I'd like to make use of the stations for trade. Last time I looked the prices were unrealistically high considering that you can't as yet sell anything to raise gold in PvE. I'm editing my TraderNPCConfig.ecf (That sets the items and prices for traders) and adjust some of the prices so that it's possible to buy some items with the amount of gold normally available through looting. When (If) I get it right I'll be able to buy a veggie burger for cheap or a suit of heavy armor for big money, but not buy my way through the game. I'm paying particular attention to pricing heavy armor because it can be close to impossible to find in some games.
Lucky you, I haven't been able to find fiber, and even though I'm now swimming in Cobalt Alloy, it puts a real crimp on getting a farm going
Fiber and aloe are typically found near groupings of boulders, sometimes at higher elevations. I found such a cache in my recent 7.x game and ended up building a starter base nearby. Great for getting fiber, and aloe for bandages, and exp from both. There are 2-3 large fields of the stuff nearby. Now I keep my eyes open for groups of boulders, sometimes mark them with a flag on the map.
I had to go to the ends of the earth (Actually the ends of Akua) to find it. The farther you go from your start the more likely you are to find a good field. Part of the difficulty is that you can't see fiber from the air. It seems to grow now at higher altitudes in places best described as Alpine meadows and it's usually found where you see clusters of boulders in those meadows. Rather than being distributed it now appears in large numbers in defined areas. When I find one of those pastures of plenty I lay down a map marker and re-visit as needed. You can also salvage 33 planter blocks from one of the segments of the Titan. Edit: Be sure and bring along some Kavac coffee if you're going to harvest at night. All of the fiber I found was in places where the temps become low enough to kill you without it or heavy armor when the sun goes down.
Been putting in a lot of work on my station. Almost done touching up the areas I felt really needed it. I'll end up doing another texture pass on other areas later after it's published. Main corridor with new textures Theater with some of the new stone textures Ducts: Old textures: New textures: Gotta say texture rotation not working properly is a real whip but with the completion of the ducts I can get back to working on the rest of the station. I love that we can paint the stone textures now and that texture rotation works with the symmetry tool(when it works). Whoever's in charge of fixing all the bugs with the symmetry tool deserves a raise or at the very least someone should buy them lunch. Pro-tip: Do yourself a favor. Any time you're laying out a new section of wall/floor/ceiling/whatever pick the block up off your toolbar and put it back to reset it's orientation to default. You'll save yourself a bunch of hassle later when it comes time to texture things.
ROFL omg I can't believe ya Textured that dude to look like Flying Wood!!! XD *Rolls on Floor Laughing my Ass off* Hmm... I think Empyrion's closest Analog to that Alien Dude is the Alien Assassin. I vote Flat. The Starfleet Style looks like the Head was tacked onto the Body... the Flat looks like a whole cohesive Ship & looks way better imho. *Wonders if your Wife walked in on you making that Post & held a loaded Epic Sniper Rifle to your Head & made you type that second Line...* One of your 'wood bits' looks like it was falling off as ya took that Screenie. I vote #2. The Gatlings improve the look. & also, no I will not forget about the Gatlings, they ARE improving the look & can't just disregard that.
@Tyrax Lightning , glad my balsa bomber made you laugh. It's a fun little ship. Now I'm ready for an all purpose SV with warp.
Pro-tip #2: have TWO or even THREE of these blocks in your toolbelt. For standard block shape and your truncated ones.
Thought about this last night, gonna need to modify my server I guess. Not even tried 7.0 yet, will I need to edit my custom playfields to include new resources and stuff ?
not much room for it, but I think the machine guns looking good now Problem is performance gets hit whenever I add more blocks. It's already a bit tail-heavy; still I could manage to drive 90° up from a deep tunnel I've made... good. ...and looking quite badass from the front
Yes, as the new SSOR has new coding for the resources. you will need to add this to each planet resource at the end DistTypeCylinder: MaxRadius: 8 YVariance: 10(edited) example Code: - Name: CobaltResource CountMinMax: [ 5, 6 ] SizeMinMax: [ 6, 14 ] DepthMinMax: [ 0, 1 ] DroneProb: 0.2 DistTypeCylinder: MaxRadius: 8 YVariance: 10(edited)
Thanks a lot dude ! I can start getting prepped. I presume a full reset should be in order for all servers hitting 7.0 is that right ?
Yesterday I was excited to see an update for the experimental version (because I was having a bug placing blocks to build a base). I took the opportunity to finish customizing regeneration timers on the rest of the playfields for my new scenario (I only got through half for the first test). Finally, @Friendly Timo and I jumped into a new game! Our best landings so far We came down in the mountains and I really enjoyed the challenging terrain! We had to plan a safer route than straight toward the shelter location. After we reached the shelter, things got dramatic. The Default MP scenario I used as a template for my new scenario didn't have the ore scanner in the Escape Pod. Timo drilled a short tunnel into the hill while I raced to construct the equipment to make our base to get ore scanners and stock up on promethium. The promethium deposit wasn't right by the shelter this time, so we took out motorbikes to quickly get the ore before dark. Timo reached a rock and split the ore with me, and we returned to the base. I had already constructed an assault rifle for each of us before our outing--and that was very good thinking. Spiders and Alien Insects swarmed us, so we make a fast retreat into the shelter and stood back from the door. Somehow after a few seconds, an Alien Insect walked right through the door. Home invasion! While fighting him, we were notified of another incoming drone attack. We cleared the area and took positions for shooting the drones. Spiders and Alien Insects saw their chance to avenge their dead! We got the drones, and I think one was successfully looted. The hostiles were trying to blockade our constructors and the entrance to the shelter. We fought them; we killed some of them. I dashed inside to treat my poison bite but a spider got through the door with me! I ran back outside and treated my poison with my last pixie stalk. Where was Timo? I don't know--he was shooting nearby and I heard another spider and bug guy coming my way. With a spider inside, the best tactic for me was to jump up on the 'incinerator' and shoot them from an elevated position. Just as I made it up to safety, Timo came running by the shelter with a bug guy hot on his heels. "I'm out of ammo!" he said. I shot the alien insect a few times and it finally targeted me instead. Timo ran back to the constructor to quickly make some ammo for the assault rifle I put there for him. We managed to kill these enemies and the spider inside, and we decided to stay indoors the rest of the night. The hostiles roared and raged outside all night long, while we discussed our mutual feeling that these swarms are entirely too much. We ventured out in the daylight, but the alien insects were strutting around and eager to attack us again. More would spawn when night comes again, so we signed out to wait for the next update. We survived, but that would be too stressful for a lot of people. NPC spawn rate was set to Normal, but it was more than Very High (not even an option lol)
I need another tool bar. Seriously one is barely enough. I'm constantly switching stuff out while building.
