I love the idea of making the most out of very limited resources. I do think the quantities of Iron might be a little low for the SV but thats just details right? Cheers,
So... when you say it must fit... how snug can it be? Also, is it any T4 SV? I used that one since its... pretty large. But, it fits! And the doors close. I was happy.
This was the reason behind the numbers, I found that HV's take more resources than SV's with their multiple HV engines and balancing weight blocks. I think I am going to start the thread, not as a challenge, but as a place folks can post their low-budget builds. Back to our regularly scheduled thread...
Yeah, they tend to. but my entry into the ZerG Challenge didn't have a single weight block. I balanced with item placement.
My entry is basically finished, I'll upload it tomorrow. In the meantime have some pictures. And yes, I made sure the T4 Nymph can dock to it. Spoiler: More Images The hangar was inspired by that of the Providence Class Dreadnought from Star Wars, I really like the double sided design, as it makes storing many vessels inside much easier. There also is a smaller hangar up top in which you can fit a small ship, or multiple tiny ones, like the T4 Mohawk Here's the cockpit, pretty straightforward. There also is a more concealed combat bridge, for when you need it. Here you can see the back of the ship, I personally love how the engine array looks.
Me and my friend have created this ship for the challenge. Steam workshop: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1334949311 Spoiler: More pics
Well under the weight limit, meets the thrust & material requirements. The most I could get the generator to was 25%. I was able to find the thrusters on the exterior of the ship, and they are behind non-airtight vents. No spotlights to worry about. The hangar is very large for a ship this size. Dedicated crew and medic areas. Very good block and texture work. Fuel/O2 tanks and devices can be accessed by the player. Only one bad thing, the evil gravity generator. Players can walk close enough to it to be roasted. It looks like it will be hard to move it back (or up) one block. Very good build otherwise.
Oh, i never knew that the Gravity generator gave off too much Heat Are we allowed tot make something changes?
Sure, just let me know when to look at it again. I am well acquainted with the pain gravity brings (I used to be a paratrooper).
Hi Robot Shark, just realized I forgot to mention. I've made the amendments to my submission; http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1330707121
At last I have time, at last I shall reveal the T4 Avian to the forums! It took some time, but here it finally is. This was a really fun project to work on, and I love how it has turned out. It's also the biggest CV I've finished to date, I generally focus on small builds. This bad boy is fully decked out as a carrier, and has plenty of everything. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1337713291
As I've built the Full Version, I've made some minor shape and texture changes to this Challenge Vessel too (without function changes of course): Spoiler: stats More pictures, descriptions and download (and some Teaser pics from the Full version): http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1326222167
@T431 I wondered how you could include so many M-Thrusters (6 on each axis).... and yep... you redline. ;-)
Redlining is a Check against a 3-Axis-Movement, like this manoever: W+A+Mouse movement 30min Flighttime is meant against a 1-Axis-Movement like just W Yes I'm nitpicking here, but what shall I say, I've got the same troubles - and I even DIDN'T redline in the first place with the default configuration... but you know... ;-)
Guess good performance will have to go in the trash to make this entry valid then. Unless @Robot Shark thinks differently ofcourse. Personally I'd argue that making turns in orbit are quite heavy maneuvers for a ship this size.
That's why I added multiple configurations... I hate slow accelerating and turning vessels... But you've seen the result. The challenge criterias are hard set. And when you can redline during flight (operations) on Omicron, it.... redlines...
