Thanks so much Starwing6. It's really early in the build at the moment so there's very little inside to show I'm afraid but I will try to add more screenies as it develops. I'm having all kinds of problems with oxygenation and plants dying so I'm spending a lot of time looking for replacements. A bug I'm bumping into that happens in space is stopping me from visiting the traders in akua orbit and i think i'll have to ransack the planet for seeds and food so the build is on hold. Where are those darned plant monsters when you need em..lol I've murdered all of the talon for a piece of pumpkin pie...lmao Thanks again for your inspiring comment.

Last night we had a pretty laidback game session that was very fun!

I started off by servicing the autominers--we need to replenish our iron supply after finally having enough that @rainyday could produce his mining barge, Ilmarinen. (This post has screenshots of it below and you should check it out in the workshop.) While I did my rounds, I located a meteorite and began breaking it down. I asked Timo if he wanted to join me and he said, "no, I have to work on this track."

He's been working on it for so long! Even though he builds quickly, it's such a massive project that needed 4 bases connected together in order to complete it. I know what it's like if you do too much building and decorating in Survival mode that you feel like you're missing all the fun. As soon as I was done, I went to the track to help out, and @rainyday was there too. We all worked together on texturing and painting the whole thing, and that was quite fun actually. Timo cheered up as soon as we joined him, and we made quick work of it--just as we do in POIs. :)

I took my Kart for a few laps to test the track and practice my HV piloting skill. I found one turn where--if you come in hot--you can fly off the track and visit the triceratops. I think he's just there to make sure all racers are alive and not on fire after just such an accident. ;)

Then we all dressed up for space and gathered together in orbit to spawn Ilmarinen. It's size class 28, so it was a wise idea to spawn it in space!

I adore this CV; it's so incredible! It's so well designed and is going to be a lot of fun to play on  I got totally lost in the ship a few times but that's okay, I loved looking around at everything! Come to think of it, that's probably why I kept getting lost. I would check out one of the signs, follow the arrow toward my destination, and see something shiny and wander off track...

Ah look!! Ilmarinen has such a fantastic lounge area where we can sit down proper. :D Thankfully I had coffee with me and we were able to enjoy a truly relaxing coffee break. I wouldn't be surprised if I learn my way to this spot before any other locations on the ship.

Not sure if you know but ground is not airtight, so need to have walls all around if you want a base that's protected from the outside environment.

Oh yeah, that guy. I paid him a visit couple times. Good to know that the roadside crew is working 24/7 to keep us safe. :D

Oh really? That's a pain as I was hoping for the natural landscape to be a part of the build. Thanks for the heads up and the guide links. I suppose I'll have to build in a greenhouse deep inside the structure.. oh goody.. more mining..lol Thank DEV for the 'give food 500' command lmao

Silly question... I'm attempting to upload some screenshots for the first time, not a quick process with my connection. Anyway, seems the insert image option is not compatible with Google Drive Image links, I just get an icon with a red cross appear, not the image. If however I upload the file directly (to empyriononline.com) then link to that it works fine. Am I missing something? I didn't expect Eleon to host the likely many thousands of gigs of image data from us lot!

Note: uploading a file of course links it below the email too, not what I want.

@Scoob I used to link photos here from an outside website - but don't really see point anymore as I noticed they can be attached to the posts directly with no (apparent) restrictions. They are not visible if you are not logged in I think but I don't see a problem with that. I have quick access to my Steam screenshots folder and just upload them here. Easiest & fastest.

    Hi, thanks for the reply.

Oh, ok. Most forums I go on have fairly strict policies to NOT directly upload large images, so I'm used to providing external links to stuff uploaded to my GoogleDrive.

Tell me, when I preview a post with images uploaded directly to empyriononeline.com, I see them all linked, separately, underneath too, did you mean these are only visible to me, with everyone else just seeing the embedded picture?

I do still wonder why this forum can't simply take [ IMG ] from Google Drive though....

Edit: ah, there's a ten picture limit....

Not 100% sure what you are asking - but if you make them full image, it only shows the full image. But if you don't, it only shows the thumbnails at the end of the post. I think.

Don't know about policies, haven't seen anything related to that. It just says files under 10mb - so that's been fine with me :D

    Hey all,

Well, I'm getting ready to leave Masperon for probably the last time. It's been my main base since it was just a hole in the ground with a deployed Survival Constructor and Emergency O2 Generator. It's where I huddled in fear when the PV was camping me, and where I eventually launched my assault from to take down said PV. It's evolved over time, I added new wings / caves to the build as I needed the space. It's not designed by any stretch of the imagination, and the interior screen shots I'm uploading as I type are just a handful of the maze-like rooms and location inside the base.

In the screen shots, you'll also see my "captured" PV, customised for my own use, as well as my WIP CV - since about version 4.x - "Titanesque" CV, named so as I was initially attempting to copy the basic form of the Titan Wreck centre section....I might give a screenshot tour of that at some point.

