Work continues on my Imperial smuggler freighter thing. I added a bunch of trim and I took some inspiration from the Fury class Interceptor and added some 'solar panel' plating to the hull in a couple spots. I'm thinking about adding more guns to the exterior. Instead of the central gunwell like on the Falcon this ship's gunwells are in the side corridors. I could make a couple of small fake turrets that sit topside over the corridors. I'd like to add some more forward facing guns too. I saw a couple pics of modified Falcon models that had some interesting placements for guns. Gun turret deco would be nice. Or you know, actual small turrets for SVs. A bubble canopy gun like on those old WWII planes would be fantastic. I redid the galley/break room so far. I moved the table over to the left and turned it into something suitably Imperial looking. Put the kitchen on the right with a small table on the side with a couple chairs(not seen in pic). It has a little more character now. The interior is decidedly too monochromatic. I need to do something about that. Ninja edit: Yeah this will work. Now to see what other weapons I can add.
I have one question @siege . Is the range top an object you made? If not how did you do that? I know you can't texture the top of a cargo box so it has to be a separate block. How did you get it so thin?!
LCD display.....the idea for which I stole from @Kieve. Check out his KSV Aetheria LXS for that and a couple other ideas for LCDs. =)
*facepalms* I should have known. lol Thank you so much for the link! ETA: Oh my. That is one beautiful ship! *shoves her first CV further off to the side so no one notices it*
Yes, I could tell from the size of the blocks it's an SV. I think you may have just inspired me to finish a couple of SVs I started and then got frustrated because I couldn't do what I wanted to do. Making a bed and a dinette was relatively easy. It was the kitchen area that was driving me up a wall. I'd still like to be able to use some of the deco items like the beds/bunks (love the new bunks), dinettes etc as they save time and take fewer blocks. I'm also seriously considering adding the Aetheria to my game.
There is a reason for the "ugliness" of my prototype transport CV. And it isn't the trial for hidden turrets. I have been planning on doing something with hidden turrets for one of my future builds, something that ought to look peaceful most of the time yet still have the power to try and defend itself. The idea of doing this for my transport prototype just moved my timetable for figuring out whether this could even work with the existing devices. Spoiler: Pic Now the transport would look better if I let stretch out a bit, but I wanted it to work as a part of a display... which meant it had to be smaller than the 25 x 25 block limit. There is one existing device that I wish you could put on a base just like you can for any other blueprint, and that is a spotlight. I love the displays I have been seeing. Beautiful lighting on many of them. Great and beautiful lighting, but there is no spotlights. You just don't get that option for a base, so I thought of incorporating a CV to bring the desired lighting. Of course, if I do this right, the base should stand on its own because a transport CV is not a part of the challenge. Even if a CV isn't part of the challenge, does what I envisioned work outside the challenge? I think I am lighting up the "parking" spot.
Heh, I was half-kidding. I've had more than a few comments on that one from people who thought it was a CV at first. So far, the most amusing was a guy who asked me to add mining turrets to it. Also, be aware that the Aetheria is a T4 prefab as well - but the "LTS" prefab has significantly lower thrust (and a few extra weapon bays) than the "LXS" workshop version. I lurk even on the days when I have nothing to add to the thread. Been busy the last couple days, not much time for EGS. Loving the detail on that SW ship, by the way. I don't suppose I could convince you to tackle the Ebon Hawk afterwards? I've been a fan of Kezzler's version pretty much since I bought the game (it's the very first thing I favorited/subbed to), but it hasn't been updated since Sept 2016, and I'll wager you could work some real magic with all the block shapes & textures we've gotten since then. EDIT: So I actually did work on something tonight... And of course, had to give it a try. Pilot's reaction: "...are you f***'in kidding me?"
lol, nah, and I'm older than 46 but not born in '46 if that's the next question ;-) just a number that is more in my live than any other numbers...
so been thinking of future Aegis projects besides the carrier i posted but nothing really comes to mind for the past few days, then i thought "im still mission a shipyard" so after the carrier gets done here ill be working on a land based shipyard
I could maybe be convinced to take a stab at the Ebon Hawk next. I was up way too late last night working on the Imperial freighter. *groans* I think I'm finally done fiddling with the exterior though. *crosses fingers* I added several new turrets to the hull most of which are pointing forward so the barrels can be swapped out for actual weapons. 4 side turrets(alas just for show), 3 new forward turrets(two up top, one under the cockpit), and two new rocket launcher pods underneath. Spoiler Edit: Been slowly working my way through the ship today updating paint and textures and tweaking things here and there. I'm working on the crew quarters now. After that will be an overhaul of the cargo bays. Those are the last areas that need work.
Does anyone know the max mass that can be supported from structural integrity to an overhanging section on a tower? Basically I have a tower made with armored concrete created in space, spawned it on land, everything looks fine SI wise, when I add a block to the overhanging section (goes 8 blocks out from the last SI block), everything on the overhang goes bright red and it collapses. (don't have a pic right now)
