    Only some harmless business today...

    OMEGA FOUNDATION got a Distress Signal from distant Planet Dune II.
    As most Forces were on Duty already at *classified*
    BASESTAR OMARON II got the order to assemble a small Investigation Force to go after that Distress Call.

    Sometimes these "extras" of creating and designing blueprints can be quite enjoyable themselves. Originally I was going to avoid creating any brands myself, then I did one and found a thrill in it. Realized not all my blueprints would fit under that one umbrella. The scope of my initial brand was too narrow. So instead of drawing up a new brand that would encompass all my blueprints, I created four different brands. I tip my hat to those who use a single brand and are able to keep their designs feeling like they belong together so well.

    As for what I did today, I took a little time this evening to look at my revised blueprint plan and assess what blueprints I plan to finish and release between now and that miner I recently created a prototype for. One was a partial blueprint I need to finish up some interior and signal work in addition to the usual texture and paint treatment. Three just need that texture and paint treatment. But two need the blueprint built from the ground up. Granted, both these missing blueprints already have concepts drawn up. So I spent a little time starting the CV. Now this is actually the middle, a sort of "wing" that will connect the pods in the back with the main pod in the front.

    Several pages back I posted a prototype high-speed HV called the Kabuto. This HV, the Sylpheed, is the product of that prototype. It's considerably larger, more full-featured and better armored, includes a transport capacity and under-side turrets. It still manages to be nearly as mobile as the Kabuto, with 21ms of speed moving left and right, which manages to still be enough to evade a lot of shots in the heat of combat.

    Right....finished the back end of my CV, and added my modular HV....not 100% happy yet but only fine tunning remains. It was build in mind that you can still have a "hanger" at the back without loosing space.

    Once i have loaded her up with all 6 SV's ill redo her color and take a proper photoshoot

    Thanks Kieve. I am trying this new modular type building to see how it goes

    All heavy steel but yes have not tested it yet.

    The texture is just a temp :p need a lot of fine tuning still including signal logics.

    I like that. Especially how the shape fits into the corresponding sealed hole.
    Now we NEED walking on moving ships. I imagine one flying the CV and another one running to the HV, get in the cockpit and undock mid flight while flying low over terrain. :-D

    You can make fibers from logs now too.
    5 mins with the combine harvester module on an HV gets you enough nitrocellulose to last ages.

    I routinely run a bridge, secondary bridge and a simple pilot seat in engineering.
    And I *always* run a spares box. Core, Cockpit, Warp Drive and Warp Tank at minimum. One of my CVs in survival has an entire micro-CV stored in one of the boxes, in case it all goes proper sideways and I need to print a life-boat in a hurry.

    I had a fun day in Empyrion yesterday with @Friendly Timo & @Starwing6 . We had multiple test flights to iron out the obvious flaws in our builds.

    First up was 'PSI Pack Rat' - which is not a full blown mining ship - more like support & utility vessel. But it can do some mining too, in addition to being a repair vessel in space.

    'Pack Rat' can carry 'Locust' HV repair vessel - we tested that by dismantling a mining hub on Oscutune. We were pleasantly surprised by the reach of the multi tool turrets. Sure, some tall buildings might be out of reach - but the three of us made short work of that POI in record speed.

    Interior of the 'Pack Rat'. I've tried to create a feel of a tight fit space vessel, it's not a big ship but it still has the essentials. So, narrow corridors, space saving solutions and so on.

    But I think the main event was the first flight of our collaboration CV which finally got a name - 'Decapod'. I'll leave the proper unveiling to @Starwing6 - but I just gotta share this screenie of 'Decapod' entering Skillon.

    Skillon was basically unexplored territory for me - so we did some exploration and maintenance of AMD's (Timo & Starwing had been here before).

    Scouting the area with 'Banshee' - another one of @Friendly Timo 's exceptional creations - still needing some paint to be finished.

    Also I had one of the most cinematic experience in Empyrion for a while - imagine the eerie background sounds of Skillon, together with the high contrast, toxic looking sky. You're in a trench and suddenly hear a loud scream behind you, followed by an overseer storming towards you with claws up. It was one of those fight or flight moments - we chose to fight and overseer was gunned down by a hail of lead. Somehow the situation was so 'perfect' that it almost felt like scripted :p

    Some faction-mates and I went raiding on the hard end of the custom server we live on. We found two Xenu Fortresses within covering range of each other, and a Xeno lab of some sort covering both. So many turrets.
    No screenies of the fight, it was far too frantic, but here's the aftermath -

    Was great fun; the repairs took longer than the raid, and were paid for by stripping the fortresses to the bedrock :D

    Last night I was able to enjoy a great game session @Friendly Timo and @rainyday :cool: He posted while I was just getting started, so I don't need to tell you about the missions. This is good, because I have a unique story to tell.

    As you know, we paid a visit to the Mining Hub and tore it up with the multitool turrets. It was so much fun! When nothing but a few blocks remained, we got out of the vessel to pick up all the loot. It was scattered all over the beach, and contained plenty of useful ore along with some special treats.

    @rainyday called our attention to one of the civilians who remained on the beach. (The others all went to the water, where they've been having a little party or something.) "He has four arms and legs," Rainy told us. We approached cautiously.

    He suggested we take some pictures and try to figure him out. "Who are you?" Rainy asked, but the alien remained silent. He began turning his faces to stare at each of us. :eek:

    @Friendly Timo pointed his pistol at the alien, and I aimed my trusty minigun at his torso. I refused to be distracted by all those limbs and claws.

    "What's wrong with you?" Timo demanded to know.

    We interrogated him for several minutes, yet he would not answer our questions. :mad: He didn't let out a chirp or gurgle--just stared at us with his creepy heads!

    I could easily sense the intentions of my factionmates, but I truly thought he should join the others in the ocean.

    I gathered my courage to approach it. "Hey buddy, do any of your heads speak?" I asked.

    "Why wont you just answer us? I'm a friend of Components Basic; you can trust us." He continued to stare. "Fine then," I said, "if you wont talk, at least go with your friends in the water."

    He did not even listen to me! I really couldn't take it. That guy was freaking me out! Thankfully Timo suggested what we were all thinking. "Do you have any explosives?"

    Without hesitation, @rainyday placed the charges, and the mutant alien must've wanted what we did.

    The aliens blew apart, flinging three separate bodies into the air! They were somehow fused together. It must've been awful for them, but at least they're out of their terrible misery.

    We approached the crater to examine the corpses.

    Once our grim task was complete, Timo began filling the crater with sand to cover them up. What if the other peaceful aliens found out what we did? What if Components won't trust me anymore? :(

    I watched in horror as one of the bodies rose up on the sand! @rainyday kept working hard to fill the area, as @Friendly Timo made a dark joke about the mass grave. Trust me when I say that some humour helps when you've murdered some helpless aliens and you're hiding the bodies!

    When the two others were buried deep in the beach, I finally got over my shock and joined in with my drill.

    The body kept rising! :eek: I even climbed on top of it to push sand from the sides.

    Finally the alien gave up his ghost--as they say--and we were free of it all. The men joked about the size of that mound, and how it was so not suspicious at all. :p

    Well it's done now. I hope only the Zirax will ever find the bodies, and that it'll strike terror in their feeble minds when they see that we even kill innocent civilians!

    Yeah, placing five explosives on that poor tortured soul was just too much, I agree. I shouldn't have done that and I'm glad the truth is now buried.

    ... four explosives would have been more than enough.

    I think you're correct about that :p but it's best to make sure the job is done when it needs to be done. We didn't want to cause suffering, after all. ;)
