it is actually to keep you from sliding off the cockpit when you exit at altitude.... something I have Extensive experience with.
The Luggage Rack catches the Pilot so he/she doesn't fall... so technically, the Pilot doubles as the Luggage... interesting...
+1 nice idea! reminds me at the side railings I used for the open cockpit ARROW... To get out mid air having an elevated gunning position without falling down...
I use slatted windows for cover on a couple of my designs. However this one was made for level 7. less than 300 each of Cu, Fe, Si and 26 Co. So I wanted to avoid anything with sathium in it

Updated my Cargo Container for MP, but could not upload the updated pictures Improved the 'cockpit' slightly, added LCD's as section labels, added mobile constructor, oxygen station and an armor locker as well as automed the rolldoors and added oxygen supported to the 'internal life'. Its quite hard to add decorative details on this small scale, still, it is too large (larger than a normal container)... :| I was thinking to 'improve' my Trigon, by making it larger and add a regular hangar, instead of the open one... So here I am, making it larger and do some redsign along the way. Also the picture the CV_Light_Rag (WIP), where I'm still thinking about reducing the amounts of lights in place... Or make them 'toggable' to adjust brightness of these 200 spot lights. I know i've seen something like that in my 'early days'.. but not sure where..
I got my Base finished, but I have some difficulties with Steam to upload images, so I wait to release the blueprint until tech support find the cure. After lot of thinking, and trying this and that, the style dictated me to turn the base to a trading station. Now I'm happy I went on that road. First I wanted to create small CV imitations for the landing pads, but I just realized how much I do not like to build ships, and I come up wit the cargo pods. Here is few shots how it reached the final shape:

Todays work, got those half pieces 'roughly' textured and put them together (in creative), then added thrusters back in (in multiplayer). FYI: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sauwastika EDIT: Oh yeah, and made the CV_Light_Rig public.
While I admire your efforts to educate people on the difference, I think it will be a long, long time yet before the general public stops associating that symbol (backwards or forwards) with the Third Reich. Working it into the design of your ship is probably not the wisest idea and is bound to send the wrong message. Kinda like wearing a white hood to a NAACP conference. Other than that, I really like the way this one's turning out. The rear thuster assembly is particularly cool, though the pipes look a little messy and extraneous. Did you shield the hangar door with giant ramps?
In fact, I just wanted to protect the shutter windows somehow. Its just an easy form to fill a 3x3 field in a symetric way. If you stop 'educating', you stop to have a chance of a better world. And since some small minded, idiotic wannabe's, that are not capable of basic understanding of a generalisationed saying keep downvoting any and every new blueprint of mine that reaches the workshop frontpage, i just dont care anymore about such small things. Well, Nazis, by their philosophy, think someone is superior by nature and someone is inferior by nature. The former? Everyone else, the latter them. So, with a bunch of fascist dickheads running around making everyone uncomfortable, and some folks more than uncomfortable, I Find it quite easy to state that, like MLP fans, Nazis ruin everything. (Ok that last shot was totally unfair to National Socialists ... comparing them to Bronies.)
