    That is the coolest thing you have made to date, but man don't rush it to the workshop. Fill out the interior with texture/color/symbols/props and finish it. Most people are not going to the workshop to look for unfinished items, they want something they can spawn in their game and make use of.

    From my experience and based on the feedback I have received for about 5 years now in regards to making spaceships/scifi buildings, is that people are most happy/impressed when it feels finished, as in something they would see in the future IRL, or in a movie, etc (obviously within the limits of what the game can offer in detail and fidelity).

    You have a stellar start with this piece...don't rush it for some instant gratification, work it till its done and then when you think its done, work it again because I promise you, its not done.

    This is beautiful, make it right, do the build justice.

    EDIT: If every surface is not hit with a texture, if every block face that you can see does not convey a reason to exist, the work is not done.

    oh only thing i missed was textures in 2 rooms on the wall, but i wanted the "i just cleaned the white walls look" on them anyway this is supost to scream corporate building in space so, but other then that yes i did whats needed mind you we dident rush on this build, it took us all day saturday and just got done 2mins ago and its now sunday thats a good non stop work for 28 hours and after i get some few kinks done ill upload it, then passing out LOL

    p.s. also a build dosent need to take weeks and months, but you are right throwing out builds like i did before i wont be doing, after this build im on a break for a while

    During the Christmas holiday I watched a few episodes from the 1st season of the old "Space 1999" series. My daughter really liked it, but we didn't have time to watch more before school resumed. I had a bit of time free this week so I started working on the "Eagle transport" from the series. I found a few models online to get me started:

    model.jpg

    The Eagle should be a "small vessel" but then I wouldn't be able to have the removable crew section, so I made an Eagle CV to which the SV "crew box" would attach:

    Eagle_2_views.png
    The ship using CV blocks, I got a bit away from the fine details I could have obtained with lots of SV small blocks, and keeping the Eagle on the smallish side meant having to make the 4 "engine nacelles" hollow to make room for devices. There was still enough place to put everything without making the CV too big relatively to the removable part. I ended up making many modifications allowed by the size of the ship to make it more practical, like a walkway in the topmost railing structure that stays at 22 celsius thanks to the shutter windows making the floor of the walkway.

    View of the cockpit (2nd image in god mode/ noclip inside the middle block) :

    Construction_Space-180313-2230_2018-03-18_03-19-55.png

    The two yellow "crosses" on top of the CV (between each nacelle) are made for eventual turrets.

    A - A view from the inter-modular door looking towards the back of the ship, with the crew compartment removed ;

    B - A view from one engine nacelle looking towards the other side, without devices added yet to show space available (each "nacelle" has a 2x2x2 blocks space which is not shown in the picture, just the corridor and "middle" space) ;

    C - A view of the "main engines" section at the back of the ship ;

    D - A view from the walkway, which also has a 2 "holes" over it to allow for EVA ;

    CV_details.png

    Another view with the mid part's interior, with the elevator going up to the EVA top exit or down to the belly shutter door, and another view from inside an engine's empty "nacelle" :

    Construction_Space-180313-2230_2018-03-18_03-21-40.png

    Side and bottom view :

    top-side-views.png
    Here is the "SV-compartment" undocking from the Eagle :

    undocked.png

    To give a nice look the space between the CV and the SV had to be very small, so docking requires to go slowly and use the external 3rd person camera, with only a few thrusters and 1 rcs to have really smooth maneuvering:

    docking_details.png

    This is the "SV crew compartment" :

    SV_details.png

    Both ships have very acceptable stats, the SV being at 57 m/s^ in all axis due to a ridiculous amount of thrusters.The SV has guns and ammo, it has good armor and a thick floor. And it's almost empty because we don't have many nice pieces of furniture or lots of devices to use in SVs... Maybe I'll make some with blocks.

    To dock easily, the SV cockpit is near the top and the pilot has to aligh both ships to the horizon (auto-level), then adjust forward / side position & rotation with the arrows. Once the SV is "engaged" in its nesting spot the pilot can easily adjust with eyesight lining with the boxes in front of him:

    Construction_Space-180313-2230_2018-03-18_00-49-23.png
    Here, one small bit to the left and once the docking pads are stuck to the ramp overhead the SV and CV doors will be perfectly aligned. Only problem is that going through the SV door requires the jetpack because the player seems too big for the SV door. I had the same problem going through normal SV's doors...

