Do any of you guys know if: a) it's even possible to code that objects could fit within a half-block's visually empty half; and b) if the devs have any plans to ever implement such a glorious thing? That would make me very happy.
I'm not sure that it can be done in a voxel based game. The boundaries of the the second object's voxel would overlap that of the first. It would help a bit to make the grid smaller although sloped or spherical objects would still show gaps when placed on or next to another block. Making the grid for CV/BA smaller would also significantly multiply the number of blocks needed for construction.
I modified this prefab T3 and tried making this HV. As you can see it's for work. (It can also be used for battle if it is transferred to Turret) It became coloring like a toy. That is because I had reproduced the color of the original prefabricated T3 by vague memory, and I painted the crane part with a building machine image yellow. but.... That was totally different. hahaha (When I took this, I was surprised that it did not keep the original shape better than I thought) I am not good at making an Vessel from zero. Because design sense is poor. I truly respect those who can do it. I'm DL the BP from WorkShop and fully enjoy it. I thank the designers.
Thank you for the feedback folks, I went ahead and modified the roofs of the T1 & 2 HV & SV HPODS in favor of the thin plate. Keeping those things small enough to fit through a 5x3 hangar door has been interesting, and thats what I did in game today. As well as working on scrapping the second section of the Titan in Survival.
Your English is fine. Nice job on converting the ship. I also started by modifying existing designs. あなたの英語は大丈夫です。 船を変換する上で素晴らしい仕事。 私はまた、既存のデザインを変更することから始めました。
I sure do like internal hangars. It might be time to put together another CV with them. It's fun to work out capable SVs/HVs that fit through the hangar doors.
I also made BP of this Base, As a little useful item. It is almost a concrete block so it can be quickly built, With cheap resources. Armed with this, it will look like this. It also contains ammunition boxes, so I can defend themselves as soon as I have Turret and ammo. If there are people who would like to use it, I'm thinking to upload BP. But since all vital equipment, such as core and generators, are in the under ground, it's for single play. It may be a bit cowardly to use in multiplayer. (It may not be possible to destroy!) Thank you. I can not write almost without help of Google. I am relieved that you can say that.
A little update on the new ship: I'm currently trying to find a satisfying way to put a Hangar door somewhere, since the shown position is rather impractical and doesn't allow bigger doors than 2x 7x5. Also i'm not sure about the Turrets being put on naked surfaces. I'd love to find a clever way to hide or give them some credit at least. I'm curious about your thoughts and your impressions of the ship (which is still a WIP, of course). Btw. the ship is not inteded for Survival play (at least in this state of the game), but rather for a late game of exploration of multiple star systems and long flights without going back to a base. (tech like decent Energy weapons/Shields, Reactors and FTL drives are going to be implemented, of course)
Well, hiding turrets is problematic - they may look 'better' when recessed, but it drastically decreases their combat effictiveness in regards to LOS. But instead of trying to hide them, why not build infrastructure to look more imposing? On my frigate, i created essentially platforms (3x3x1 blocks with sloped half-blocks around the edges) to make the turrets look 'built up' like they're supposed to be there and are a structure as opposed to a randomly placed item. Other than that, like all your ships it looks good. As for hangars, yeah they're necessary for solo play, but with the huge range of different ship types you've created, have you considered having one that doesn't have hangars? Like some ships are specialized for landings/carrier functions and some ships aren't? Just a thought.
Neal, You Are the Best in Your Field ... Staviate a circular ship as on a running belt and wander with them is enchanting .. And this lo'd that I see only confirms your experience and the skill you put into shipbuilding... I had the ability to fly only on one of your ships but I admired the shape you can create
Made some adjustments to my SV in survival so it looks more like a flying machine than a HV. This is a little better at least to me it is.
I like it a lot. Love the ship's profile from the sides and front. Like Malekh said there's not a lot you can do about the turrets looking so ugly. Hopefully in the future we'll have more options like retractable turrets. I like the glowy bits around the saucer and that sphere. The apparatus holding the sphere could use some jazzing up. Maybe add some windows here and there along the line of the upper hull. As for hangar options what about the lower hull? You could have hangar doors on the bottom of the ship like Star Destroyers do or in front of the lower hull where Starfleet's deflector dish would traditionally be. Or you could turn the nacelles into landing bays or simply have landing available on top of the nacelles like an aircraft carrier(or build Galactica style landing bays on top but that would greatly change the ship's profile). Another option is to have Starship trooper style dropships attached to the outside or something. Maybe the saucer section could have designated landing zones on the top and undersides.
Hello friends Do you remember the ground base project I recently presented? I thought it would be simple enough,,, was not And now it looks like this screen 12 But it has a hook there is no oxygen in the connecting corridors But the cosmonaut will fly Screen 13.... I still go on to build
Not sure if appropriate or not, but with the LEGO chatter going on I'd thought I'd share what's been going on in the Space Moles' Shipyards... Yes, you're right, I've not been playing Empy AT ALL lately, this is the reason why: Krait S1 Mini-Mole S1 Mephistopheles S1 Leviathan S1
You aren't alone, I wish the same thing tbh. Leviathan has been a lot of FUN to rebuild, the build process in S1 has become like a mashup of my Spengies and Empy build processes. I love not having to fill arena sized spaces with RCS and fuel tanks and other such gubbins, and the ability to add detail anywhere is phenomenal. Haven't even started adding detail to Lev S1 yet; the 1M block size at that scale is perfect. She's 1:1 dimensionally (~400m).
I'm sure 90% of the people who post in this thread already know about (and have likely played) Space Engineers, Starmade, Kerbal, and possibly also Avorion, Interstellar Rift, and a few others. That's one cool-looking flying saucer. There's so much detail in the cockpit and instrumentation for such a small craft. Unfortunately a lot of my usual Steam sandbox friends won't play pure building games, but I suppose that's fortunate for Eleon since Empyrion has PoIs to explore, enemies to shoot, etc.
