good enough reason for me Although I'm myself not easily distr- oooh, what's that shiny thing over there?
Apart from the few selected that are always there (Talos in Akua, 3 part DSE in Ningues, Hyperion in Akua moon ) - they're random with the rest of the POI's. So the amount can vary - never seen more than two on a planet, though. I think there are 3-4 different ones that can be found. Omicron, Skillon, Masperon, Aestus... atleast on those planets.
Sorry, would have snagged a screen shot of, erm....what's left of it, but I've left Skillon now. It was a design I'd seen before though. Scoob.
Started a game in Build 1208. I made it as hard as possible without editing the .yaml and I'm very impressed so far. Going out at night means a critter attack. They often show up in pairs and it isn't unusual to get bounced by four at once. I used to rush to get off of Akua, not so much this time.
So, I've arrived at Ningues and have taken my CV down to the planet. I'm currently mapping the planet in my CV and, at the same time, building all I'd need for a base here. I've already found the PV and some interesting wreckage I want to explore - but that won't be tonight. I have a question for anyone who might know... I'm currently hovering in my CV at what I think is a safe height away from Drones and the PV. I'm wandering around doing bits and pieces while my build queue is processed. However, I wonder two things: i) How long will my CV sit here hovering while I'm wandering around on board and ii) If I leave my CV, say head out in my SV for faster mapping, how long will my CV remain hovering then? I've had varied experiences in the past, sometimes my CV appearing to drop fairly quickly, other times taking a few minutes. I'd hope my CV will hover indefinitely, only landing (aka crashing) if I remote power it down via the Registry. However, we know that currently a vessel that's remote powered-down while in flight, will usually just stay there...until a player lands on it. My ideal gameplay scenario for Ningues is to have my CV hovering at high altitude permanently while I shuttle back and forth creating my base here. Of course, if my CV comes crashing down at random times - especially if the PV happens to be nearby - things are going to go wrong quite quickly lol. I've said it before, but if perma-hover isn't a thing, it should be...fuel permitting. I wants my flying base! Scoob.
Seems like it's HV day, with a few others building some HV's too! I needed to get mine built so that I could design the lower hangar in my "in progress" CV correctly, so put this together yesterday. Interior is pretty much complete, exterior needs texture, paint and "accessories". This is a HV Tank style build designed for assaulting POI's.
... or make sure that you have enabled the Steam Overlay and use F12. I personally prefer using the Steam overlay, it gives you .jpg files.
I'm not sure but I do know I was shot out of my SV but it still had power and it hovered in the air until a POI turret finally took it down . I dont think the CV would go anywhere as long as it has power but I'm not sure because I never tested it.
Tonight, I have been debating on upgrading some of my older blueprints with the new assets. The original is on the left, the revamp is on the right.
Nice @Fluffy On the workshop for me to fly into the teeth of destruction? --- After my journey to earth orbit and surveying the asteroid field I made landfall and it oddly looks much like Akua but more vibrant, with more water and fewer trees! HV paradise! First order of business was the PV and base and then dealing with the drone base. The PV was somehow a simple task and the PV base was nearby, so it was a matter of pulling the core, and just to channel my inner @Scoob put in my own to use as my initial base of operations. But I took it a step further and added the HV ramp, put in a repair block and rocket turrets and then did some decorating, wondering how many times @Starwing6 would ask WTF? While the drone base lives, it's defanged for the moment but need to get to it first thing next time before it regens! For now enjoy some pretty pictures! ^^ The view from above with the landed vessels out for a cleaning. The @rucky CV fit them all and only takes up half of the area! ^^ Seemed a good time to try out the new emmissive texture. And pink! IJS out...
@Ezhik the F12 tips are almost the most complete answer to the screenshot question, but I thought I'd add a little more. First, press F6 twice to hide the HUD, then hit F12. During action moments, remember to hit F12 rapidly--sometimes Steam just can't save all those screenshots in the background, leading to a momentary drop in FPS that can allow a slightly longer opportunity to take the perfect shot you wanted. ... and yes, this is precisely how I end up with 600 screenshots following an epic gaming session!
@Its Just Steve I really have to admire a man who defaces his enemy's base by painting it in glowing neon pink. Very classy. ...As for me, tonight my 'ordeal' with @Fractalite 's challenge draws to its end. Though she's not yet posted to the workshop, I shall share the results here. Ladies & gents, meet the Soleil. Topping out at 2517 Iron, she's a tad heavier than the Apache and by extension a bit more sluggish (owing to the '1 small thruster' requirement). However she comes fully loaded and ready to fly, with a Large Constructor with four cargo boxes, Gravity Generator, trio of cannon turrets (purely defensive), O2 station and Clone Chamber, and an armor locker in the 'personal quarters' area. Also threw in some signal logic to toggle the hangar door and ramp simultaneously, though I'm not sure how effective it is with a vehicle. *And yes, Fractalite, there's still room to expand Though adding grow-plots might be tricky. She'll be posted up as the Soleil SE when the EXP branch catches up to Public, since I dislike ships that ask for EXP. Which gives me time to complete the slightly larger (and substantially more maneuverable) LXS version, which is basically "all the upgrades I wanted to do when building." Hard-steel / armored glass (which surprisingly, only kicks the Iron requirement up to 3800-ish), better thrust and RCS, a proper warp-drive, and 'personal quarters' that are actually decked out.
I wasn't thinking WTF though. My first thought was, "that's a good use of contrast" Then I read that you claimed this landing pad from the enemy, and I thought, "but maybe it's meant to mock them for losing, and then chould have something written on it too."
Last night I was able to *mostly* pull myself away from working on Wyvern and enjoyed a game session with our whole faction. @Friendly Timo spawned the prototype of our new dropship SV, Gargoyle, for playtesting and decorating. While we briefly waited for our friends, I textured and painted a few spots. Then we worked on adding vents for the thrusters underneath the SV and I was unaware of the auto-braking feature. Finally we went to space to do our asteroid mining mission. We all experienced a strange crash, so we decided to do a brief mining run to the moon instead. @rainyday shared his fantastic screenshots and the story of our moon adventure last night I was thinking a lot about Gargoyle's exterior design and didn't take any pictures on the moon. But that's okay Gargoyle's maiden voyage. At the end of our successful mission, we returned to Ilmarinen and enjoyed a beautiful joyride OH! I almost forgot to say that @Friendly Timo and I fell through the floor when we stopped above Omicron's atmosphere. We saw the one hidden spot on this magnificent ship that wasn't decorated to perfection
It was a spot we shouldn't have been able to reach, which is why we were stuck there! lol We had beautiful pipes preventing us from leaving, but there were some plain blocks around us. I think this might be where stowaways are hiding.
