Make sure the new Landing Gear choice doesn't oversize the Build in the Height Category. 6 Blocks of Height max is awful tight...
Yep, I am aware, I decided that having that sections vertical thruster set be armored was more important than being able to dock totally flat. That is some of the reason why there are multiple forward pads, to make tilted docking simpler.
Repaired in Field revision.01 PUBLICLY available Blueprint now updated to workshop. Fixed this days ago evidently Forgot to upload it. Thanks for the check "Biggie" @Bigfeet
You're right, thank you! Turns out that actually cannot dock. I had figured since they were on the same block level it would work just like the other 1 block tall landing gear (which I have successfully used with similar bumpouts in the past), but it looks like the pad actually needs to visually touch the base/CV, which that block prevents for this specific docking pad. Just a misunderstanding of the mechanics of the game on my part. Told you I was a n00b at SVs I don't like the new landing gear as much visually, but I have updated my entry and it is now docking capable while remaining within the size limits. Thanks! Q: Does this block size restriction include anything protruding past those dimensions, including weapons, landing gear, or shutter (vents) covering thrusters? For example, if it otherwise has a length of 17, but has weapons protruding past that or shutters on the rear thrusters, would it be considered too big? BTW: I like to build my SVs long and narrow. Also, the Warp Drive alone is pretty big, with dimensions 3x2x5. So it seems necessary to build a ship around the warp drive.
It was the limit. So, no beyond that point. It did result in some creative designs to stay within the limit and still be functional. Oddly, when I look at all of those together my fighter seems alittle stubby.
Deadline time is drawing near! Hurry up! I figured I'd give a little heads up before announcing the end of the challenge!
this was a fantastic challenge. edit: your rules still sucked, but turned out great. This one needs more love, maybe another challenge. edit: so is there a time... or a range... ball park?
mine is made for function over style http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1311389341
If your is stubby, is mine fat? When I saw that picture, and then I saw mine in the lineup, I thought mine looked "big" compared to the others. Even some of the other big boys and girls looked slimmer to me in that aerial pic. Or maybe it is all just in my mind?
Here is my submission into Jens ZeroG contest. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1311412669
I've only ever found ONE thing in the game that can coexist on the same Block Layer with Docking Pads... Hover Boosters, & that's only useful to HVs. All other times, the Bottom-most Block Layer of a Creation Side, that is gonna be for the Landing & Docking, needs dibs on it given to the Landing Gear.
OK that is it! The First ZeroG Challenge is over! No more entries will be accepted after this post!!!! Again thank you everyone for joining in the fun!
That is stupendously gorgeous! Nice job! I especially like the look of the interior, not to mention how spacious yet compact it is. I love the sleek look and the well-designed interior. I think this might be my favorite.
Thank you. I really used to love cockpits but with acid rain and temperature and radiation and stuff I think walk in ships make more sense. I was not sure if I could make a reasonably strong (defensive) ship with the block size constraints but I think it came out ok for what it has in it. I also wanted to make something where friends could ride around in. I think the game is more fun when played with friends or family. I had my best adventures in survival with my GF. In a way I want to share that. I think its cool when people have their own little adventures and experience them together. THAT being said. We always took two ships incase one went down LOL Thanks for the comment, I hope you can try it out in game.
Doesn't seem to show up in my save games list - but no worries Ill just upload the ships and make a game of my own, thanks anyways!
Not sure what went wrong, perhaps cuz the build was created 1 patch ago, perhaps cuz there are 2 entries (Fractalites' Hades & Dinkelsens' Pharos L-SV) show up red in the bp list. The world build is in creative, so i thought that wouldn't be a problem. Gonna try again anyway.
S'all good, swapped the offending truss section for a flat docking pad; didn't change the overall shape or aesthetic and remains within size limits.
@rainyday & @Jenniphurr (or anyone else who wants to) Second try to stick a hopefully working zip file of a new save game with all entries lined up.Counted 42. Bare in mind 2 red marked entries spawned in (Fractalites' Hades & Dinkelsens' Pharos L-SV), not sure why they're red as such. I parked them at the last spots.
