Picard would say, "Make it so!" ;-) Let your imagination and immersion flow... I've seen you have a ship... AND a crew... what's stopping you right now? Remember, we shall be using Creative and Cheat Commands. We're supposed to. Make it! Start a new Survival Game, give yourself Command over your Ship + Crew + needed equipment... ... Now GO EXPLORING! ;-) (disclaimer... yes I know, exploring is actual quite limited....)
I really need to stop staying up until 5am. Been working on some micro CVs. The one on the left is the Acari(blueprint from the workshop). I modified the interior. The one next to it was my first attempt to build a micro CV. It's nice enough but it looks too much like the Acari. Might have to go back to the drawing board on that. The two on the right are SVs that I've converted to CVs and started tinkering with. The one on the far right has very little room inside. It's all business and that business is blowing things up.
Ok, guys. Serious talk now. This game desperately needs several extra injections of awesomness. The first thing i have encountered was this "Alien Invader" vessel! Naive and full of anticipation i activated Battle Alert on my ship (means all thrusters, RCS and Turrets are activated + some appropriate lighting inside the ship btw. ), expecting an EPIC space battle to start.... But nothing... just some tiny, almost not reckognizeable colorful bullets (Plasma charges) being exchanged at EXTREME close range, until the enemy eventually stopped fireing... Thats all? No explosion or even maneuvering by the enemy vessel? That was probably the most disappointing thing since my son... (oh that was someone else. Everyone who gets the reference gets a cookie for free ) Seriously though, it's most likely my own fault. While building one ship after another, i've totally forgotten how unfinished the game still is. I seriously hope there will be some MAJOR improvements. Really, i hope the devs will not just rely on PvP combat to be exciting, leaving Player vs NPC battles like .... this. As many of you may know, i'm not someone who's only goal is to fly around and kill stuff. But when the time comes, it has to be exciting and awesome. I probably need a break.
Day 3, early morning. I must have been exhausted from the previous few days. Last night I fell asleep almost instantly in the hot spring. It’s warmth keeping my core temperature from dropping. If it wasn’t for the fact that I was sleeping inside my suit and that I was submerged. It would be quite pleasant in its own way. I decided to take a look up on the surface. A storm had moved in, heavy snow, wind and the temperature had dropped down to -64c. Now that’s cold! A little later the sun began to come up and the weather cleared. In fact it was quite beautiful in its own harsh way, but my day is just beginning. I think I have solved some of my problems, including how to conceal my base's location. Now all I’ve got to do is begin collecting bio-matter and select a suitable location to build it. But before all that. It's breakfast. Corn Dogs, again!
Last night we were able to have a short game session. Timo and I decided to pay a visit to Oscutune to mine some precious ore! It's going to be our future Homeworld because it has everything we need and is gorgeous--but last night we could only visit. We have a starter CV called "Retro Runabout." It's only partially textured and painted, but Timo really wanted to get more erestrum and zascosium as soon as possible. I grabbed my Survival Constructor with me--just in case. Maybe it was a premonition? We arrived at Oscutune and I began my screenshot duty. As usual, I suffered the "view-not-optimized-for-passengers" problem. When riding as a passenger, the terrain doesn't render properly from the passenger's point of view and the frame rate tanks out ridiculously. I had one point later on when I got 1 frame for a minute or more, and saw nothing but the atmosphere entry frame until the ship came to a near stop. Well, finally I got to take a picture! I snapped this one really quick, with no time to frame it or anything because a drone and troop transport were coming at us! The turret didn't target them because it was too busy shooting at a spider (priorities much?!!). So I had to take control of it to defend our little ship. I focussed my fire on the Troop Transport because it could release a rocket launcher packing Zirax, and that would be worse than the minigun drone! As soon as it was down, I was able to get the drone, but our vessel took a lot of damage. We landed and repaired as much of it as we could--we actually lost one thruster and a block, leaving one fuel tank exposed! Good thing I got the drone before it shot that tank, eh? We went mining erestrum in this location, once it was clear. We collected a few hundred ores and went to search for zascosium. I had a lot of graphical glitches as we flew around the planet. The ship jittered and jumped in third person view, and I began to worry about the potential for a crash. We found the zascosium and drilled down to the deposit. There really wasn't much there, so we took a little bit and placed an AutoMiner. I would prefer that we don't have meteors incoming all the time on our new homeworld! We did have a sudden kick from the game after a "Cannot connect to dedicated server" message. I don't know if that was a server issue or what. Our new server is located a little farther away than our previous one. The ping is always pretty low, but that could've changed during the session for sure! Regardless of the cause, we both felt it was time to get back to Akua. I'm sure it'll take another visit or an excursion to another planet to get enough zascosium for a larger CV that isn't such a vulnerable target, but I have some special memories with this little ship already.
Back in buisness and back to work! Giving my lady kinda a new outfit and thanks to the new textures it looks definitly "stranger" then before The new possibilitys for faster texturing and coloring are also awesome, but u still have to be carefull...espacially with the filler/replace function.....i messed up a few times The hope is, i get her really really finished before 8.0 xD At least i got myself already a glowing christmas......something. @Neal i too hope so, that the "endgame-pve" gets a major improvement. For me it is one reason to built crazy stuff like that. Do you or anyone else have a blueprint of this "Alien Invader" vessel......or where can i find it? I want to take a closer look at it
I encounterd it in the "Dawn of Galaxy Scenario", it was directly in orbit of the starter Planet. I have no idea, if it is part of the standard game or if it belongs to this specific scenario.
Day 3, evening. It’s been a busy and quite a beautiful day. At one point the temperature rose to 0c, the sun was out and the sky was blue. This morning I've finally I've selected a location to begin building. Right now it doesn’t look like much, but give me a few days and I should have something up and running. The biggest problem right now is locating Iron. This is the view I will wake up to every morning. Right now it's beautiful, but this planet can turn deadly in an instant. This tunnel is my proudest accomplishment yet and it’s also my solution to been detected. Even if the enemy do find me, they’re going to have to blast through about two-hundred feet of solid rock. Finally, while the sun began setting on the end of day three. The corner stone of any complex has been laid, the “Core.” I’ve still got a long way to go. The temperature is dropping now so I’m retreating to my hot spring for a good night’s sleep. Things are looking up!
Loving the story so far , maybe keep your posts together and post them as a blog at some point ? regardless keep up the good story
They were Sentient Jellyfish.... they go with what they know " Hey they aren't Swimming Into US!! What do we Do?!! "
What's worse that being distracted from something complicated, then continuing it shortly after? The same, but on the following day. I did the ol 'Lay-down-to-rest-eyes-wake-up-next-day' trick and now have to work out where I was when I stopped, and I was mid-way through setting up the control system. I did have a moment of inspiration last night and named the vessel: This gave me much amusement while considering the tagline: "Ladybug? Or more? Oremaw!". Many cheese.
Am I the only one who finishes a CV/SV/HV and then realizes that I only like the front half and that the back half is hopeless?
Looks to me like there isn't an exact fit so General Discussion may be the place. You can ask SilvRav to be sure.
Constantly! Especially lately, idk why. It takes ages to finish my Distant Horizon, i just want it to be the perfect (hero) ship for my setting. There's always something that's bothering me, especially after 10s of hours when i worked on the interior, then suddenly something pops in my eye and i "have" to rework half the ship (which in turn i have to re start with the interiors.) It's a circle... lol. Probably my OCD striking with full power...
