Speaking of large landing pads, I do not know how many folks remember Ooryll's Planetary-Dock, but they are working on a new one. Planetary Dock 7.x
And that is what I did. With the ship I posted about (MEKNET1977's ship SV-EXCO-MK1) I noticed that there were a number of sloped spotlights that were pointing diagonally almost directly down. I removed one and replaced it with the same variant. But the light now was pointing almost horizontal. I tried all three variants (using the RMB) and none would point downwards like it used to. When I tried the removing and replacing the other spotlights, the same thing happened. All three spotlight variants are almost identical. I can't get mine to face down at the same angle as the EXCO. This was with a new creative game. Is this a bug?
Three pics. 1. My SV and the EXCO. I have the same spotlight variant on both marked with a circle. 2. Both ships face a more or less similar sloped wall at the same height. 3. The result of the untouched EXCO and my SV with a newly placed spotlight of the same sloped variant.
To be honest, besides the little starter base I build on Akua before I build my CV. My CV is my base for the rest of the game. I hardly ever build a regular base on other planets.
Basically what I usually do too. There's just no reason to build more than a survival bunker on the starter planet, then a CV with decent storage/crafting to move around with. If there was a good reason, I'd love to build larger bases and larger/more ships. And I've love there to be a good reason, but we need content for that - good AI, factions, and so on.
In the early days of Empyrion, maybe before 3, didn't the game leave you with the shell of the escape pod? I'm sure I remember posts of people talking about how they could build it up to being flyable.
@banksman45 and that really makes a ton of sense. Nothing wrong with building bases of course, but since I like the gameplay of 'crashing on a deserted planet', devoting effort/resources directly to a CV from the beginning really fits. Thanks for spurring the idea! That would really be a great and logical way to get going, in my opinion. Frustrating that such a potentially valuble resource goes poof!
Never built a Underground Base with its Entrance on an Aestus Island with its own personal Lava Moat? Ya've missed out then.
The angle of the light beam in the sloped spotlight is less than 45 degrees - so by flipping it around, you can get it to point more downwards.
I really do like that new angled spotlight block. I went through all my old blueprints and added it so that my ship will illuminate the ground while I am flying over it.
I'm not sure I follow. I rotated the sloped around all four directions and could not get it to slope in the extreme down slope of the EXCO. Three more pics. 1. I spawned a new EXCO in survival. I removed the middle and left spotlight. Then replaced the left spotlight, also as sloped. Also sloping in the same direction. 2. You can see the difference between left and right. 3. Looking down from above, the original untouched slope faces down much more steeply.
So to add to Rainy's post above and for added motivation in @Siege Inc. and @oojimaflip 's work, the craziest thing I have ever seen in this game is: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=962104494 Reason being: It has 11,936 fuel tanks. I enjoy making them from scratch, but I thought I would also convert some of the BP's on the workshop to the "Abandoned" type, buuuuuuuuut, think I might have to pass on this. Unless, @Pantera , is there a console command to delete all of one type of device? A side note: DO NOT press auto-sort. It could blow up your computer(my attempt took a good 20s.)
Was also considering this gem: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=816774907 Is not quite right, but I found this on an LCD screen: I love creativity.
Done. Fractalite my buildings look like a child has slapped them together in 5 minutes. That one is a gem.
My latest going ons in Empyrion is I overhauled my Creative Mode HV Building Pad to Modernize it then used it to make this to revitalize the Asymm Thread with.
Are you sure it's same direction? Block is symmetrical but the light beam isn't. Check the orientation of the block. Here's the 'normal' orientation, notice the blue bottom of the block indicator. Here's it 'flipped'. Bottom is now in front. And here's the difference in light beams.
That's it! I had no idea of that maneuver. lol. On my example both spotlights look the same. Ok, I'll delete my bug rep.
