How do you even begin a project like that? Clearly you have some super spatial intelligence. Does anyone else notice this JUST with magnesium?
I drew inspiration from an Ursa Rover build on the Workshop, Robot Shark's pickup, and the rover from The Martian. I wish we could do windows like these:
Here recently I have been obsessed with early game pve survival type builds. I wanted a small form factor mining type HV that was easy to use and low cost. Took a couple of days, and lots of drilling holes into mountains, but I think I managed to put something useful together. Any feedback would be very helpful. Anywho, here is the new ZeroG-Mole-X! http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1284631822
Also just to give you a sense of scale, I was driving by and seen a Ladybug parked in a hanger. I took this opportunity to park my Mole-X and its unnamed T2 concept, next to it.
I like it. There are a thousand similar builds out there- we are of course limited in many ways- but overall, it's cleaner and laid out much better than most. It looks like an actual vehicle instead of a collection of blocks. You do nice work I'd probably put a docking pad on the top behind the cockpit, can't think of any other change... *heads off to subscribe*
next month ill be starting on my next ship also anyone really know why importing 3d models is looked down apon?
My guess: People think that if you take a shortcut, or don't build something "by hand", then it isn't "real". My opinion: Much like any other hobby, if you're having fun and not harming anyone, then don't let other people crimp your mirth. Personally, I love watching your 3d conversions come through the pipeline, and I think it is a great indication of one direction this game could go. The fact that you can import a 3d Mesh into Empyrion, and then do some cleanup, is AWESOME. Please continue sharing your journey through sci-fi history. --Brian
Bug Report worthy. Looks like a good compact starter... though I dunno about the blatantly open vulnerable Generators while one can easily bang stuff up with oopses during strafing maneuvers or if the Drilling Action Bug flings ya into Walls & such... Bat Parking FTW! I didn't even know before that Model Importing being looked down upon by anyone even existed. Bet they think Creative Mode is cheating too... go figure some people.
Only when the model being imported has copyright on it's Intellectual Property (IP) that the creators want to protect. Star Citizen for example - probably doesn't want to see their ships showing up in other space combat games without them being paid a royalty. They spent time and effort on the design of those. That's the basic line of thinking anyway. If the person doing the import checks and can find free/open license for the model, then it's a total non-issue.
see that what i was thinking, after there imported and i build the ones i build i do put my heart into them, i think its just not everyone cup of tea seeing models imported when i could just build it myself, well in truth i suck LOL so this is my way out. and tyvm for your comment
A valid concern, but IIRC, that really only comes into play if the import source is the actual game model files or the importer attempts to monetize or claim ownership of the result. Eleon certainly couldn't add these to the official game, but workshop should be OK. The artist of the file being imported should be credited, however. Not a legal thing, but a courtesy thing.
