Day One. Early morning I think. After getting over the shock and the fact that I’m stranded. I began transmitting a distress signal, but of course with my luck! There wasn’t any reply. So reluctantly accepted my fate. After retrieving the supplies from the escape pod and setting up a temporary base. I began gathering resources to build a bike. I hope soon that I’ll be able to begin scouting the planet. I hope I’m not alone here, but I fear the worst.
This SV wouldn't let me alone so I reworked it last night. Performance is satisfactory and I'll never have trouble finding it in the gloom.
Day one, midday. After packing up my equipment. I set off across this barren wasteland. Still no sign of life except for the native species to this planet. The good news is, that I’ve found some eatable vegetation. I’ve affectionately called it the “Corn Dog.” Hopefully, this little plant will keep me alive a little longer. The harshness and loneliness of this planet is begging to affect me. My one hope is that somebody can at least hear these transmissions. I’ll check in again later.
Day one, night time is coming and it’s getting cold. Currently it’s -17c, but I’ve found an answer. “Hot springs.” That’s the one thing this planet isn’t lacking in. So I’ve emerged myself in one, hopefully the temperature won’t drop any lower or I’m dead. There’s also another problem on the horizon. I’m on my last power pack for the oxygen generator. Tomorrow, I must find some promethium. I’ve got enough oxygen to last about two more days. Still no sign of intelligent life. Well goodnight and hopefully I’ll see the sunrise.
So next on my Re-texture list. My little gun ship, Artemis II. Thank god for the replace all option on the texture and colour guns!
Day 2, early morning. Somehow I managed to get some sleep. I popped my head up above the surface of the hot spring that I’ve taken refuge in and to my surprise it’s snowing. If all goes well I’ll set of again once it comes light.
Day 2, morning. It looks like I’m stuck in my little pool of hot water. Current temperature above is -42c, but the sun is up.
I decided to make a HV version of my little base-assault SV: HV-Hover-Bike_V2 ... and found a graphics glitch that I posted in the bug thread.
Day 2, mid-afternoon. The good news first I think. Finally, I was able to move out late morning and continue my scouting and yes I found what I was looking for, promethium. At least enough to last a week or so. Now for the bad news. Conformation, after extensive scouting I’ve found an enemy refinery. It is well protected and I was unable to approach. This is serious, because any attempt to even begin building a base would register on their sensors. If I intend to survive on this planet. I’ve got to work out a way to mask the energy signature of any structure I build. There’s one additional problem. Meal after meal, I’ve been eating Corn Dogs. Quite frankly there’s only so much I can take. I think they’re beginning to drive me insane. Also finding out the enemy is here is oddly comforting, because it means that technically I’m no longer alone on this ice ball. Well, It will be dark soon. So I’m going to find a hot spring and dig in for the night. Hopefully, the night time will give me time to think through my problems.
Since people keep asking: here's a basic signal logic tutorial. Feel free to share if you find it helpful and want to help me growing my channel. I'd really appreciate it.
Today in Empyrion I continued work on my mobile military base CV. It will have enough hangar space for 12 ships, mostly small fighters or shuttles, but also a couple of heavy fighters / bombers. I've really put far too much thought into how many crew is needed and even what ranks they are, which then affects how much space for crew quarters and officers quarters I need. So, I have been trying to settle on an interesting hull shape and ended up making this smaller CV hull to work out a basic shape. Ignore the thrusters, I just added them to move it for the screenshots I then tried to upscale it and got completely hypnotised by slopes and curves, meaning it is looking nothing like I originally intended. Frankly, I don't even know what's happening to the shape anymore. This is just half of the ship, I will copy it and paste it upside down underneath this to make it horizontally symmetrical. It's not intended to ever enter planets' atmospheres, just be a mothership. Yes, that is Furious_Hellfire's Galaxy Drifter CV and Enigmius1's monstrously large Broadsword Heavy SV, included to test hangar space and show scale. Really, what I could do with is a sphere generator in the building tools. I could just cut parts from it to make what I originally wanted.
I like the asymmetrical curves and shapes. There's no wind resistance in space - it can be whatever you want it to.
