Good, but remember many users might not go through the collection. I'd suggest including the line in each BP also.
CURSES! Foiled by the devs!!! I was playing survival when I noticed that the Orbital Station near the Trade Station still had the old constructors as part of the blueprint. The old 1x2x1 constructors, perfect for my small CV's. So I save a blueprint of it after I took the core and make it mine. I then spawned it in creative and harvested one of these old constructors so I can use it in my ship. Try to place it in the new ship, wait, what? It's putting down a standard 2x2x2 constructor? Noooooooooo!!! Outsmarted by the devs!!! BLOW UP THE BASE!!!!
Aside from any moralistic issues, there sometimes could be legal (read: copyright) issues. Creating, say, the Enterprise (NCC-1701) from scratch might be allowed, but directly importing could be.... problematic.... at best.
Had to go back and redo the aft section of the HV- I tried to walk out the door and smacked my head into the external hatch cover. So, of course, I had to gut nearly the whole interior to do it... but in the end, it looked better anyway- and I even gained space for a light and motion sensor Spoiler: More pics Then, I wondered what the flatbed version would look like with a drilling rig... so I borrowed the one off of Gatt's excellent Ningues Snow Cat to see if it would be worthwhile creating my own. Thoughts?
Really new, So not that complicated but funny. I was on my way back on my bike to my base, racing through a spider infested area, still quite far from base and knew I wasn’t going to make it before sundown. I had made a score on some cobalt and was all proud of myself. Hate the dark, creepy., They are all over the place and one jumps at me. Startled I hit “F” key and dismount my bike goes rolling to the deeper woods. it gets better I turn and see only one and I figure kill it before the others come and haul me away and knit me in a basket in thier cellars for munching later. I could figure out where my bike is and get the heck out of spider city. Though i have trouble finding the right gun, oh yeah, took the riffles off earlier to load some blocks and place them so I could through a window at them or use my pistal. it gets better there i am pew pew pew, can’t hit crap anyway as I back peddle. A stroke of luck i kill the thing. I must have put a round in my bike because it happen to be behind the critter in the grass and Boom..my bike blows up....IT BLOWS UP..clearing the grass so I can see the other spiders now. it was pew pew pew as sun decided it can now stop laughing and set yeah...
And now for something completely different....I killed a plant monster. And now for something completely different....I killed a plant monster that got into my sealed CV! I didn't know they could open doors!
Today I sat under the rescue shelter eating oranges, pulling o2 out of the squonk box, and waiting for the the PV to go away. Welcome to Omicron Start I guess.... I wish I had a bigger chainsaw....
I too started on Omicron. I wanted to try out the high O2 setting. Too fast for me. Half an hour later I changed the setting back to medium. Not sure if I want to try the fast food.
Does the copy/paste selection work for duplicating the old-style constructors? I really like those, if only for being "different" and giving some variety in POIs. That, and they are nicely compact - always a plus. Progress on the NXT has been slow going this week. After hearing the feedback on grow plots, I settled on a 3x3 space, but the design has been an absolute nightmare to try and get right. After many, many attempts, I finally managed to hit on something I think is worth keeping. Still working on it, obviously, but one of the major design constraints was that I had to use thin or half-thick walls on the one side, which serves as a wall in the medbay (behind scanners & a deco console). This was that 'design decision I might regret,' but space constraints being what they are, it'll have to do. I can only hope having small blocks intruding on the free area above the grow plots won't inhibit plant growth - but I honestly won't know until the entire ship is finished and sealed up. Maybe I need to clone a test version and find out before I continue on this track... I also got the communications array installed on the rear pylon. Looks better at night, but I'm happy with the results. Would've liked to include a small radar dish, but I couldn't find a way to integrate it smoothly - most attempts just ended up looking bolted on and clumsy. After some debate, I ended up using a portion of the hangar walkway to install an armor locker. Since I try to keep 'ease-of-use' and footpathing/convenience in mind when building, it was important to have a locker or two somewhere relatively near the ship's entryways. I ended up liking the design so much, I went back and overhauled the hangar and the Constructor hallway to match. Now I'm torn, as I liked the first iterations as well, but I want some consistency in the design and having multiple styles all over the ship would lead to a somewhat patchwork feeling. Will probably keep poking at the NXT's garden for another couple hours or so, but I've been replaying ME3 as well - as much as I enjoy building in EGS, I wish the ground-game was more fun.
SO since we all didn't know what is coming in 8.0 and when it will drop, i decided that since SV <=> HV docking has been a thing to discuss, to make a transport for the "small" HV i have been working on. I actually had to spwn it in a couple of times just to see if everything is within the bounding box of the max block count in all directions. My biggest problem is to have a nice looking front that connects ground access to the cockpit with upper deck docking of a 5 story high HV. I really hope we get deko blocks for SV/HV together with a couple of functional blocks like the elevator blocks. I am not sure if they are passable when being 3x3x3 in size, but the stairway from ground access, past the cockpit (which has two stories) and all the way up to the upper deck docking with access hatches makes the build way bigger than planned. Talking about "small ships go huge".
Last night, I was able to enjoy a short game session with @Friendly Timo and @rainyday We all worked on finishing up our collaborative CV. It was incredibly fun with all three of us texturing and painting together. Rainy's really very efficient with building and decorating, and I always take such a long time! It was so much fun running around to check what's been done with other spaces, and trying my best to do something consistent. I should've taken progress pictures! We almost finished the ship! Just one more game session will probably do the trick.
Not sure it's specifically looked down upon; For me I'm not sure I'm happy with the outputs from it; a bit too blocky for my liking, and often in a much larger scale than I'd ever work with. If it's more than 100x100 I've already lost interest; I feel I gotta stay within the survival spawn size limit. If you made the original 3d models yourself, then I'm infinitely more impressed. I guess a bit of it is also people may feel you're 'cheating'. They spend literally dozens of hours to get a reasonable shape and you go BAM. 5 mins search + conversion. ^^ That all being said, I've been considering doing a 3d-model vessel to see how it turns out, and to see if I feel I could convert the resulting blank vessel to my satisfaction.
Yeah, that old constructor is sweet. I actually have one in my first CV BP. ... but the BP is showing red (illegal blocks). Just FYI too @Kieve - doesn't really matter if the copy&paste works or not if the BP becomes red.
