The one thing I do NOT want to do is make things harder for myself. i play SP so if I find a "cheat" or "exploit", I'll use it. I've been playing a long time with many restarts. I've had my trials by fire and would like to spend more time in exploration / adventure mode.
@Myrmidon thanks for the inspiration the project was started ... Let's see how much the 8.0 keeps me from building.
If I have a particular design in mind for a particular purpose, I'll usually build it in creative but mostly I build on the fly in survival. I just have this bad habit of turning godmode on to build underground (build first, drill after, add more to build, drill more) or to put a roof on a base. You know, all those things you can't do when you need to in survival because you can't "fly". Of course, I've always been of the opinion that the jetpacks should be able to allow sustained flight but I also realize there are those who would always escape death by simply flying away. I do know that if I were caught off guard, and I were to panic, that would probably be my first reaction. Good old fight or flight. lol However, I don't always play that way. Sure we could build scaffolds and such but that is an awful lot of placing and destroying blocks every time you need to move it or if you just build more, eventually you will need to remove them. Unless you incorporate them into the build which may not fit the theme of the build. Ok enough blathering.
I likely should build more in creative. Some of my best designs have been things I've build on a whim when I'm resource-rich late game. I've got some great - in my view lol - CV and HV designs I've created just for fun. If I did more of this design in creative, doubtless my designs would be more visually pleasing. Now I'm testing 8.0 I've ignored that of course. I decided to build a from-scratch HV based on my very limited resources. It's fine, perfectly functional, but it looks terrible. However, my mindset is such in a Survival game - especially at this early stage - that I really don't care lol. It would actually be quite cool if there was a boost, or a new type of suit entirely, that allowed for sustained flight. It'd need to use fuel of some sort, but it'd be limited in that it could only fly as high as you could normally jetpack jump too, it'd then hold a hover at this level. Fun for getting around and avoiding some dangers, terrible if anything has a ranged attack. So sleepy, but want to keep playing 8.0.... I'll see your blather and raise you a ramble Scoob.
A hint for the final mission of the new Robinson Crusoe protocol, take your time and go heavily armed.
6 hours ago I finished downloading and started playing my first game. Having a little issue with the solar panels and killing myself not watching my food trying to find the core in the front section of the titan.
Alpha 8's planets are soo huge that even CVs look tiny inside them now. You really need the motorcycle now. The Device block limit is finally an OPTION in the menu that you can turn off!!!!!!! Time to build!!
Thanks. I watched 10+ hours of videos on YouTube on the game but I didn’t realize till I started that the videos were outdated.
I'm not yet on the EXP branch... too much hassle and bugs ;-) but I have something for you (not my own work though, but I modified it a bit ;-) Very good Manoeverability (Main 21m/s², lateral 7m/s², Pitch/Yaw > 19deg/s²), Very cheap (Iron 90, Copper 82, Silicon 64), and can even be upgraded into a deadly Meatgrinder! Better than the standard MotorBike ever was and ever will be! ;-) MotorBikeX : https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1370054036 GunBikeX : https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1370094907 (Friends only, but it's easy to upgrade from MotorBikeX)
HV can drive in Space, but not in Playfield's Up or Down direction (Even if Up & Down Thrusters are installed.), & slowly at best. Once ya Undock from CV in Space, your only hope is if ya can drive it into a Planet or Moon Atmo & fall to ground, then get out, & find a way to Transport yourself back to the CV to fetch it & land it to Reload HV. Followed by... LOL the Hypocrisy is real! ...
EGS is always changing, evolving, and often responding to player input. Even some of my ideas made it into the game (somebody else probably thought of it as well and had more influence, but you never know for aure. In general, the community here is very helpful. Don't hesitate to ask. I'm famous for asking seemingly stupid questions with minimum ridicule. We're about to get a major update, Alpha 8.0, which should be a real game changer and there should be lots of questions to go around. Especially from ME!
Psst dude... its on EXP. *nudges you toward the hole he dug under the fence.* It's Skeery in there.. *Drinks a Red Bull and scrambles back under the fence.*
Yeah, I spun the HV around and tried to use side thrusters to maneuver closer to the CV, but that didn't work, either. I did the "drive to the planet" thing in just my suit! It took a long time and when I landed, I broke my leg! And I still had to walk to my base. At least I didn't have to worry about retrieving anything as my ship had been blasted to smithereens by some no-good-plasma-totin'-space-turd! It was shortly after the broken leg thing was invented!
