    A viable Strategy, in exchange for you're blowing up a significant amount of the Prize, thus sacrificing amount of 'Payout' earned. :)

    With that said, sometimes it is just plain fun to go in with a Hover War Tank & blow the hell outta a big POI & not even bother to think of 'Payout' at all... Hell, if ya are doin this while not feeling mentally well IRL, this can even be outright Therapeutic! :p

    - Helmet light still doesn't save it's state: automaticly turns off when entering vehicles, but doesn't turn on when exiting...
    - Portable constructor is disabled when placed (btw. does any other device do this? 0o), even though there is no reason for it to EVER be disabled. (only as a "workaround" to remove stuff from the queue, which is another issue 0o).
    - Some devices can not be "turned off". The only way to stop them from using energy is to remove the block. (e.g. drills)
    - Drill turrets have to be manually turned on and off; use energy even when not being used (well, at least they can be turned off? ;))

    Frigid has long complained about these kinda Issues also plaguing the likes of Fridges as well, especially Fridges not currently having even one Item to keep chilled. IMHO totally valid... but alas, Big Fuel seems to be paying the Devs to forcibly keep things inefficient... *Pretends to put on Tinfoil Hat* :p

    This post can be skipped. All is right with the world once again. :D


    Well since the mods don't seem to be interested in reviewing the thread I created to ask about this. I've been waiting at least an hour and a half for it to be approved. Why it needs approval I have no clue.

    So anyway, here it is.

    "I'm so not a happy camper right now.

    I was not going to update to 8.0 but it updated automatically (which really pisses me off, it's MY computer, MY decision) before I had time to go into some of my games and save the builds I want to keep. But now, those games show as corrupted while NONE of the creative saves show as corrupted.

    Can I
    a) load the "corrupted" game anyway and save my builds or
    b) can I save the games as are ( I didn't launch any of them, not even the creatives) and then copy them to a new install of 7.6.1 and rescue them that way or
    c) is all lost and I must abandon those builds I spent hours working on over weeks and sometimes months?

    Please, tell me not all is lost.

    And before anyone starts trying to rag on me for not doing this before the automatic update :mad:, come walk a few miles in my moccasins."


    ETA: Where will I find the dl for the 7.6.1? I'm looking but not finding since I don't know where to look.

    This has been around for a long time but I thought I would point it out.

    Small full armored steel blocks = 200 HP
    Small thin armored steel blocks = 100 HP

    Small armored window blocks = 150 HP
    Small shutter window blocks = 200 HP

    Windows are stronger than a solid (thin) block? :confused:

    Plus i'd really love SV & HV versions of Heavy Windows... especially for experimental use in Open Cockpit using Hover War Tank Design...

    You took the words right out og my mouth!
    Other than the visuals, I am not impressed with the 8.0 update. I was just killed by a SWARM of spiders that are either impervious to my new "defense tool" or else they multiply when hit. Of course I can't tell if I hit them as the cross-hairs STILL get lost in the action!
    Since my backpack was dropped in the middle of the swarm, I did a fresh start that landed me on another part of the planet with an empty capsule in the middle of another swarm of spiders!!

    I didn't like the idea of having to start all over again, I did my survival training 2 years ago. Now I'm into exploration, colonization with a few skirmishes for good measure. I thought it would take an intervention to drive me ftom this game. Apparently all it took was 8.0.

    Don't give up yet. 8.1 will be out next week and they have worked on the problem (game saves) so it may be fixed. They've even said they will be adding an option to turn camera shake off in 8.1. So they did listen on those two things. Not so sure about the spiders. I really don't want to find it necessary to hit gm just to keep from dying in the first 5 - 10 minutes of game play but I will do it. Because, to put it bluntly (as I so often do), fuck that. That is bullshit and the perfect way to lose new players within 15 minutes of installing the game.

    Besides, us oldbies need to stick together. ;)

    Just hopped in for the first time in months. Followed along the Robinson protocol on a mild temperate starter planet. Pretty amazing good changes to look and feel and the landscapes!

