I warped to another planet whilst going through the atmosphere of that one I was at. This was the result:
Careful warping to a size 5 planet- I popped out practically in the atmosphere like I was pulling an Adama maneuver..
8.0003 play has been a little difficult for me. I made a new HV and it was a flippy little @#$%. So I did some more work and got a decent little starter HV. Now many people say starter Hv and they have turrets and constructors and higher tier stuff...I mean starter LVL 3. The only thing is, it kinda looks like a bro dozer and I think I should have put exhaust pipes sticking up.....
Its been bugging me recently that I don't have any bases on my workshop, I tend to make them from scratch everytime I restart and never bother saving them. So to remedy this I got started on a new project today. I'm not really sure what direction I'm gonna take this yet, I might just make it with a prefered layout or I might have multiple versions at different tech and resources levels so I have a small collection for different circumstances. Anyways here's a few pics of what I have so far. It was just gonna be a low resource starter but it appears I just don't know how to keep things small XD The only thing I'm sure of at the moment is this'll be a largely subterranean base with a small outpost type above ground section that I can kit out with the necessities to keep me going while I hollow out the below ground section.
Mine is an old cabin with a large bunker buried in the mountain behind the cabin. Still a work in progress in my current game.
Looks okay to me and the closed cockpit is a big plus. I think that any SV with a harvester is going to have a purposeful look. Or, did you want the pipes sticking up so that you could roll coal on the Zirax?
Sounds like the same kind of setup as a lot of my old bases. In my last couple of playthroughs I've been trying to make larger surface bases but dammit I'm a tunneler at heart!
Same here. It's a habit from earlier versions where you could dig out a space and then line it with concrete blocks made from the digging. That worked so well that that I rarely built anything other than landing pads and AA batteries on the surface.
There is something undeniably cool about underground tunnels and bases. Do we think with the larger planets and decent attempt at Moria could be made?
Probably not - we lack anything approaching a Balrog. EDIT: @EleonGameStudios Does this dude looks sufficiently alien to be of use? https://www.assetstore.unity3d.com/en/?stay#!/content/52895
My first CV (partially visible in the back on the right side) didn't have enough space for my CVs (currently 9 or so) so I'm building another one with a lot more hangar space. It is more of a carrier + mothership, as with all these windows it won't survive a lot of punishment. But it's quite massive and has a huge hangar over a good portion of its inner volume. Either way, it is by far not finished yet. The back doesn't seem right and I am still undecided if I extend the chassis with a pod on each side (the small pod on the one side was a test).
I had a crack at designing a small pod like base. Took me a couple of hours to do and I think it came out pretty well. A little heavier on the resources than I had hoped and it's completely untested in a playthrough so I have no idea if it'll actually hold up lol. It's 99% concrete and wood so I imagine it'll explode at the slightlest hint of danger. Also I couldn't be arsed to raise the ground so it is partially floating.
Despite the imminent approach of EXP 4 and a reset, I'm determined to get a proper moonbase established... So far it's little more than power and oxygen, but I've begun digging out one of the hallway sections for expansion. For what? Not sure yet.
Hahahaha! Last night we had a funny, wild adventure. It wasn't entirely necessary, but that's often the case. So there was a little accident where one member of the faction did some repairs to the base and moved the core for us. We all wanted the core to be in a better place, but our dear factionmate might've been in a rush (incomplete note on the message board may have been the LCD Input Glitch that seems to happen when you edit a string of text many times on one screen, or that the player was in a hurry.), and the base was set to Private instead of our faction. Anyways, the rest of us were like, Logical answer would've been: wait just a little while for our factionmate to be able to play with us So I tried to fix it with godmode, but that didn't work. The Server Manager tool can probably fix things like that easily, but I can't install it in the directory of my server because it's a rented server. So godmode is the only thing, aside from editing the savegame file(s), but I've never done that and don't want to ruin our game by making a mistake! Well, @Friendly Timo came online to see what he could do, and he was inside the Hangar when he signed out last. So there he was, trapped in his own epic underground hangar. I looked over at his screen and it seemed claustrophobic to me! But we have an elevator to the surface that he put a door on, and he decided to shoot it out! We have a PVP starter planet (because we enjoy the risk of friendly fire and damaging our ships by accident, but it takes a high level of trust between all the players. That, and an antigrief zone of 0.) Since something on our base got attacked like that, I realized I can shoot the core and put in a new one. I did that with Timo's help (all our resources were in the Utilities Room constructors that we couldn't access). When we had a new core, I shot out the accident one, then repaired the damage the exploding core did to surrounding block. The base is relatively unharmed. It was really funny in a fun way, if that makes sense. I've never done such a thing of course! I think our factionmate locked us out (I mean in) because I think I recall him saying something once about a POI and a faction attacking it. I bet he wanted to make a little challenge for us! Good thing he couldn't add an alien core and spawners, I say! LOL Actually......... we should make and test some POIs designed to be a bit longer adventure for a small faction raid. We do a rapid slaughterfest in POIs. It's awesome and exciting action, but a POI that takes a bit longer to clear would be very fun... A lone wolf could enjoy an epic adventure taking on a place like that also, right?
I am not above eating some humble pie. That "faction mate" she is referring to is me. I can build amazing bases... I CAN TEAR OUT A POI WITH A CAN OPENER... THE VERY UNIVERSE IS AT MY BECK AND CALL!!!!!! *sigh* ... and I forgot to set the base parameters to "faction" so my wonderful faction mates had to "raid" our own base just to make a sandwich... Fractalite <- Dumb.
