ultra PvE dudes the meteorites make the game a lot easier. Are we just ignorant on how to disable these or can't it be done just yet? Unnecessary line spacing.
jeez lol a lot of good responses to my post. Yes of course you need resources to replace damaged ships etc. I havent played on many different servers so i can only really speak on the one i have played the most. Not every resource is on just one planet. Each planet may be missing one or two essential ores and usually bigger factions will control an entire planet and make it so its near impossible to fly into without being destroyed as soon as you enter atmosphere so trading is the way to go. I was just commenting through my personal experiences. But I can see how once you have obtained all essential ores how this game may get boring. You can only attack poi / patrol vessels so long before you get kind of bored of it. Hopefully a better progression/tech system/mechanic will help this area. Being able to level to 25 and unlock the entire tech tree with an hour or so of time is kind of silly.
unless you're ALPHA testing and want to observe different game mechanics over and over without dying of old age.
Non-combative perhaps. So many things in this game are compressed. Right now resources are abundant. Leveling up is fast. Planets are small. Devs have always stressed that those kinds of things will likely change significantly over time.

OOhh... ya meant "Touché"! I see now. For the future knowledge & potential future + Internetz, to make the "é" Character, ya hold Alt then press on the NumPad, 1 then 3 then 0 then release Alt. Fun Fact: This is also a handy dandy tip when ya wanna full proper spell out "Pokémon".
Seaweed needs to spawn more. I'm tired of finding tons of perfectly acceptable looking water grass that apparently doesn't count for making biofuel when I trek under water with hardly a scrap of usable seaweed in sight. Why can't I use the grass to make biofuel instead? It's all plant matter.