    Made it to the "signal" and got the motorbike and some sprouts. Then the PDA was leading me way across in another direction. Made it to the "Alien Tower" and fell inside. Spent 10 minutes looking for the "lever." No lever I can see in here . . . click finish the stage. It chastises me "Are you sure! This tutorial is brilliant! Read what it says in the description!"

    . . . there is nothing written in the description. Click. Panel flies open and there is my lever. Hmm how was I supposed to find that given it was in an alcove . . . anyway okay, next step . . . "read the blocks" yeah, the blocks are in cuneiform, nothing, nothing . . . nothing, nope still nothing. Okay this is stupid . . . click finish the stage: now I get a description of what I just "read" on the blocks. Ah, right its telling me they are unintelligible . . .

    I think I made it a step past that. There was a critter growling in a room I couldn't get into and clicking "Escape" didn't make the prison cell go away.

    I'm done!

    Pretty good tutorial right up until you trapped the player in a box that is apparently bugged. Good way to turn off new players! :p

    Also: performance for the game seems worse than I recall. I vaguely recall this game has always had issues with memory use (or symptoms that are suggestive of that).

    Still one of my favorite games, but that tutorial section with the tower is bad. No point in playing until you fix that, or I track down the console commands to just skip through it.

    I can appreciate the interest in tutorials as a way to help new players, but sticking them in a bugged box that they cannot escape from is like the exact OPPOSITE of what you want to be doing with a tutorial! :D

    There is a panel it tells you to press up against in order to break it open, and the lever is just inside.

    Though the devs might want to consider having self-destructing blocks not literally explode, since I've noticed they damage surrounding blocks and it wouldn't surprise me if the switch could accidentally be destroyed by the loss of the panel, which would than definitely result in the above scenario.

    We'll see. I have long held a fear that the game would achieve a complexity beyond my powers of comprehension. After reading the responses to your thread on this, I think perhaps that time has come because I couldn't follow any of it. Maybe if I hadn't been drawn to the darkside using a custom config...….NO! AAAH-HA-HA-HA-I-I-I LIKE IT!! I've tasted freedom and I will not be shackled again by absurd balance decrees!
    I think I'm overdue for my meds.

    p.s. for some reason I had to wait 21 seconds before I could post this reply and I didn't even use "f--k".

    What do you mean by "it tells you?" I didn't see any description at all in the PDA INFO pane. I see reference to "custom configs" and a recommendation to delete them before making bug reports. So maybe I need to do that . . .

    Every objective gives you a prompt at the bottom of the screen telling you what to do next when the objective comes up. The next objective marker once you go in after telling you about the place you're in tells you to press up against one of the panels.

    lol That was just so I could rescue a few builds I had going that I wanted to keep and improve on. One of which is my ramshackle cabin with the wine cellar hidden bunker. It required nothing more than reverting back to 7.6.1 which really is easy to do once you figure out what the strange verbage means on Steam. ;)

    Now all I have to do is save everything as a blueprint once I've finished them since I now have all but one, I think, in a creative mode session. That is, if I can stop building long enough to do it. :oops:

    Only thing I can figure is they turn on moderation for releases so they don't have as much crap to clean up when people start attacking each other. Other than that, many forums make you wait at least 30 seconds before posting again, for the same reason. It can give some people a chance to cool down and rethink what they are about to post.

    On the other hand, beats the hell outta me. :p

    I didnt have a problem with that tower at all, not sure what happened in yours but after falling into the "Trap" you just walk around the small room and a panel flys up or blows up to show the switch, it introduces the player to motion sensors and things like that and how things can be hidden, you hit the switch, then just look at the wall close and it gives txt about reading and opens a door out saying some aliens may have heard the noise and gives you 2 or 3 aliens to kill. That way you are not overwhelmed by going to a normal poi.

    Also you can just plain skip the Robinson protocol completely, its not needed to play the game.

    It gets worse, it seems they made EVERY POI with the word "tower" in it's name an admin POI that cannot be salvaged for parts.
    ... even the ruined tower.
