Making a bit progress today. View attachment 29979 Next is going to be my favourite part, interiors... After that i'm starting to build different variants, by adding a different engineering section and nacelles on each new configuration. Regarding the main hull, i'm not really sure if there are too many distracting details on the outside of the hull, already. What do you think? EDIT: Test (crash) landing on Akua successfully executed. ... and successful lift up again.
Here ya go @Neal Your spiffy new OSC Tempest(Or whatever name you decide) This is the largest ship I have ever built from scratch *Ooji chuckles in the background* and I had some difficulties with it. The first was gravity - when I was finished, I discovered that the forward 30% of the saucer did not have any gravity! Argh! So I went the lame route and removed one of the constructors. It still looks okay, it was just frustrating. The second was not related to the size, but instead to a loading error I had with it. It appears to be resolved, but, you never know. I had to rename the ship "OSC CV" as a result, so if you end up using it, you will need to pop it into creative and rename it along with the screenshots you take. The third is I hurried parts of the living quarters and bridge because I intensely dislike decorating of those sorts of areas - not because I do not like deco on my ships, but more because the model selection is so sparse that it get s exhausting to try to make this "XXXX" bench look that much more different than the first 10 other times I used it. Either way, BP attached - hope it does your fleet justice! Thank you for the inspiration! *side note: If anyone else downloads the BP, awesome! I am flattered! But this is for the Omega fleet, so I would ask please do not upload it to steam until Neal has done so.
One of the better Pirate Ships I have seen: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1135335635&searchtext=
Wow, this is seriously awesome! Just taking some Screenshots and it will be published! I really love all the details, like the windows that show the engineering inside the ship and the central pillar in the recreation section. The crew quarters are a nice place too. The ship itself looks just gorgeous! No question it's going to get a special place in the fleet! EDIT: I just published it! http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1135347016 (Sorry for the delay, but the internet just had to had a hick up and went dead on my end for several minutes. Of course, just when i was about to write the description. )
Huh... & this is comin from multiple sources... perhaps it is indeed true. This is the first i've heard of this. Can this be vouched for?
Decided to start work on my latest CV design....will be max 2-3 person explorer/cruiser class. All out of combat steel but wont be 3 layers thick.
Update: Stats didn't change with regards to RCS (all 96 of em) being in the nacelles 12 blocks from centre, or in/nearer the centre. Adding 24 more did make my handling better though. Me thinks I overatepped this build!
@Fractalite & @Neal really a nice ship and fine interiors! very good accel stats (35m/s²! ....besides the Pitch/Yaw... uaaaahhh 0.64 and 0.47 deg/s² WAT??) sadly not suitable for my CV challenge... (-> constructors not in range of the too few landing areas, and... Pitch/Yaw, but that would be easy) nevertheless fine ship! (someone said movement with arrow keys is faster than mouse, seems he's right; with arrows I could turn that ship... after some time, but I had to move the mouse 12 times above the complete desktop, and I have a big desktop with a 3-Monitor-Setup!)
Sounds like it handles as a CV should. I fly CV's with keyboard - as current mouse flight system isn't really suitable for more sluggish CV's.
I have a couple of elevators here set to public, if anyone wants to try out the concept on a live akua survival playfield. My server is called Furious Hellfire. Was finally able to host after discovering my ISP nerfs port 30000... LEFT SIDE 3 level building with internal cv elevator RIGHT SIDE sky loft with cv tether carriage. 3120, 47, -225
I'm in the final phases for texture cleanup and paint. If there are any suggestions, I'm open. I upgraded it to combat steel and armored windows, there is a small hangar in the forward part of the ship, and the main hangar in the rear. A dome for Hydroponics, and a place to keep the fuel (away from the rest of the ship).
Now, if we really would have Warships, Dreadnaughts and such, and I'm talking class 150+++ (Spacemole-Fleet-Size) then I'm with you. With these ships you give a roughly direction then saying "Engage!" reaching out your hand at that direction... But not ships a size class below 10 which only one person still can fly
That's probably my fault. I almost exclusively use Arrow key to steer my ships, even when test flying them. (which is probably a relic from the times when i was playing Star Trek online, lol) So most of my older ships feel very sluggish because of that, although the latest ones are way more maneuverable since i try to make them useable for everyone.
Doing some painting today. Don't know where I am going with this design but I love how the new textures make the paint look .
You are so good with those screenshots for your workshop image(s). Wow. Beautifully done! Yeah, its easy to add more, but I just kind of wanted to design the ship like that. If I could somehow find a way to turn 70k iron ingot into an accessible single player experience, I would build that ship every game. It has everything you want, and it is hilariously easy to modify to add more. Still, co-op people should have a great time.
That's the reason I don't build big stuff. The other being that I would delete the BP rather than texture, color, and furnish the thing. Until we're able to populate some NPC's, vast indoor spaces can seem a bit sinister to me.
Just a quick post before I run out the door, the rough draft of the Cerulean Star has been uploaded. I still need to add switches / signal blocks, but it's mostly done. Constructive feedback is welcome and encouraged.
