Heh, my entire build was designed to be modular from the start. I have nodes I can expand from for rooms and I'll do the same for thrust. Basically, if I need the extra thrust, I'll be adding two additional nacelles to the outsides of each of the hangar bay modules most likely. I hit the level cap years ago...no more experience points are being granted lol. Scoob.
@Scoob I wish you a fantastic and fun birthday! We also need to add more thrusters to the CV we're designing right now. I suppose it's inevitable, eh?
Thanks Heh, I've done builds that I thought I'd massively over-spec'd the Thrusters early on, with XL's everywhere. However, my building has been somewhat more ambitious than I originally anticipated, leading to a maiden flight going nowhere lol. I did debate using XL Thrusters this time but, as I'm in survival and it was planned to be a smaller build, I went with just the L class Thrusters. Due to the size difference, I can't really retro-fit them if required but, following my modular design, I can add additional nacelles. However, I'm hoping not to do that as it'd compromise the looks. Still, all good fun Scoob.
Happy birthday for you @Scoob ! Hope you have fun and nice day! It has been a creative sunday morning for me...ugh...well it was a morning and now it's late evening already... Anyway, I designed another SV (DSV Trident) to go with DCV Wyvern -fleet that @Starwing6 is working on. This one is an assault SV that can also carry 2 other team mates. Plenty of O2 and a o2station, couple large cargo boxes, armor locker, fridges...and whole load of guns. Full range of gatling guns, rockets, homing rockets and plasma guns and dedicated ammoboxes for each type of ammo.
Thanks On another note.... I just found a second crashed CV on Skillon. Never encountered more than one before, and this one isn't a model I've seen before. Oh, as an aside, I love ALL the crashed CV's. It would be great if there was a way in-game to legitimately get them flying again... I've done it via blueprinting and converting BA to CV by a little bit of editing, but a proper way to resurrect a CV that's ben made a BA POI would be cool. I think it needs to be more involved than simply placing a core though...some form of specialised kit maybe? Note: I assume all, possibly bar the Titan Wreck Sections, were originally designed as working CV's, then broken before being converted into BA's? I'm also aware that such wrecks were once actual CV's, but that this was considered a bit of an exploit early game, due to how easy it was to get them flying... Oh, FYI, this second crashed CV has active thrusters...they're powered and have the flame effect. Though exiting the game (SP) and reloading, sees the thrusters turned off. Scoob.
Or F12 - if you want to be using Steam for the screenshots. Probably doesn't make any difference - but I use Steam if I want to share them via Steam too. - - - - - - - @Friendly Timo Sweet build! I like the triple cockpit - and has great silhouette in general.
Whoa. Nice design! Got a steam link yet? Fun tip for you Ezhik; before you take a screen shot, press the F6 key twice. It will hide the GUI so that things can be extra epic. Enjoy!
I've been learning signal logic basics. I wanted approach lights for my CV hangar. This is probably very basic stuff for many - but I've not yet to use any signal logic, just switches and stuff. Four motion sensors around the hangar - so both sides and up & down. If you are coming at a wrong angle, a red light will shine. I set up two red lights on both side of the green - so it will indicate to which direction you are veering of course. All clear for landing! Red lights are tied to the sensors directly - if the sensor is tripped, appropriate red light will shine. Signal logic for the green light - if neither of the red light sensors are triggered - green light will shine. So two separate setups - one for up&down and other for left & right. I guess I have to look more into this signal logic - seems like fun. This specific CV has quite big hangar - but I felt like I needed a smaller combat SV because I want it to have multiple fighters stored within the hangar. So, a small minimalist build it is. But I have two 'general building rules' that I want to stick to: -No buried thrusters -All the devices has to have in-game access (So, have to be able to refuel, put ammo etc. in game without the use of control panel) In addition to that - this would be a combat build. So good enough stats. I built from hardened steel but protection is still quite minimal - idea is try not to get hit... 'Kukri' In the hangar. The stats:
Yea logic gates are fun once you get the hang of them. I used to mess with them in Starmade but never did any complex circuits like some people did. The weird [art about about it is, I wonder why the devs won't gives the ability to automate some task using logic gates because all the need to do is gives the ability to feed signals into switches and once that is done we can do cool things like create blinking lights but maybe they have plans to add moving blocks before they do it.
I decide to create a HV for raiding bases and one for mining because using one for both usually leads to me having to replace a drill. So here is my kind of tank like HV .
Joe: I've heard something... Mark: Where? Joe:... over there... Mark: Wait... let me see... and don't MOVE!...
Been building a "small" survival CV again. This time its back to pyramids. Since my old Pyramid Ship was kinda only two thirds of an octaeder, I wanted to build one thats the full octaeder. Octaeder plus HV hangar isn't the easiest combination but I think I got it quite right. These are WIP images - especially the one where the ship is cut in half... so things are most likely going to change. Wouldn't be fun if the first verison was already perfect. Its a tiny bit overequipped thrust wise, but I had a hard time fitting thrusters to a design that really doesn't support them *and* get the right thruster at the right position, symmetry can be a harsh mistress. With 30m/s² downward and foreward acceleration its far faster than any on my CVs - I like to build CVs that feel slow and cumbersome. Its got space for all the cool things, bridge, garden, living quarters, 2 hangars, engeneering, crafting, storage, HV garage... but it comes at a price. Since its made of combat steel it won't fit the 3k iron bill... more like 60k iron.
Just a tiny update. After arriving on Skillon I took out the PV - which despawned *sigh* - but I'd already BP'd it so I spawned that in and dismantled it. Ha. Anyway, continuing to explore I've encountered TWO Crashed CV's, one was new to me - I'll not spoil them with screenshots - and looted them good and proper. Continuing my patrol pattern, still using my CV here, I encountered the PV's base...here's how that encounter ended up I repaired the door I destroyed on my way in, and made this my Skillon Outpost. My CV just about fits, though I'll not be launching any HV's from this position I'm going to explore a little more, but have no plans to take Skillon as it has no resources of note other than the crashed CV's. Reckon I'll head to Ningues next....I like snow. Scoob.
@Dinkelsen - nice. I so wish I'd kept blueprints of some of my original micro-CV's. I used to arrive on a planet in an HV dropped from Orbit, establish a base etc. and often create a little micro CV for exploring. Not done that for a while...might do so when I visit Ningues... Scoob.
