Spoiler: better view besides these weapon upgrade, I added cargo, fridge and ammo boxes but the main thing is rightfully the WEAPONZ, that's clear... I've uploaded it for friends only, you can have a look if you want...
Ok, the warp core between the nacells it is. I'm not certain about the second bridge. I was originally thinking of using that area for a second landing pad, the large flat area would also allow the player to add larger turrets. Hydroponics dome?
I wouldn't worry about your CV's results... too many peeps gravitate toward wuss ineffective loser function CVs that have nothing going for them but being very very pwetty... & they get away with it just fine cause they might only just SP PvE or MP PvE which gives them no real enemies one ever needs any real Vessel for... hell, in the current state of the game one can Rektoning the Zirax into the ground with the Vanilla Prefabs. Quality well built CVs that can live with not being Vehicle Supermodels don't really have a high demand, & among those with such a Demand, many build their own instead of use someone else's Design. HVs & SVs are of greater demand on the Workshop cause in SP & MP PvE, those 2 are far more often the actual Workhorses of the Player's Space Force. Those can't get away with being merely pwetty only nearly so easy. If we're talking about being Combat Effective, neither. If we're talking about looks alone, definitely Nacelles option. I totally agree with this idea... it's never a bad idea to have a 'Backup Bridge' in case the first one gets blown up... even in PvE. Totally dig it! That's a nice 'Team Effort' between ya two, regardless of if that was what ya were goin for or not. Love it! I see this badassery & wish I could challenge it with my Tyrax Hover War Tank! (Screw you too RL...) Maybe a emergency 2nd Cockpit could be hidden among the Plants... bet it'd be hard for foes to think of looking for such there.
Today in Empyrion I worked mostly on an idea I got while on a multiplayer server. I had a limited time to get off the starter planet before the weekly wipe, so I searched the worshop for a cheapish SV with warp capability and realised there was nothing better than the excellent KSV Aetheria by @Kieve . As my base was too small to use as a platform to spawn the ship, I used Kieve's Aetheria Flightpad too. Looking at the flightpad next to my base, I realised the two buildings could be merged, with the flightpad being the roof. So, here are some pictures of work done so far. I did the work in space, then spawned it on Akua (thanks developers for being able to lower blueprints into the rock). I present Aetheria Mountain Base: Spoiler: More pictures The inside of the base is empty so far, other than generator, fuel tanks and solar power.
Today... I actually played. Started a new map. Made a new hover for low threat... basically a Prius with guns. feels good to be back.
Welcome back to the 'Has a Computer functional' world! I hope this means your new Build/Repaired current Build (I forget which it was, RL been too hard on my useless Memory lately...) is a glorious victory! Also, "Prius with Guns"... I like the sound of that! Ya should totally make that a thing!
There was one of my blueprints I thought was packing a lot of firepower into a small space, but I was absolutely wrong. Yours puts any of mine to shame. As for what I did today, it was finishing some efforts to clean up my Turkey and update the Steam entry. I even took new screenshots. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1128400834
Wasn't sure I would get my Ant Hauler cleaned up and updated on Steam before bed, but I guess I did. I wasn't doing that much except chasing down all the elements requiring the more advanced materials. Almost missed a couple T2 RCS, but in the end I believe I got it all cleaned up for its intended purpose as a possible first CV. Maybe in a later update to the game I will give it an overhaul based on what I have learned since I first put it together, but for now my goal was simply bring back into compliance for its intended purpose. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1096932323
I suggested 2nd bridge mostly because when I take hits in my CV, with my playstyle, they mostly end up striking the lower nose; exactly where you're sitting in your CV. YMMV, of course
Today I did some Steam workshop stuff. Uploaded my Elite Dangerous Viper MkIV Updated the entry for my Elite Dangerous Viper MkIII Both are SVs intended to be PVE long-range POI and PV raiders. Decent firepower & maneuverability, lots of loot storage, warp-capable, fridge & armour locker & constructor, and you can take a one or two friends with you. Both are also about half-scale compared to their E-D counterparts. I think I got the MkIV a lot closer to the original than the MkIII, but I was building to a 3rd party spec for the MkIII, so I had to make some design compromises. I'll get round to putting my Python up at some point soon, and maybe even getting round to finishing my Fer-de-Lance Viper mk4 Viper mk3
i need advice on my favorite ship, how can i make it better? i want it to feel the love of the community more, but it might be something wrong with it, or not good enough? http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1273184578
What kind of advice are you after with this ship is it the looks, functionality as a pvp ship? Do you want to make the splash page on steam more appealing or is a mix of all three?
