I like that I don't have resources that are easy to find. Just means that I have to work harder and thinking of exactly what I need to craft than just crafting everything like crazy!!! I almost got blown away by a tower so I just zig'd and zag'd my butt out of there!
Taking out a tower on foot without a rocket launcher was some of the best fun that I've had in the game.
The answer to Life, the Universe, and Everything: Seed: 42 Spawn in front of a nice large body of water. Behind the image is a pond with a mountain range. On the other side of the mountains are two iron deposits plus a promethium deposit. Not too far along that same mountain range is also a copper deposit: *** UPDATE *** Omicron is horridly rolly and wavy. Didn't like the ground structure at all. Time to try different seeds. 123123123 You'll start by a lake with good supply of fiber and food. But MUCH more importantly, there are 2 Promethium sites, a copper and cobalt in close range. There may very well be other good resources close but I've been entirely focused on depleting the fuel sites so I can process that and get a foundation going. Also warning - you'll get a few drone attacks. I was at one of the sites and heard dinging. There was a drone trying to destroy the core of the escape pod. I made it back in time, killed it and then buried the escape pod in a ground bunker using fill and flat with a nice L-shape tunnel leading to it, and plenty of room to work around the escape pod itself for the medium term. Fun one so far. Edited: Glad I buried the pod. Heard multi-ding while at 2nd fuel site. Got back to find 2 drones trying to take out the pod. The terrain-based bunker worked like a champ. Have just over 1K raw promethium ready to process and haven't quite depleted the 2nd site yet, so, it's a good seed. I did many variations looking specifically for close fuel supplies. This one did the trick. There are probably better ones for more fuel (as close as these 2) but this'll work for me. Going full bore with this as-is.
I like the progression with the timing of the drone attacks and then the fauna attacks. I think it gives the player the appropriate amount of time to set up.
346, a bit thin on resources so far...promethium was hard to find but eventually located 2 deposits size 5 and 7 in spitting distance of each other. One was surrounded by about a dozen plant monsters and another dozen slime, and a drone hiding in the water. Haven't found iron yet, and I'm all out.
0101101101 is a fun one. You have two iron deposits close by but you need promethium which the closest that I found first was close to a tower but on the other side of a mountain close to the top. So I first built a HV (its all I could build with my current situation) which really helped my find some good sights. One being a silicon deposit which allowed me to build my first SV. I believe I took out all the towers. But now I'm on Omicron clearing out the outpost next to the downed capital vessel (sorry cant remember the name). I'm going to do some slight changes to the structure and then use it as my base. The outpost has tons of room for me to start with. I could have a hundred man army at this base!!! Anyway, I hope to add more to this soon!
I play with seed 101 and I must say I'm very happy with how it turned out. You start near a small (4) iron deposit and with some towers on the horizon. As you explore the planet and seed more you'll find that resources here are really plentiful, you just need a vehicle to get around quick, since nothing but the starting small pocket iron is close by. Danger lurks here too though as there are plenty of towers and drones on this world. Have put 6 hours into this seed now and I'm about to leave the planet. Hope this is a good seed for them too. I remember seeing that outpost when I was using a seed, but now I'm on the default seed and I've spent a good deal of time flying around Omicron and can't find the outpost. It must only be there when you seed. Shame. I wanted to check it out and possibly make it my base.
07092015 You land in an area that looks like surrounded by V2 towers, though only one of them is quite close. As I usually find myself a V3 tower to make my home, I had to walk quite a long way in this seed. The planet appears to be one for lazy people. close to one of the V2 towers there are two copper and two promethium deposits. Haven't explored the other planets in this seed yet, as I am building my new home ...
seed 65535: I am one click of the Flattener from having a hole in my backyard. I started halfway up the ridge (just above and behind the screen view point) and built here, 200m away: What I'm really getting at: Can the makeup or any portion of the makeup of the game worlds be predicted by the seed?
1013 seems ok. On Akua it spawns you on a little island in a lake with 2 nearby promethium deposits and other ores not too far away. Though eventually you end up with slightly crazy mob spawns on the island. On Omicron it spawns you next to a lake with a drone close by. Not by you, no. A savant, maybe. The formulae to produce voxel environments are pure math. Theoretically the devs could program exceptions but it would be a lot of work for minimal reward. For example they could program 55178 (spells 'bliss' upside down on a calculator) to produce planets without any aggro mob spawn points. But they'd have to be pretty bored to even consider it.
