Is it a bird? Is it a school bus? No, it is a WASP - Warp-capable Armoured Space Privateer © I don't really view it as a fighter, more like APC that lacks a turret or a small expeditionary dropship. This is the biggest SV I've ever built! I tend to go with function over form each and every time, so I thought of a small frontal projection, full armor carapace and decent maneurability - works every time, at least in PvE. With that thought in mind, I layed a shell and started playing Tetris with the devices. Frontal is 6*7 and covers forward engines well. I don't like how the wedgy middle row looks, but using half-blocks was a sacrifice in hp, other full forms were out of place also. Weapons are my usual mix of 2 gatlings and 2 rocket pods (guidance optional). Forward hardpoints can accomodate longer weapons with a little hull job. Partitioned the ship in three parts to have better damage control and protection from splash. BA rocket fire tests were reassuring - with additional grate shielding side armor withstood one hit with 7 hp left and no damage to internals, without shields the internals still held together, and the walls can be easily stripped down to make more room. A test run showed that medium thrusters are too heavy and I had to retool for small jets, even made an intake for them for the sake of realistic approach. Maneuring compartment looks like a snakes' nest now, may even apply for assimetric thread someday.. Yes, the warp core is placed perpendicularly and on the side at the same time. It is a great length-saving position, so why not? Tinkered with back door for half the night until I found a satisfying (maybe even the only) way) to come inside the ship without banging your head against the door or leaving uncovered empty space around. 3*3 ramp don't allow passing through until we have ducking/croaching as an action, that is 3*4. Cargo hold had a bit more space before the swap to jets, but everything a person needs is accessible from the center and some things can even survive an explosion of the engine. 3 seats are for show, and can be easily replaced with more storage space. Lever downs a ramp from the inside, as it is not visible, and two ceiling blocks are free to put some lights. I even thought of a red+green solution that would switch color via the pilot's signal as a drop zone indication, but went with a simple lamp out of laziness Stats are rather good, on Omicron a full tank lasts for 20 minutes minimum and a single gen heats up to 87% maximum, but no redlining The link: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1301734044 Take it, build it, fly it, blow it aaaaand leave your opinion!
Ok, we have a just over a week left in this challenge and I think I am going to back up my statement and set this up for voting for a winner. But I need to try a test run of this to see how it works! Please click on the link below and vote! I don't need a whole lot of votes but need some to see the results. Vote here: https://strawpoll.com/6kprsahp Just a heads up moving forward this seems like a good way to keep this fair. In event of a tie, i'll remake a new vote for a tiebreaker. Voting will also last for a set period of time to allow people to vote at their leisure. I also might change the entries to one per person. Since this is the first Challenge you are allowed to enter as many as you desire. Thank you everyone!

I did the same on my Tyrax Camo Hunter. Also that dude looks practical & 'do more with less' effective. Damn... i've never seen the Movie, "Aliens", so i'm not qualified to Vote on that Poll. I do too, though I don't often manage it in my own stuff cause when I try to do it in my own stuff, my Arceus Damned OCD screams at me... :/ I was going by the Specs as per the Statistics Screen... guess we're both floundering.
OK, back for a second try. This time getting the units (blocks!) correct! Many thanks to @StyxAnnihilator for giving me a gentle shove in the right direction. .........!! You've missed one of the better Sci-Fi Movies of our generation then bud. Right up there with the Firefly/Serenity series. Go grab some popcorn and a drink, and turn off the lights with the volume up! I may have to send @Hicks42 over there if you don't. He'll have something to say about it I'm sure... I like her colors - very bold!
Firefly & Serenity i've seen. <3 Kaylee. ^_^ Maybe one of these days I can catch Aliens on Netflix. & Popcorn to go with that sounds good...
WhhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaT!? Dude. You gotta! Get the special edition... more story explained. And you are qualified. I'm your favorite space marine!
Ok... where are you on the List of Choices on the Poll...? For the Topic: Partway through another try that hopefully doesn't suck at fitting in the Dimension Requirements... but i'm not feeling any confidence this'll ever be a Creation to be proud of... I just can't handle working in so small a Scale...
My apologies for the Double Post... but got an Entry done. I am NOT proud of this... but hopefully it at least fits the Criteria. I didn't even bother Painting, Texturing, Groupings, or Naming it... I can't build small worth beans.
Think u might want to be carefull using the rockets while full side strafing. Them projectilespeeds are slower and u might end up hitting ur own cockpit. Switching gatlings & rockets prevents that.
I have the same screaming voice in my head. Must...build...best...fighter.... (whatever that is). Just letting myself put pieces together works better for me, but it's sooo hard to not listen to myself. That, and it kinda goes against the whole idea of the competition or challenge, so there is that, but it really opens up building options when you start disregarding the rules. The way I see it, another challenge will come along again soon, so it's not like I won't get to compete ever again. The guys that can build highly functional, cool looking, and purpose built ships to spec, are simply amazing though, I love seeing that talent.
I'm can actually hardly wait till the next one, waiting another week is painfull. I'm ready now. Probably cuz i had time on my hands having a weeks vacation. Next week back on the job, energy drained most likely & hoping i'm still up for it then.
I really enjoy the challenge! It is coming at a perfect time too! With 8.0 on the horizon, my motivation to keep plugging away at my persistent world is fairly low, since I expect to wipe it all in a short time. So bring on the challenges!