More pics, more info. And just build a ship you like to play with, I wouldn't worry about it not being 'good enough'
I do like general outline & look of this 'Baikal' ship, it is a great design & to my liking - and I really appreciate what you and some others did with importing blank 3D models in to Empyrion, probably all of them will at one time or another made & remade and incorporated in numerous MP & SP servers, games and scenarios... BUT ... it looks like your 'hyperproduction' took a bite in your 'fast redesigns' You need a LOT of detailing, texturing, twerking on this Baikal to make ti really appealing to EGS masses & to the 'community' Fix exterior and make it more 'smooth' - adding details with half blocks, piping, different slopes, etc. will also improve armor as you have just a block on lots of places. And for PvP & PvE as it is, just one lucky shot inside and all goes boom There is a lot of room inside, make it 'realistic' like a real spaceship - separate things, make corridors and walkways, set up lights, lots of devices you have inside are put-in backward. This ship is nice design and a great potential! BTW, I downloaded it and inspected it in game - and I will probably take a round with it to try to make some hard-core juggernaut battleship POI thing for MP --- RED DAWN IN DEEEEP SPACE! After playing for 18 days on GREAT Farmland MP server on GREAT Voodoo 3 map yesterday I finally made my FIRST base I was flying around inspecting planets & moons, first with small warpable SV ('cose you can get everywhere with SV) then with my small CV, and for all that time I have been on precisely just a half of this great map! Didn't find mr. @rucky 's base of operation, he's prob. in the other half of system My 'cubed CV' is parked inside open-top base (like a box inside a box), so in the next few days I will expand - for now my outside warpaint decorations are done
I've not finished looking at the whole ship yet but there are somethings that stick out at the mo. First off is the amount of generators. If I remember correctly you have 14 T2 generators that's a lot of extra weight for no real purpose. Having an extra generator or two is handy but that is massive overkill. Also your ship is far to heavy for its size, I've managed to take out a thousand blocks from the nose at the mo will probably get another 500 again from the nose that probably aren't necassery. Its better to wrap the devices with blocks than the inside of the ship to protect them if you want to save weight. Also on that note your devices are too close to each other. If one takes a hit the entire lot could go up in a massive chain reaction! Try spacing them in small groups or singularly depending on what they are so that you can either have smaller explosions or wrap them in blocks to protect them. If you can remove as much weight as I think it should be able to then you can cut the number of thrusters while keeping the manouverability and also getting rid of a hell of a lot of those RCS, and this should lower your fuel consumption considerable. Also as Space Beagle mentions the outside of your ship needs a little smoothing out. If I remember correctly you've been importing 3D models and using them as the base for your ships. That's a good start but you need to spend a good amount of time improving the flow of that base shape and adding detail either by making the outline more interesting, adding cooling vains, vents, pipes etc or through texture work. Another thing is the interior. The reason people tend to go for a ship like yours instead of a death cube is because they want a ship that is visually interesting. And that means inside as well as out. I'd suggest looking at some of ships on the workshop to see what people have done with there interiors as there's a whole host of inspiration there if you've got the time. Lastly redundancy for devices. As I mentioned about the generators its good to have some redundancy but you also have to thing of placement. There's no point having two 02 or three health stations side by side you don't need the extras there and if they take a hit they'll probably all explode making the redundancy pointless.
