In the end RexXxus was kind enough ti trouble shoot as well for me and found the network from the host was set up badly resulting in over 400-1000 ping return. The game itself showed up in the empyrion list and he confirmed this for me. So i cancelled and will be renting a dedicated server
You mean a 'different' dedicated server? Nice, at least you did gain some trouble shooting experience! And maybe others on this forum as well.
He was on a virtual slice before, now he'll rent an actual machine. Usually the best option for iffy software or something in the alpha stage (like Empyrion is). Well, nice to know you figured it out @SilvRav , and best of luck for your server. Let us know how does it end up.
@Triblade @En_Ma yip, now a full dedicated server as En_ma said and thank you guys for also troubleshooting with me.
some feedback...new host got stock today and installed my server. log in, download steam and within first try my server is listed.... thus other server host network is definitely the issue
Ok so from my experience you have to add all 3 executables in your install folder to the windows firewall and forward i think its like 5 ports in the router (30000-30010 to be safe I have it working on my server its also using 2012R2 datacenter
if you want some help i would be more than happy to get on discord with you and see if we can sort it
done done and done. in the end it was the HOST backbone that was the issues. RexXus even logged in and tried to sort it but discovered the network issues. I since moved to a new host and got it up and running within 5mins. this is my 5th empyrion server so was just as baffled but have now flagged the host as non compatible with empyrion