So, why only now am I doing screenshots? Well, I recently switched to Fibre with a promised upload of 10mbps vs. my ADSL's 1mbps. Sadly, it looks like it'll never actually get near that promised by the sales team, even after the Engineer visit that's due. So, despite only being at a 1.2mbps upload currently - yeah, a 20% improvement going to Fibre, yay - I'm going to upload a small sub-set of screenshots.

So, here's where it all started, one of the first rooms I hollowed out of the ground, currently holding an Advanced Constructor, O2 and Storage:

    01 Where it started.png

Below this room, I buried my Generator, Fuel & O2 Tanks as well as the Core.

    02 O2, Generators amd fuel buried.png

Here's my main underground hangar, much expanded since the initial hole in the ground! Looking very empty now, without my SV and HV's parked on base.

    03 Main underground hangar - empty now.png

I actually ran out of parking space at one point, so I dug a little deeper, these shutter doors lead to my "overflow parking" lol.

    04 To secondary HV parking.png

And here it is, looking even more empty! lol

    05 Secondary HV Parking.png

Back to the main hangar area, I tried to keep organised:

    06 I was fairly organised.png

Off the main hangar is my dedicated Ore processing area, a Furnace for most Ores:

    07 Furnace sped things up.png

But Advanced Constructors for Promethium and Magnesium which the Furnace cannot handle of course. Additionally, I set dedicated constructors for both Fusion Cell creation and block crafting.

    08 Dedicated Constructors.png

I dug out yet another room behind for furnace for storage:

    09 Process Ores storage.png

Just off the main hangar, I created a little "crew quarters" area, with medical equipment, O2 and Med Bay (out of shot) - I was experimenting with a glass floor with lighting underneath...I thought it looked good, but the screenshot doesn't do it justice.

    10 My quarters.png

Just discovered the ten image limit, so I'll start my next post momentarily....caveat: my upload is slow.

Continuing on with my Masperon Base tour...

I set out a small 3x3 Farm initially, this later expanded into a 3x9, which provided all the canned veg I could ever need: 11 Farm, expanded over time.png

I created a separate kitchen area.:
    12 Kitchen.png

I built a little side room with a 3x3 plot for medicinal crops - just to make bandages, nothing fancy.
    13 Medicinal Crops only.png

My base is a bit of a maze, I have little corridors, stair wells and viewing platforms all over the place.
    14 Places of interest (maze).png

Back to my main hangar, here's the ramp I built up to the main entrance. Those windows on the right of the ramp is where my Farm is, I sorta got the alignment wrong, and only noticed it when building the ramp. Oops.
15 The way out for vessels.png

View of the hangar door from one of my many viewing areas:
    16 Viewing area.png

Look at me getting all artistic with the silhouetted view of my small CV....

17 Captured PV, low light, sorry.png

I built an off-shoot of my base quite early on to enclose my H2, O2 and H2O generators. I had to both enclose it, and build a raised walkway to it to avoid the crazy amount of hostile critter spawns in the area. Not air tight - though I am standing looking out of the airlock in this shot - but protected.
    18 H2, O2, H2O.png

The view from the roof of the prior room, you can see the walkway to the main base, as well as my large CV on the landing area to the right.
    19 View from roof.png

Over on the opposite side of my base, I built a defensive area. Drone raids came from the East, so I thought I'd ensure they were engaged before they got too close. The good thing about this design was that the Drones would climb the hill, get taken out by my turrets, then rool to the bottom of the hill (usually) for easy looting :)
    20 Defence wing, quiet now.png

Ten shot limit again....more to follow....

    So, final couple of shots...

Here's a shot from the air of my little defensive outpost. It's all part of the main base, linked via a raised walkway to avoid critters. The walkway was added later, initially I just used my SV, landing it on the small pad to the right of the outpost. The outpost is fairly well equipped, air tight with O2 and Medic stations, as well as local storage. You can't see it in the shot, but off to the left is a single Sentry Turret, which engaged any critters while I was looting drones on foot. Worked well. The area used to be crawling with hostile critters, but they don't respawn any more, I assume due to my building expansion.

    21 Viewed from the air.png

Here's one final shot of everything as seen from the air - I exploited Godmode for a moment here.

You can see the main, central structure, looking quite small as 90% of it is underground. There's the offshoot to the West, going down to the water an my H2, O2 and H2O production. To the North we have the landing area for my small CV. To the East we can see the defensive outpost, and the hill the dead drones would roll down. To the south is my main CV landing area, I had to chop into the high ground to the East quite a lot to make room...the new HV laser drill helped a lot there.

Also, fairly clearly in-shot, is my large CV the Titanesque, I've been working on this one for many game versions. I recently updated the BP in Creative to make it all Combat Steel, and spawned it via the factory once I had enough materials. Since spawning it in, I've added the two upper decks, the Artillery piece as well as various interior tweaks. I also added two more down and up thrusters, as she's gotten a bit heavy now, can't see those in the shot, though they are all exposed thrusters. I might take some interior shots of her a little later.
    22 Everything in one shot.png

Anyway, there ya go, thought it was overdue that I share a few screens. I'm not really one for fancy designs, but ones that sort of grow organically over time. This Masperon start has been a huge challenge for me, but now the planet is won. I have another underground Outpost on Masperons moon I might share, as well as one on Atis. These are a little more compact, but contain all the requirements for basic survival.

