Wild - can you post that BP? I would like to point magic magic land towards this for a project regarding and organizing for small, cheap T1 and 2 prefabs.
Found a place to shoe-horn my shacks and stuff onto. I sense a theme building in the game toward cheaper more ... 'disposable' *or at least a 'Not much lost so not much butthurt'* kinda direction. In a related note I like moving dirt
Actually, it takes getting used to turning things to a faction setting if you haven't been playing that way for long!
That is a great example of emergent gameplay... players discovered something unexpected and worked together to resolve it within the context of the game. Your crew should go into business. Have a base, need a core moved, don't know where to start? If no one else can help and if you can find them, maybe you can hire the Core Team!!
Today.. I met Mr. Angry Constructor TM He is NOT Recursive Apparently he shows up when you have More than 3 constructors down. And is the most passive aggressive appliance I have ever used... my Mr. Coffee Espresso maker included. I like him. He has a sporty t-shirt. Spoiler: To save space and Not be a hypocrite, Here is what I was working on when Mr. Angry made his debut. A fanciful little addition to my Hut to power it beyond solar in preparation for Constructor upgrade. One T2 fuel cell is a lot of duration at idle and since I won't be bent out of shape if the hut goes off-line if it runs dry at night (no fridges or turrets.) I will bow to the forces of 'that looks neat!' this time. A single small generator is all I am projected to need for the foreseeable lifetime of this base. I felt submerging it partially would be appropriate from a logical perspective. FlyoverShot! MOAR SOLAAAR!
I've been hard at it working on my base again, Its going together a lot faster than I thought it would! Saying that I've probably just jinxed it.... But anyways here's a few pics. This is still very much a work in progress, I like to get the texture and colour on early so I can find all the bits I really hate! XD
I'm still waiting for Lights to quit being murder on FPS. I'm still afraid to use any, other then of-use Spotlights & needed Grow Plot Lights. Old & fun Bug that i'm glad the Devs aren't in a hurry to fix. Hmm... looks like a good substitute Balrog to me if scaled large enough... Could be interesting having dudes so large & strong one would want a Hover War Tank to take'em... & with Ranged Attacks that'd make them actually harder to defeat with a SV then a HV. This is the kinda thing why I like to have my own personal space, personal stuff, & Control Freakedness over my own stuff.
I really cut lights out as much as possible for other reasons.. *It Burns US!* and have been happy with a more minimalist approach. That isn't to say that sometimes you Don't need to Light it Like Spielberg Shot it. CC3K But ya know for useful reasons besides impressing the monkeys on that third rock.
Why some people insist on taking snapshots of their work with low light is beyond my comprehension. Guys/gals....you want to show the rest of us your work. You maybe spend lot of time on building something and it is obvious that your brain has all the details, but not our's. For us it will be the first time we see your work and we need those details highlighted. High-Lighted, do you see what i did there?
Sometimes it's to show off glowy emissives. Sometimes it's for dramatic effect. Sometimes the Daytimes's Light Color clashes with the desired intent of the Pic.
My one and only beef with "giant" enemies - and this is in most games - is how they basically end up being damage sponges. Shoot, and shoot, and shoot, and that HP bar slowly declines... Sometimes you get something a little dynamic, where there are certain weak points, or they do change attack pattern at certain HP levels, but it's very very hard to make massive enemies interesting. (Shadow of the Colossus is the only game I know to have done these fights well, and they accomplished that by turning the bosses into platforming puzzles!) It looks epic enough, but it mostly ends up being an endurance contest. And EGS combat mechanics are not nearly advanced enough right now to offer anything approaching an engaging experience. In theory I'm all for it, I'd love to have a few giant monsters in the game. But that'll have to wait for whenever we get a real combat overhaul - crouching, dodging, responsive enemies and weapons, and whatever else Eleon considers pertinent to their vision. Well, you have a point, but when you're playing with a small group of good friends, being that isolationist would feel antisocial and rude, IMO. It was nighttime on the moon and I had to go to sleep. Survival mode - no "hand of god" to control the time slider, and couldn't wait for Dawn to show up. Sometimes we do the best with what we have.
Don't want the big dude to feel like a Bullet Sponge ya'd have to just Endurance Down over 2 hours? Hover War Tank! I've never got to play it, but there was this Dragon Quest Spin Off where ya play as a Blue Slime & one of the Boss Battles it had sometimes was a sort of 'Tank Off' where ya Pilot a Blue Slime themed huge War Tank & fight an opposing Boss's Tank. That's the kinda fight I have in mind, except the foe could be a Zirax Hover War Tank, or a large Mutant T-Rex-like foe, or maybe a PV... plenty that could be done here. It'd be like ya were using you Hover War Tank & engaging in a sort of 'Boss Monster vs Boss Monster' kinda Combat.
If they get AI going for enemy HVs/SVs, I could see that being fun - at least you have the visual feedback of blowing bits off the enemy. I was speaking more to "giant NPC" models, and the current state of AI and animation.
I understand about the lights glowing at night, but in this case it would be more prefered to have mixed night and day photos. Also no excuses regarding time of day they it was on the planet when taken. In creative mode we have available the time slides and in survival, the console commands. Prefer dusk or dawn better. At least try.
And in case you missed it, it's @Starwing6 's multiplayer server, so it's not like I could just 'godmode / debugmenu' and fiddle with it myself. Different rules entirely when you're playing in someone else's digital space. Meh. I actually agree that night lighting sucks, but sometimes it's out of our control. */facepaw*
Now that ya mention it... watching Giant Boss Monsters's Limbs blow off would make the Hover War Tank vs Boss Monster Combat that much more satisfying... *Imagines Boss Monster trying to punch my Hover War Tank, only for me to 'catch' the Punch in my 2 Harvesters set up like a sort of 'Metal Mouth' & chewing the fist right off the foe, then blowing its Head off with my TankArtillery Turret...* Now THAT'S how ya sell games... Then on top of that ya were able to BUILD what ya fought that foe with... Oh, & if the 'Metal Mouth' had Auto-Harvested that Boss's Fist & even Pre-Tenderized it... then ya could take it home... cook it up into a 'Boss's Fist Hamburger'...
seems 8.0 is having major issues when it comes to getting them server worthy so i dont see it coming to stable for a good 1,2 months, till such time ill play other games when 8.0 hits im pop back in but im done with unstable to buggy, and im no tester. on a side note; with the down voters in force ill be holding any new public projects to friends only for a while after 8.0 hits even if i build for me and my friends it still bothers me at this point i rather have hateful comments instead of them being petty and hiding in the shadows thumbsing my work down just to thumbs it down. but it wont stop me from building.