    Very nice! i like how you used SV/CV docking to achieve the detachable pod.
    I was/am a big fan of Space 1999. I did my own interpretation of the Eagle Transporter earlier last year. I was going for flavor and function over accuracy as my builds are to fulfill a need in my game as opposed to a design exercise, although for me, I guess this was a design exercise to see what I could do. I'm still learning.

    My Eagle is an SV based on 'blueprints' from STARLOG magazine. This is my largest 'built-from-scratch' ship to date.

    I wish we had the bell-shaped thrusters. I guess I'm just 'old school'.

    it is a heavily modified version of that "clone" i made of it.

    Not done yet, still try to figure out what to do with all the space. ;-)

    Great builds all around, and best topic on forum by far - and I as a ass as I'm :D just forget to visit it like 80% of the time... I just know to bubble in my lousy english on 'smarty pants' topics :confused:

    Anyway, new topic about "Poverty Builds" made me rebuild my basic little SV and make it more in line with my current alpha 7 'playset'. I don't have 'workshop' so I won't post on other topic but here, and my builds are not all that important. I'm playing EGS always with light RP and I'm using my builds to follow game progress in a way, so some of my personal vessels are having a bit of evolution in them :)

    ... so no special reason for posting, it is a shitty day here but I'm feeling quite fine and don't know why :)

    SBC Fly Mk.2 is basic exploratory SV, it was a bit smaller before and now new cockpit made it bigger. On second picture with my current non-warping planetary SV 'playset' big one in the back is (for now) final evolution of my 'universal SV' I started I think in Alpha 3, I call him Fatboi - first version was in size pretty much like this one in the middle, and it was not called Fatboi... that came with playing MP in Alpha 5.5 :D
    I made this biggest Fatboi version few weeks ago right after my first encounter with new & improved Zirax space turrets with new ranges and guided laser/plasma shots (that are dropped in next patch).

    I like the cockpit: it looks like a racoon's head ! I like when vehicles have a distinctive "head" that give them personality. Some cars have this characteristic, when lights and curves give the feeling they have a "face".

    Nice deco inside too. :)

    If we could have some "moving blocks" I would try to make moonbase Alpha for sure, with its travel tubes and Eagle platform elevators.

    Thank you. It means a lot coming from this gang.

    I was just thinking about those elevators. I have 'blueprints' (of a sort) for Moonbase Alpha. They were part of the Alpha Moonbase Technical Notebook I acquired many (very many) years ago.

    There are more, but they are 2 page fold-outs (no staple in the belly button) and I'm not able to scan them.
    Great color scheme! Really POPS!

    Yeah very nice looking ships (and station)

    Speaking of color schemes, I was about to publish a little sports harvester hoverthing, but made the mistake of trying some different colors with replace-all, now I can't choose which one to put on workshop :(
    Narrowed it to 10 and took a few pictures:
    20180318153512_1.jpg
    20180318153604_1.jpg 20180318153458_1.jpg
    Was going to go with black/tan, but John Deere colors are tempting too.. and grey/yellow is nice, as well as grey/black, ugh too many choices
    20180318151902_1.jpg

    As for other things I've been working on over the past few days, I'll throw some pics in a spoiler below
    A CV I was working on got hit by a meteor shower, was a bit startling since I was inside it under where they hit, managed to grab a picture:
    20180318154820_1.jpg

    I've converted Olympia HV into a fully functional submarine (full HV-speed while submerged), with a hover-propeller (underwater pics didn't turn out very good - water is very green on omicron)

    20180318082814_1.jpg 20180318082758_1.jpg

    Also this week I gave Industry CV an overhaul, retexturing/painting most of the interior and converting it to use lots of motion sensors for the lights/LCD's. Gave up on keeping it to class 5, it's just too frustrating not being able to use LCD's to label stuff, it's now just under class 7. See workshop for pics, this post is already probably too pic-heavy.

    And finally, I published yet another miner, XM-126D , an exposed thruster miner that might replace Wild-Bore.
    [IMG]

    Also been tinkering with other HV's, but nothing really picture-worthy.

    I've noticed a recurring theme or similarity among my ships to which I never gave much thought. Then, while digging up the Alpha Moonbase stuff, I found this sketch I did nearly 40 years ago when my fingers were more nimble and I could see the tip of my pencil (remember pencils?).
    2018-03-18 (8).png 2018-03-18 (9).png 2018-03-18 (10).png img001.jpg

    I guess the shapes have just been rattling around in my noggin all these decades and finally found a wau out.