Thanks. Yeah, I had to exploit the "time" command too at one point. The sun was setting and the purple bloom is visible through everything, rocks, base blocks, the lot. Really needs sorting that.

"Well organised" heh, if you only saw it during construction... :)

That said, this is the first BA I've blueprinted, other than tiny "Turret Outposts". I don't think it'll ever be able to be spawned in again, unless we gain an option where the BP removes any terrain in the way. That's the issue with underground bases really, well, that and how mine evolve over time :)

I love building ships that are so big you can get lost in. Those are the best ships to role play in .
Level 28 is awesome. Hopefully I can complete a ship that size one day.

Largest ship I've created is only Level 7, and I thought it was pretty huge. At level 7 my current ship is a true mobile base with a large main HV hangar, two small SV hangars and a medium "captains yacht" SV hangar on the upper deck.

Might pop into creative one day and play...never really done that, other that to do a block convert on older designs from time-to-time.

I'm working on my secret project... (not so secret as you're got a few hints already ;-)
But it's more difficult than I thought.

So I was in need of some break.
Going on with my Omega-Headquarters? Nah.
    Starting some new Fighter? Nah.

Polishing my Omega-Outpost? uhmmmm, ja :)

    My Survival-Outpost is now "finished".
(I've made updates every Moon/Planet I was on, only sometimes finishing some started work in Creative Mode.)

Now I've redone the signal/switch logic, added a few more LCDs and finished some interiors.
It still looks modular and "grown" (and it was) - and I like it!

Sadly I got at Class 6 already (Even removing all turrets and furnaces (good for less costs ;-) still didn't get me to Class 5 again... so... la vi...)

    Here are some Pics:

The Base without all Weapons and already sunk into the Ground - you have to dig out a bit ;-)

"Full Base" complete above ground, additional Truss Blocks for stabilising.

    (snip)

Two Hangars and the Main building.

Main Hall, Private rooms, small Work places

    Next one level down:

The Operations Room: Full Power-Switch, Repair and Turret Switches, Computers and all that Stuff...
Also access to Fuel and O2 Tanks for manual fill if wanted...

Garden 1. There's another even bigger one through the Door:

    (snip)

    On to the Next level...

The Furnaces Work Hall. Three Furnaces. All having own Power Switch.
    That's for EndGame-AMD-Overflow ;-)
    - Yes I had way more than 40 AMDs (AutoMinerDevices) working on different Planets & Moons... -

    next Rooms:

    Landing Spot for one Fighter.
This Hangar Door to the right leads to:

... the big Hangar. Space for two Fighters, even my Warp-Shuttle "WARPY" can land here (besides the problem that the Hangar Doors above won't open for it... - already bug ticket filled...)

The other smaller Hangar Door at the End leads to:

... a small Landing Place with above Hangar Door for Cargo-SVs - you remember? AMD-Runs? Lots of Ore... ;-) ... I like small Paths to go... ;-)
Yes, here you can see how this Base got involved... ;-)
This smallish Hangar was first, the bigger ones got in very late...

That's it for the Moment. I think this Outpost is big enough. I'm already working on a Headquarter Base in Creative right now (you've seen some Pics in the "What did you do?"-Thread), already at Class 9 and I'm sure, it's not the End...

    ---END OF OLD VERSION---

I was so excited of that special feature from my Headquarters, the Alarmstart-Hangar I wanted that for the Outpost too.
And while I was on route ;-) I enlarged the work hall with two Advanced Constructors (but removing one of the three Furnaces) and adding lots of Cargo boxes. Not only that, I made the Cargo-SV-Hangar bigger for more of them, also added a Shutter Door for easy access.

    Here are some Pics:

Base complete above ground - no Weapons (there's marked places for 28 Turrets!)
(I hate digging... but yes, most of the Base will be underground, see Spoiler above)

It's now CLASS 7 (!) - and this without weapons (28!), without the two Furnaces, and without 36 Growing Plots (for a max of 63).

The new Alarmstart Hangar below the Gun Tower (without guns ;-)

Landing Pad and Control Room for Alarmstarts:

    Gates open, Ready for Alarmstart!

    The bigger Cargo-SV Hangar:

The Cargo-Room with Space for Cargo-SVs:

    The new Constructors:

Anything else is more or less the same...

    ... and I('ve) hate(d) large buildings... urgpf.....

I'm not sure if I "need" my Headquarters anymore... the only thing left what's not at the Outpost already is the big Landing platform for my Class-5-CV...
Let's see, I think I'll play next session(s) again a bit to not get burnt-out of building ;-)

It's still evolving and there are block rotation issues but its calm and functional. the last item in will be the toilet..lol

    Hope you likey.
