yes, of course, but I mean "you shooting in your own feet" not "get shot in your feet by your girlfriend" (the last one is as expected!) No playfield in singleplayer is PVE anymore, even Akua is a PVP planet now. I think @Fractalite mentioned Cannon and Minigun-turrets being hitscan weapons, which I find strange... as I've seen recently those turrets did miss Base attack Drones coming to me.... (besides even hitscan weapons.. can... miss now). Need to pay a bit more attention to this... (this base has Rocket launchers and Flak too...)
Thank you but i am one of those that dont really care about popularity FIFO And here is some interiors as promised. still got LOTS of work to do as I am not 100% happy with it. Then i also need to sensor everything and add a green and red status to the ship Spoiler: More Pictures
Today I made landfall on Ningues. The accommodations are much nicer than the last time I had visited here. Last time I had holed up in an old Xenu power station. Aside from an initial proving trip to Akua Moon to stock up on Sathium and Pentaxid, this marks the first operational deployment of my current capital ship.
Trying to work on a massive glass domed Space base (currently 442m diamieter) ... loosely based on a design that I did probably 2 decades ago (yes, I am old). Problem is, my design is a rounded on so many angles (probably best described by that link: http://www.rz-journal.de/Downl/Poster/1500.jpg, although very different in many ways). So I am trying to move from a round base to a 8-edged base, changing the huge eliptic hangar ports to something else, too. Not sure how that's going to look like, and more importantly, how to fill a base of roughly 2M cubic meters (Yes I know, it's not going to work...)
Hah, I can't speak for Lift but I think it has a lot to do with the sneaky pressure of it all where you want to make an episode exciting and worth watching. Lord knows I haven't quite mastered that aspect yet, I create a lot of episodes that are just the "day to day" stuff you tend to do. Like, I have 3 episodes queued up that are mostly just mining, fixing things, and pontificating about ideas I have and things I want to do. Then again... it may be interesting for someone
Yep it was. That's how I remembered what to google for (fun fact, I did have the original of that poster on my wall as a teen. Guess I had a really sad childhood ). It's not the canon form of Wanderer, as (afair) was supposed to be half a planet, but hey. My original base design is significantly thicker, with a lot of 'storage space' in the bottom part and a much flatter dome. I can put a pic of my drawing up at some point if you are interested. So my plan for Empyrion was to have 2 massive CV hangar bays on 2 sides, and either Domestic pods or SV hangars (or both) on the other 2 quarters. But again, with that much storage space I could put community infrastructure in as well, like a cinema, gym, shopping center etc. That also means it's going to be a long-term project, IF I find a way to make it appealing in the first place. I'll have to go from a round disc to an edged one, plus need some tricks to have the glass dome working for the planting pots there (unfortunately there is no way of having actual soil on a base. Pity ) So many ideas, so many of them ridiculously stupid
Nix verraten! ) EDIT: to be on topic, i just found out that it really sucks (am i allowed to say that?) when you find out, that the whole interior of a big ship is a chaotic mess and that you have to completely remove everything and redo it. This time with a plan, lol.
had to take a brake from building, playing and reviewing... so I recolored my Mark5... I even added some Pilot info and Kill counter - besides I'm not sure if even font size 7 is small enough Spoiler: more
Ridiculous ideas are how we "boldly go where no man has gone before." And you if you think you're old, I was a Senior in High School when the original Star Trek debuted. Your problem with filling the indoor space is easily solved, just make the biggest open area into an indoor micro HV racing track. Micro HV's have hilarious handling and they're quick.
Funny you say that., I had the idea of an indoor monorail based on HVs. Tried it quickly on ground and it works! The problem there is - I can't spawn HVs in orbit, nor can I move a fixed space base down a gravity well
Oh no, I mean you can damage your BA if you slam the landing. When I was positioning CV's on Omicron for the screenshots I used in the small generator CV challenge I had to repair the runway and the CV's multiple times after plowing into the runway.
I had that (again) stupid idea with that Perry Rhodan discussion earlier today - why not trying something dockable like the ships of that series. So I did a little Proof-of-Concept for a HV dock on a CV. You could have turret docks, container docks (just imagine the storage space on even a small CV), or dockable SVs The pic shows a turret dock on the top of the CV, and a container/combat dock stub on the right side. Not sure if the HV turrets compare to the CV provided ones, though. ps: I hate it that you can't build proper globes with the available blocks :/
Well, damn. I threw together the Baka Maru in Omicron orbit, landed on Omicron built the HV and spawned a bunch of them. So far, so good. Flew back to my rudimentary base and though I could unload them the base seemed to repel them at hover height no matter what I tried. Drat! I didn't know that HV's had issues with bases in space. Side Note: This was the first time I'd built anything close to big in a long time. The tools have improved immensely for that kind of work.
Hitscan Misses on Turrets might be a side effect of Tracer Rounds, &/or the change to Aiming AI that sought to make AI Enemies like Zirax Soldiers quit acting like Aimbot Cheaters. I can only imagine how hard it is to Play & Vid at the same time, RL CPU-wise. I sure as hell couldn't do better.
