There doesn't seem to be a specific support forum so I'm posting here. I ran an Empyrion dedicated server for quite some time with no issues until recently when I had a hard drive crash. I replaced the drive with an SSD and rebuilt the system. I replaced Windows 10 Pro with Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise 64-bit. Now Empyrion fails to launch, due to an error: 2008 R2 comes with DirectX 11 and it is fully updated. Obvious question is, why is DirectX needed for the server when there are no graphics involved?
It's not necessarily directx for graphics. You need to install the distribution of directx that comes with the files
there will be a folder in your empyrion root folder called vcredist or you can DL latest here (which i had to do for R2) - https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=48145 Now take note there are a couple (2015, 2016, 2017 etc) and you will need to install all of them as i had to.
I downloaded it today via SteamCMD and there is no vcredist folder. Tried the link. The install failed stating there was already a version installed. I have everything from 2008 to 2017 installed already for both 32 and 64-bit, a requirement to install WAMP web server.
mm ok, let me think. I know i struggled just as much to get it to run on R2.... Thats why i eventually upgrade to 2016. I'll look for my notes and get back to you
