If you can't put it there, the Media forum would be another option. Your story is illustrated with screenshots, so it should be all right there. Hit me up if you want to start a blog and have a lot of questions. Either way, add a link to your diary in your signature so it'll be easy to find.
I made some progress with the Sourvey ship today. I'm not so sure about the upper side of the main hull forward part. I tried to put something like a sensor array on it (antennas), but it looks a bit awkward imo. Any tips? Thrusters are in normal operations mode (Battle alert activates all of them) Bridge (looks a bit bland, needs some refinement) I just love the NPCs, i wish there would be more variety of them (+ decent looking uniforms and consoles in front of them) Engineering (needs some technical LCDs screens) Crew lounge Shuttle Bay What do you think? PS. I forgot Standard operations mode: Battle Mode:
I've been going through my old blueprints today having a bit of a clearout seeing what I'm gonna keep, what I need to update etc, and I found a varient of the Artemis II that I had somehow forgotten about. This was a mobile base version of Artemis II. I'm gonna try updating this and if it turns out ok I'll probably publish this and the Artemis II at the same time.
So I might have something special planned for later today, dependant on planning, wordsmithing and artwork design. I can't say too much as I'm under NDA (Ahahaha!), but I can give out these extremely non-specific teaser statements: It might be some kind of announcement involving community interaction, engineering, design and/or decorating work. It could also involve some RP (Probably!) and maybe even a game show. There might or might not be winners, Galactic fame, and the adoration of hordes of fans to contend with, should you be that winner. It probably won't run over a monthly cycle. Shhh, you heard nothing. [Surprise Edit! Here's the unfinished badge teaser, turned out better than expected considering I had to manually shadow, rotate and position most of the lettering! Honarary mention for whoever gets the shape and color reference and can Name That Show first!]
I worked on a third revision of my Multi-purpose HV. It has changed a bit since I first built it. This HV can handle POI's, and building break-downs quite easily. It also does a nice job of covering my back while I do a bit of mining.
Was not happy with StarJammers exterior textures as it was a rushed attempt just to remove combat steel, so did improve them a bit and removed the orange and blue colours. Added more windows in mess hall as well as other places, few texture tweaks inside. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1195187315
I like them both a lot. Go full hog and see if you can manage to combine them. If you manage it successfully I will even dedicate a fortnite to advertising the resulting finished Masterpiece. Edit: Wow, inspiration from EGS is spilling over into my Artwork design method: I've also been finding out new aspects to the editing software I've used Many times before, because I was finally trying to get seriously creative and was experimenting just to see how things looked and worked together on the small scale. And I also had an impressive Undo/Redo function & 'Magic Wand' which let me copy the shapes of things and use those selection shapes to restrict the areas my next action would affect. There probably isn't another project related teaser in the texturing and border style that is visible. Likely nothing jumps to mind? Surely I can't be the only old fart out there?!
I have a design question too From me one for Weapon "concealment". You know, we have no folding turrets. So how to "conceal" these ugly turrets? Please choose 1, 2 or 3... Yes, these turrets are meant for broadside attack, even if the enemy needs to be very close, but that's another topic we're not discussing right now... What you're choosing? (yes 1 (on the nacelles) "can" be taken additional to 2 OR 3 (on the main body), but Design 1 could be on the body too / 2 or 3 on the nacelles too...)
I'D choose the middle one (2). Because it conceals those ugly turrets the best. But what about the fireing arc of the turret? Can is still fire through the blocks or is the small opening limiting the fireing arc?
To be honest... I'm not quite sure. I know if you block SV-Weapons, you can's shoot through. Turrets.... you know the problems turrets have, right? so, I don't know. but for now I'm pretending them as broadside weapons as I wrote... so the opening should suffice... think Battlestar Galactica Vs Cylon BaseStar... only very close together... shaking hands and such...
Really like number 2, great design for broadside attacking routines. All 3 are viable for hiding turrets, this is inspiring me to modify my CV.
I'd try to go full ridiculous and install retractable blast shielding on them in Style 1 or 2. The retracted ramps would practically mirror the top you have now, BUT the bay and sneaky shaping you'd need to make that fit in there may mess with the overall style too much. Another alternative would be to have a double, or quadruple shutter/ramp blast shield to cover almost all of the options with pretty decent 'shaping' combinations available. Style 1 is the most efficient, by far, great LOS on the turrets.
@rucky, As you can see by this latest trial, I'm struggling with this too. I look forward to seeing what solutions others come up with as long as they use the existing bits.
