Finaaaallly managed to complete a demo of what it's like to be able to walk around on a CV while it is flying. Curios? https://empyriononline.com/threads/new-scenario-trailer.36161/
Okay, turret update was here - no more homing green turrets. Good. The new turrets are still not easy - but they are much more manageable. Still, not taking hits seems to be pretty hard... I added some extra padding on the nose, just to be sure... ... and good thing I did It wasn't pretty - but I got a POI down. Xenu Armoury -- with one green and one red turret But hey - it's something! Encouraged by my initial victory - I went straight to Drone Base which was supported by another base... things went little less good. After things started to fall apart around me big time and I ran out of ammo, I had to pull out. POI's definitely are not total walk overs anymore - which is good You really have to go prepared - and you're still not sure to win. Still testing for tactics, but it seems more sturdy ships are necessary. 'POI buster' will be a term that won't be awarded to a SV or HV so easily anymore... Gonna rebuild my SV and probably upgrade my base. My living conditions haven't improved a bit since I built the concrete cube. It's still a concrete cube.
Which reminds me... I keep forgetting to make a Dummy Survival & test current POIs vs my Tyrax Emergency SV. (Though it'd also help if Dad would quit coming home so many of these Evenings & fucking up my Empyrion Time availability... which I say with some guilt cause it makes me feel like a crappy Son... )
@Starwing6 inspired me to pursue some adventures and have not had a chance to play recently but @LiftPizzas contacted me about updating those structures and I have some time soooo.... Glad to see you are enjoying them.
Reading all this stuff about tough POIs, I thought I should take a break from creative and jump back into my survival again to see for myself. I found a drone base. Perhaps not the toughest nut to crack, but I foolishly rushed head first into the attack. Actually went well. I haven't seen my Cassowary this torn up in a while. Lost both spotlights, two thrusters, one turret, and several blocks. When I looked around at all the wreckage, I thought, "Wow! There was a lot more drones here than I realized." I will have to do some more testing, but so far I am still loving my little Cassowary. It's not the biggest, baddest tank out there, in fact it was built as an enhanced point defense, but it has been getting the job done thus far. Here's a link for reference: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1213946949 I followed up with my Mini Nymph for combat inside the drone base. This time I lost one of the four gatling guns. A first for my Mini Nymph. Usually it is the spotlight I lose. Considering all the potential gains, this is very acceptable damages between the two vehicles.
As my new line 'Empyrion Ramble Allure' or ERA introduces SPACE into its structures, I still try to get the hang for it. Thus I tried something small, a rescue vessel, either to pick up a friend with something special, or as a starter SV to get to the moon with style May I introduce: And if you want to try it, here's the link!
Yesterday I was having some fun in SP while @Friendly Timo worked on his new space station idea. Back when we first started playing, he made a space station that looked promising but had many problems. We were going to fix it, but Timo decided to make another one instead. We were going to play MP after dinner, but I got a bad migraine. However, that caused me to just relax and watch Timo build. He built the central room and some of the upper extension, then worked a lot on the landing pads. He used the ship DSV-Banshee as a size reference because it's a large SV. At the point when he finished the landing pads, he said the extensions (to the left and right of this shot) were planned for solar panels before he realized they couldn't be added to a CV. So then he asked me, "What should I do that wont take away from the shape of the landing pads?" I asked him to move back a bit so I could see the whole station, and it's kind of weird how I just sized it up and saw it with a longer extension and three rectangular "pods" on each side of the corridor, then extend the corridor a bit more from there. He didn't really understand what I meant so I drew a really rough sketch on my tablet, and he was kind of unsure. So we did a single pod first, and then he finished up four on each side, with the symmetry tool. This is the first time ever that I've made a major contribution to any of his ship designs! I'm mostly asked if something is good or not, but I never contribute more than a suggestion or two. Not an entire section of the ship! Of course it still needs the third row of pods on both sides, and the extended corridor, but what do you think? It balances the station so far without taking away from the landing pad shape? The symmetry tool cannot be trusted with complex window pieces, so he's doing the viewing windows individually. Only the basic shape of the pods and window positions were from my sketch, and Timo added the hull details. I'll have so much fun decorating this station. That is, if I ever catch up on my backlog of collaborations I haven't finished with yet.
Hey guys! I made some progress with the new Frigate design. Slow but steady. I'm a bit low on inspiration lately, do you have any suggestions about the design?
Looks great to me. Only critique I might offer is, the upper arch/dome structure ends rather abruptly. Any way to smooth that down and make it a little sleeker?
Maybe I haven't dabbling in truly complex window pieces, but the tool seems to be doing better lately. Still not perfect, but good enough for me that I will place the window blocks and then go check out the symmetry to verify the tool placed the symmetrical window blocks correctly. When it works, it can save a lot of time rotating all the angled pieces to get them right.
got most model import requests but the USS Discovery needs to be finished first so going to do one thing at a time, lot of creative work ahead p.s. anyone know a good custom pve server?
Shot down the Piñata Planetary Vessel. I swear my Adv. Constructor is drooling. I am pretty sure I am Not going to miss Omicron any time soon. This place stinks. My base looks like it is make out of several Jenga games assembled by a dyspeptic Wino due to all of the myriad of fire-stomping I have to do on a constant basis, something I am pretty sure everyone experiences to one degree or another on Omicron. Also I think the Freman-worms are pooping in my azaleas.
I just went into a Dummy Survival Game, Spawned up & prepped a Tyrax Emergency SV, then assaulted POI after POI that I found close together to see how much I could munch after these recent Weapon Balance changes vs my past experience. I downed 2 POIs worth of Turret Defenses & over 10 Drones before succumbing to the Drone Base early in the Drone Base Assault & hitting Checkmate. Pre-Turret Changes, I woulda killed everything & still been alive. I notice no difference in threat level in the Ion Cannons, but the Laser Cannons are doing much better at anti-SV Defense then before. Still maybe not outright deadly in small numbers or small skirmishes, but they're doing much better then before at defying my efforts to Blink Tank them.
They are. They're surprisingly easy to train... The homing behavior was a temporary test. There will be actual missiles later.
Homing Behavior that's already gone before my Test wasn't part of my test. I am treating the Ion Cannon Homing that used to exist as "Non-Canon".
If the cannon wasn't canon, then who's on first? If you want to have a little fun, add "HomingSpeed: 3.8" into the ion cannon's ammo datablock in the config (Item 2203). It will go in with the range section. If you want to have a lot of fun, forget to enter the decimal
