If it Moves send salvage corvettes, if it doesn't move send resourcers. Neat stuff here folks. Thanks for sharing your work.
Indeed - I think there's a more finished version somewhere in the orbit as well; It was a good practice to get the hang of shapes in Empyrion, and having a nostalgia to Homeworld, of course I went and tried to build some ships I saw there - you can see the progression here with ships in various stages of "completion" Sadly, most of the weird angles Hiigarian ships used didn't really translate well into Empyrion, so I'm slowly venturing off into my own "style" - but now that I think about it, that little asymmetric fighter I posted was probably somewhat inspired by Vaygr from Homeworld 2.
I thought I should share my first serious Asymmetrical build attempt: I started with the cockpit area as I knew I wanted to allow drone access from inside, once that was done I put on the wings and went from there. Upgradability was a core concept, so I included multiple weapons bays and a 'Warp nacelle'. It's cheap enough to build at L10 without leaving your starter planet (Smaller amounts of Cobalt is easy to acquire via trading), and once you have it you can get to the moon for more cobalt for the warp core and of course pentaxid. It is made from basic steel so you can't take many hits, but due to the layout of the systems you should be fairly tough to take down totally. Even if you lose entire wings & systems there is enough spread redundancy that you should be able to still escape. Just don't face off against PVs. ^^
I doubt it as well. They stated they have something else in mind for that operation (ie. dropship for HVs). But they also said they were going to bring in submersible vessels.

Major update on the Twilight Inquisitor. Detail's in the Steam description. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1368846779
I was already planning to put this ship here, but then @Fractalite told me to too, so I guess I'll do it now. The T4 Talon, an asymmetrical flying-wing bounty hunter ship. I guess it's kind of similar to @macklberry 's Twilight Inquisitor, but it looks a lot different. Spoiler: More pictures I hope you like it.
Combat version of my prievious build: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1381154152
Ok, so today I redesigned my first asymmetrical build and I want to share with you guys. I hope you like it And I hope that Eleon will make a updated version of this cockpit, it have best vision of all and flying in first person is great. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1383099467
Here's an asymmetric HV I built within a game organically that was reasonably practical: The original concept behind it was to make something that looked and felt sort of like a windsail. (It turned out a bit different than that.) It doesn't require a lot of resources to build, yet fits in several basics like a fridge and mobile constructor. I was trying to make something tall, instead of wide, so that it could squeeze through trees easily. It is obviously not intended for POI assault, just for basic defense against spiders and stuff. Flaws with the idea are: The turret is on one side so you have to park it oriented towards the side you want to defend against. In reality this wasn't a big deal. It doesn't have a harvester. For me this was a bigger deal, which is why I haven't used this much in subsequent playthroughs. Nonetheless I thought I'd share the idea in case it inspires anyone.
It inspires me to never make anything like it... just kidding, I think it's kind of cool. Reminds me of the carts they use to pick up golf balls on the driving ranges.
For the last 6 months or so I've adopted more of a nomadic style of starting, where I delay building a base as long as possible. This is partially due to the larger planets - I want to scope out the world more before I settle down. So it is really common that I start with an HV, not from a blueprint, but by slapping together the absolute minimum to make something hover, and it typically looks like something from a junkyard. Then I move around parts to make it better over time. Due to resource shortages, I've had HV's that don't even have all required thrusters yet, for example no forward-pointing thruster, so to stop it you have to shut off the power. You can actually "drive" with nothing but a backward-facing thruster, a hover engine, and an RCS. Don't even need the RCS yet if you build the vehicle facing the direction you want to go. You can always take the thruster off, and put it on another side to go another direction. Yes, this is absurd but when you just scrap together a few surface rocks sometimes you gotta make do with what you have. Get more rocks, build another thruster, now you can go left and right. The way some of these weird vehicles handle is very much like surfing, or sailing, or hang-gliding. Definitely not like driving a normal vehicle. They can spin uncontrollably and flip over if you aren't careful. The way it handled early on is what led to me actually making it look sort of like it had a sail on it, and eventually painting it up. I tend to move on from HV's as soon as I can cobble together a decent SV, so they're all just for a few hours. This was one of the more amusing "temporary HV's" I had, and the only one where the body was intentionally asymmetrical.
just finished my first SV build! https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1523582684&searchtext=
I find it annoyingly hard to make good looking asymmetric designs. I am working on an asymmetric CV battleship and for some reason it keeps getting more and more symmetric
Old builds, but I am submitting the Janus carriers. The light, not as much, but the top decks are A-symmetrical. The Medium and Heavy both quality, and have an added "feature" of an open-air pressurized landing pad. Light: Medium: Heavy:
Although the body as a whole is in symmetry i think the Banshee qualifies as an a-sym build... https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1542361709
My goodness, its been quite some time since this thread got some love. My last attempt at an a-sym was, well, somewhat less than I had hoped when I began working on it. This one... it just makes me smile. It'll be on the workshop to download very soon. Its a PVE "Science & Exploration Vessel" and its not designed for combat. Its designed to be comfortable and head turning. I hope y'all enjoy it.
