Sorry, yes. That's the fully built ship for the challenge. The link in that post is the same ship without it guts, and -not- for the challenge . Certainly! Should warn you that if you decide to use that blueprint there's not really any challenge, the entire shell is there. It's more of an 'add the stickers' kit rather than a real 'model airplane', glue 'er up & paint everything .
Thanks. I build almost everything from the ground up in survival these days. That way I have an excuse for the things looking so clunky.
Had a lot of fun tweaking this ship to qualify for the challenge without altering the hardened steel exterior. I use the Warpkey as my initial CV before I've decided what planet my primary base will be built on. All thrusters exhaust to the exterior. There is room for two smaller SV on the rear landing pad. All the typical amenities are included and the ship is fully livable. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1235874148&searchtext=warpkey
The max I could get the generators to was 81% in flight. You do get effected by heat/radiation from the gravity generator when you walk into the toilet block. Oddly, you can walk right up to the warp tank but take no radiation from it. Perhaps because it's upside down? All cargo boxes, the constructor, and amenities are accessible without having to use the control panel. It has toilet, shower, and a bed. The ship also has grow pots with a walkway for the player. Not part of the challenge... The proximity sensor for the rear ramp is a nice touch. Most of the thrusters are exposed, but the forward thruster is partially obstructed and the forward three spotlights and all behind steel hull blocks, detracting from the believeability of the ship.
Figured I better update the list. @CatmanDoes Blockade Runner https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1228952917 Ship meets the challenge. @StyleBBQ A7.5 CV A10v2 small starter Lvl 7, no: warp fridge constructor https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1228941176 Does not meet power usage requirement. @StyleBBQ A7.5 CV A20v1 sm starter Lvl7 No: warp or constructor https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1229287199 Does not meet power usage requirement. @StyleBBQ A7.5 CV A20v2 sm starter Lvl7 No: warp or constructor https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1229806285 @StyleBBQ A7.5 CV_B20v1 Lvl10 Has: Warp AdvConstrc Medbay. (insert gas station restroom joke here) All qualifying ships have been added to the collection. Since there have been no new entries since last Monday, I am about to open the poll so we can see who gets the bragging rights. For builders with multiple qualifying entries, please choose one to be entered into the poll. If your build does not qualify, there is still time to update it before I open the poll. Sounds interesting, do the other builders agree that we should run a single large generator challenge?
I think a single large generator challenge would be interesting but that is the same as 10 small generators and the size jumps allot. There would need to be certain criteria. Some thoughts. Class 4 maximum Must have upward thrust of 2.1 (to take off of a 2.0 gravity planet) Must be able to fit at least one prefab T4 shuttle in a pressurized docking bay. Must be able to fit a land tank (prefab T5 i think) in a pressurized docking bay. HV docking bay must be able accessible from the ground level. Must have an atmospheric flight time of at least 30 minutes on Omicron. To make things interesting in my opinion the build requirement should require thought and careful planning. I mean you can make a very large ship with just a T1 large generator if nothing else counts. Just my 2 credits worth. Cheers!
ouch, sry Fluffy, I've been a bit piggy . Just the "A7.5 CV_B20v1 Lvl10 Has: Warp AdvConstrc Medbay. No-GravGen" from me please. I think that a single large (50 MW) genie challenge could be fun, but I agree w @Kahrek that it might need some restrictions.
I really like Kahrek's ideas of specifying a size restriction, a certain minimum flight time on Omicron and having a certain minimum upward thrust. I was envisioning relatively small CV's. I also like the restriction of a docking bay that must be accessible from the ground. I also like the idea that it must be warp-capable and that it must have a med-bay. Though, personally, I do not care for an Advanced Constructor requirement. It's easy enough to use the "Upgrade" function of the Multitool to upgrade a Constructor from Large, but it's not so easy to downgrade from Advanced to Large, so... why? But, I did not realize that a single Large Generator was such a huge jump up from a Small Generator. If a Large is equivalent to 10 Small, perhaps it would be a more interesting and restrictive challenge if the CV was limited to 5 (or so) Small Generators, instead? And my original proposal did mention that the CV should have a hangar big enough for a specific HV and a specific SV. Though, I had forgotten to mention that the hangar should be pressurized.
