In my humble estimation that low hanging "beard" is one of the best aspects. Its part of the reason it inspires me. Gives it a menace, yet also something of a sea-faring ship feel. Very neat.
I think they are perfectly ok! (as long as there is enough visual mass it's perfectly fine!) The ship looks really really good, i'm quite impressed already!
I'd keep it that way. It looks interesting and original. Four nacelles have been done so often already. But yours look very cool! EDIT: Btw. nice light sources!
Why not both? Really though, pull the fronts to two seperate openings just to see. Straight out to "round" with the wall blocks. Straight to two vertical/horizaontal intakes! Or hey, diagonal even.... I'm full of ideas when I'm not looking at my own builds!
New higher end server installed for players to enjoy along with injection of a new planet for our "Events" including the first event called the "Death Arena" - How many rounds can you make it without dieing ??? (Need atless 4 team members to stand a chance!) Come check it out it will be in the PDA soon to make it so you dont need an admin to start it. Enjoy!
It is creep but I kind of love it!!! .. I am buiilding in creative mode right now I'm not playing a survival game but yea it's extremely how there.
I wonder whats the diffculity level of the NPCs on the server you play on. I know if you set NPC Level to high it gives you a longer more entertaining battle in my opinion. But It is a very cool but creepy planet
@Fractalite Careful you don't make them too big, my eyes are already looking more at the nacelles than the rest of the ship. I do agree that 4 of them have been done too much, but not many have them offset of each other. usually one over the other. It's looking really good, I love the shape.
I'm impressed. It's a sweet design and the scale required to get those flowing lines is mind blowing to me. I doubt that I use that many total blocks in five games. Did you start with smaller stuff and then grow into it or did you go big from the start?
Well, crap. I thought I could finish it in one day. The rear of the ship is pretty nifty, but I am not sure what to do with all of this: I thought about doing it in a large circular common area with rooms and things placed through out. Think of a circular core like: Except less "Borg" and more, "Hi, I am a super pleasant Terran! Just here to explore the galaxy! Nice you meet you!" Then the rooms and such on the periphery. I dunno, could just make it some common hallways.... Tricky.
Very cool design! I'm going with something similar myself with my current ship. The nice thing is if you keep everything plain white you can do much with the lighting and play with some color combinations.
The whole project was to build the ship around the core without modifying it (to badly). The size of engines used, and their placement, is critical to the appearance of the core. I'm still working on it, starting texturing and the dreaded interior cleanup after the exterior hull is finalized.
Less progress than I'd like tonight, but I managed to install most of the critical systems at least. Still trying to figure out a decent cockpit design - can't decide if I want to go the 'enclosed' cockpit route, with seat and ventilator, or just one of the prefab cockpit modules. None of them feel particularly suitable for the ship.
@Fractalite PLEASE adjust it (later) for my challenge (or give me permission to do myself).... I WANT THAT OUTLINE! (or release a Hull-only variant? pleeeeeeease )
Nicely done! You achieved your goal of integrating the core without losing the intriguing looks of it.
What I'm doing in Empyrion today is replaying the seed from a recent game where my SV disappeared when I salvaged the last block from the abandoned mine. I automatically avoid docking to a POI when I'm getting close to the last few dozen blocks because of the old disappearing vessel bug. The SV was parked on a spot that was cleared to the ground although it was within the base footprint . I made a bug report and then played on until I craved another Omicron start and as usual deleted my old saves. Then I was asked to provide a savegame and any screenies/video of the bugged game. Next best thing was to reload the seed and replay. I don't think that it will repeat. It's likely a a motorcycle-into-space event or there would be more reports. It's an interesting game because I never replayed a seed before. "Didn't you almost kill me because I tried to shoot you with a drill the last time?"

Almost finished... have to go do some testing first, and I still have parts of the front that need... addressing. And by god I wish we had multiple models for turrets! I mean, do not get me wrong, they are sweet and all, they just really stick out. I am only willing to put them on the underside and the rear. I tried placing them on the top and I just had to remove them. It is okay I suppose. This ship is a little outside the price range of a single player game - this is more for co-op, so they can also cobble together the funds to place a few more turrets if they want.
Did you ever take a new ship out for a test and get a bit carried away? After reworking the Lunchbox I loaded up the resulting Lunchbox II for a test flight. I found some stuff. This is the result after taking out four POI's including the Drone Base and their associated drones in one outing. I remembered to stop once for field repairs and it shows. Still flew back to base. All this with a battery of 4 rocket launchers and 4 Gatling guns (Fed by 3 ammo boxes). I think I'll keep this one for a while.
