Although I love it when its raining anywhere at any time, I hear ya with the difficulties around 7.x.x. I too, damn, I just cannot go back.
That's totally understandable! I think I'll only go back to the public branch if there's a technical issue preventing me from playing the 7.0 Experimental. I couldn't go back and design anything without the new textures. lol
New game and I was pinned down between two POIs. The approach was a bit cool though okay at sunset. As soon as the sun went down it was a scramble to find a warm enough spot out of the line of fire. That left zigzagging over rough ground past both POIs without breaking a leg and/or freezing to death, or waiting until the sun came up. I went for the first alternative. Light armor, one Varon, one antidote pill, 3 sm. medkits, issue pistol with 80 rounds, ironman. When I was finally clear of that mess I had no healing stuff, 20 pistol rounds (Dronz!) and half of my health. Of course a grumpy Alien Insect popped up. Chainsaw to the face settled that. It was magnificent.
Especially if you jump them at close range so that they stand and stare at you while you carve your initials in them.
The new planets in 7.0 from space look pretty good now. Just as good if not better than other voxel based games. Looks like the devs got rid of that cartoon look. I can't wait until they make them larger. View of Omicron from Space.
When you get cold in 7.0 you really get cold. lol Nice frost effect. Couldn't make it back to my ship but this was pretty cool.
We could only manage a short 2 hour game session last night, but it was a lot of fun. I wanted to go for a ride in The Arp and scout some things, then go to another section of the Titan. The weather turned foggy as if by magic. I wasn't able to role play as a space tourist during the flight. lol I still took these shots for the memories. I'm looking forward to finishing The Arp's texture & paint job. After our flight, I did change the colour of the emissive texture because the effect shines brighter and changes the colour slightly. I switched it to a slightly darker blue. We had an absolutely fantastic time excavating parts of the Titan and salvaging some very valuable resources from it. The updated Titan is a lot of fun! We didn't salvage much, or complete the excavation, because it was late. Hopefully tonight we can put in several hours playing.
Well, I've been recording new footage for LP series, on 7.0 experimental (go go gadget rebel me woohoo); updated my CV to the exp 7.0 warp drive model (http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1150799091), and made a little cargo bus HV to cart stuff back and forth between the temporary refuge and my new base location. And it's on the workshop: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1150798891 Side note, 7.0 has been fun so far. A little frustrating with the change to ores and mining, but I guess if you're used to sitting on a ton of resources in your first few hours that's normal. Survival play has gotten more intense, I must say.
@Fractalite suggested me doing some rugged vessels based on the Hover I made lately, thanx again, good idea, will make some new vessels when I get some more time (RL is a bit erratic and chaotic atm), but for my next game play session (I mostly create only things I plan to use next in Survival), I've just converted two most used scouts into rugged versions - I REALLY LIKE THIS texture!
You are running hard with the new look. That's great because those textures make a vessel look like a serious piece of kit. I just lost half an hour spraying different textures on anything that would take them in my current playthrough. It's almost enough to turn me into a serious builder.
yes, even the starter shelve is rugged and rusty, with this vessels it feels like I'm just trying to put anything old and used together to get something movable... it feels immersive surviving ;-)
