I've not done one for a while.... so here's a pic of something we worked up today, It's a large, fully oxygenated SV called Vasara, and is designed as a long range bomber in a fleet of similar vessels, with THE MOST AWESOME DELIVERY MECHANISM EVAAAAAAAR!!!* Early stages, obviously, as we've only put about 10 hours into it so far, and working out the delivery mechanism (aka the Totally Infeasible High Density Bomber Carrier) is going to take some thought.** without further ado, here's.... Spoiler: Vasara What, did you think I was going to just give it all away? * Yes, I totally intended to be stupid ** and possibly blood, sweat and mirroring tears
Ya might find making a bigger Space Station then before a hell of a lot less hassle then trying to do it pre-7.0...
@vicomt You know 'Vasara' means 'Hammer' in Finnish, right? Bit hard to telling from the screenshot what's happening - can't wait to see it properly
Thors Hammer is finally published: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1132047753&searchtext= And a picture of me standing in the hangar bay next to my SV
This morning I was designing what is going to become a drone carrier in a scenario @Starwing6 is making. Not much to show yet but the main form is coming along well
@banksman45 try to catch one.. then you get one wish fulfilled... something like a fast death, some warm hands or warm hearts...
The actual base shape came straight out of my head while Ooj was out visiting, by the time he got back I'd got a shape which was somewhere between a B-Wing and a Rupture, and was only barely similar to the initial structural sketch Then things literally took off and we skinned it and did the interior within a few hours. Honestly, it doesn't look anything like what I intended, which is probably a good thing, because we think it looks awesome It's still very rough in places, the back end especially. Hopefully we'll be able to get it out on the workshop without too much more trouble, and from early experiments last night, we think the delivery mechanism's do-able
Last night we enjoyed a fantastic game session, @rainyday @Friendly Timo and I. We went to check out the portal on Omicron. I've never gone through one and had all kinds of worries--no doubt that teleporter-induced PTSD I have from being teleported into open space a couple times... Well anyhow, we took Venomsmite to the portal, and @rainyday was able to try out the cockpit up in the stinger. I took a lot of screenshots I really like, but this one is my favourite. I love how she "creeps" among the orange groves! She's clearly native to Omicron. For the best door-to-destination service, hire @rainyday for your transit needs. "And here we are--the moment of truth," I said to myself. "My teammates went through there, and they could be in open space, but maybe I can help them!" Just kidding! I was looking through a window, and the scenery was divine. We had a lovely time in there, with fun combat and neat things to explore. So then we discovered that outside, there are many deadly one-shot-kill turrets. I don't know why we were bothered about that. LOL But we thought that putting a whole bunch of explosives on the combat steel inside could eventually give us access to a turret to destroy it. Again--why? We wouldn't be able to do that for all of them. LOL But logic means nothing when you're playing around! So the first round of multiple charges went very well, and then we all tried again. Unfortunately @rainyday got blown up again "Why are we always killing Rainy?" I asked. Timo thinks it's too funny and joked, "someday it'll work and we can steal all his ships." I didn't take any pictures for a while there because we were completely focussed on getting @rainyday back inside safely! He respawned outside and had to take cover behind a nearby asteroid!!! We tried several things to make the problem less serious. I opened the wall of the place, but couldn't shoot out the turret without being face to face with it for just too long. We were running out of explosives trying to take out the turret beneath us, and then thankfully he was able to scoot back inside! We didn't waste time, we healed up and got the heck out of there Back at home on Omicron, I turned back to look at the portal. "Wow, we made it!" I thought. "It was kind of rough for a bit there, but I'm not afraid anymore." We went back to the base and met up in the kitchen to share the gold and a customary cup of Kavae coffee. We got to talking about interior design (I like my night-time lighting design in the kitchen, by the way), and planning future expeditions. The plan is that we'll visit every planet and conquer all the POIs at least once, and plant an Expedition Base that can support survivors for long enough to be rescued or repair their ships. We also need to take down all space drone bases, freighters, etc at least once. I think that's a really exciting goal!
@Starwing6 @Omicron-Portal did you know, you can clean this Mini-Playfield in under 5 minutes with only 5-6 Shots fired bringing home 2 Epics and 2 backpacks full of the usual goodies? Especially as this is repeatable every 1:40 hours this I consider an build-in exploit (Yes in my time @Omicron I've got dozends of Epics)
I thought you couldn't repeat the portal adventure after the first time? I'd prefer it that way because the memories would be even more special and unique!
Building them isn't the problem. Painting and texturing and decorating them is what takes so long. Bigger is just really impractical even with the new tools though. They're still laggy and prone to having the top chopped off and added to the bottom. I understand if fixing that particular bug isn't a priority for Eleon since they spend all their time puttering around with their dinky little class 6 structures.....
Introducing the Heracles. A CV version of the SV Hera I released yesterday. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1132455330