Don't suppose I could toss one more in? Dingo http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1239834164
HVs do not get used nearly enough I agree. A design challenge might be interesting. What kind of challenge parameters are you thinking of?
The max I can get the generators to go is 50% in atmospheric flight, but the craft feels sluggish. Hazard components are in a separate room, but I would prefer a warning before entering it. At the bare minimum, radiation symbols from the texture gun just before the door on the lower level. (I did catch the yellow band on the upper level). The craft meets the weight requirement, but a ship this size does not need 4 RCS units, you can cut a few and save quite a bit of weight. Not part of the challenge. The pilot is staring directly into the ventilator, so the craft must be piloted in 3rd person mode. I would recommend replacing the thin plate just before the door on the flight desk with a thin sloped block so the player does not need to jump to get onto the flight deck. Note: Again, no radiation from a warp tank that is mounted upside-down. While I like that this makes them safe, I have to regard that as a glitch.
Thanks for feedback! I've updated and reconfigured some and think I addressed all the issues, I started from a "standard drive cylinder" design I have in multiple engine sizes, but I didn't have one for just thrusters as propulsion so there was a lot of cutting down and whatnot, thus the 4 RCS, I eliminated 2 so theres 1 and a redundant just in case. Redid the forward drive compartment, added the suggested warnings, but did find one spot in there that didn't harm so I made a nice little engineering console on that square. The rear compartment doesn't seem to give any rads or heat troubles at deck level so I figured that one was ok. tbh I went back and forth about that sloped plate on the "flight deck" when I was putting it together, functionally the slope is better so I switched it out. Added a cockpit up top since the top "air lock" was redundant anyway considering the flight deck (this was another "standard drive" carry over anyway, as was the previous cockpit location, which I didn't see much harm in since I fly 3rd person all the time anyway but it does no harm to put in a windowed cockpit up top with the door duplication) I put in an extra thruster on the maneuver axis (P/S/U/D) and got it to pull 81% in atmos, may address the sluggishness. I hope they fix the upside down warp fuel thingy, because I like the way it looks attached to the warp drive like I had it
Hi Fluffy, I took a really good look at your Dumbo Dome CV. I thought it was a neat design. I loved the living area on the second floor. Your ship is perfectly functional as it is but I thought I would give it my personal touches. I do not mean to imply in any way that it is better than your original setup, just different. Explaining the changes I thought of would take a few pages so instead of doing that I just spawned your CV, did the changes and attached it here. Only the aft end changed. I reworked it to isolate the warp core and tank from the main area. Oh and I added a bit of decor on top, just because. None of my modifications are textured so they should all be easy to spot. Once again I was not criticizing your build, it is good, just showing you what I thought might be done differently. The one thing I did change for safety reasons was removing the ventilator from the floor of your docking bay and putting it on the roof. Just seems to me a leg could wind up in those blades Cheers, *edit* OMFG so many typos! Probably still a ton left but at least now it is not as spectacularly illiterate as the original.
The ship meets the challenge now, amusingly enough, you now take radiation from the warp tank in it's new position. Do not worry about the typos, I have an almost terminal case of "fat finger" syndrome. I do not mind that you made modifications to it, I appreciate the fresh look. I hope you do not mind if I pirate a few of your ideas. Feel free to put it into the workshop if you want to. I guess I was too focused on keeping the front and rear section symmetrical, your modification creates more space in the engineering section. The extra decorations on the top add to the visual appeal of the vessel, it's still under the weight limit. I think I would replace the two steel blocks in the rear (under the fuel tanks) with additional fuel tanks laid down on their sides.

Well darn, a chance to spruce up my ship. I think I will jump on that tonight. The more I look at it the more I find things I could have done better. that seems to be my creative weakness. Post production second guessing. Cheers,
Grrr, take 2. I'd like to update my submission if i could please. I've made some optimizations to the ship, my tests have it cap out at 84% so should be good still. Have added a gravity generator, armour locker, more grow plots, (can't add a repair station! arghh! it uses zasc/eres). Shooting out the weak spotlight will no longer decompress the cabin. The starboard landing ramp is now a bit easier to climb on inclines. Decided to call it: the mule.
