Today I started a new game in Survival and updated my low-level starter shacks for 8.x. They are all LVL 3 and the 3 bases have the exact same floorplan, but they come in Steel, Concrete, & Wood so you can choose which one to build based on available resources. (I really need to update the Steam screenshots)
Bug Report worthy. Something may be wonky with the Laser Drill Code & Weapon Gimball Code trying to Co-op with each other.
It was foggy today: Bases are built though and protected by a perimeter of fearsome solar powered minigun batteries:
Stopped by a barren planet on the shakedown cruise... better believe we came in low and slow for this one: Can't decide if the scene was more ominous by day or night...
Went to the moon for cobalt. Now I am making the small vessel warp drive and fuel tank to insert into my small vessel. Spoiler: Pics Perhaps I turned down more graphics features than I needed to, but something was hitting hard when I transitioned to space. Something seemed out of place with this wreck. I forgot to pack along spare ammo or I would have spent more time snooping around this thing. I wonder if it could fly. At least a couple thrusters were firing? I only blew up one door and looted a few boxes. It's not my fault the engines are firing. And back to the planet because my small vessel doesn't have its own constructor yet. My haul of cobalt should be enough to get the basics together for my first warp jump.
Leaving the lava planet with a hold full of erestrum, zascosium, and promethium. I had to laugh, though- when I first came down to the surface.. of the lava planet, mind you... the first POI I found was a log cabin... Of course, it's easy to be happy when you're rich. Found a gold asteroid in the field before this orbit. Did I make coins? Hell, no. I made EVA boosters...
Hi, just "arrived" on that planet ... how many days ago? Lost Counting due to important tasks for surviving. Maybe i can find a log somewhere. Still getting used again to all the functions of my equipment. Maybe I hurt my head somehow during the landing. ... I didn't write this log from the beginning ... remember - the survival issues. ... Achievements so far: - survived the first day and night - build a protective suit - build a coast base with the very necessary things (very spartan, needed the ressources for basic equipment) - "purchased" a prebuild HV (still wondering, who constructed and delivered it in exchange for overpriced ressource payment) - improved the hover over time to serve as small mobile workstation/protection platform, while working on or below ground (hint: upside down turrets are effective against spiders) - build a shuttlecraft (SV) for faster exploration and searched for ressources - learned about the personal drone and my jetpack (never realized, that i own such helpful stuff ... never got trapped in a mine since then - but that's another story) This story happened, when i didn't have my shuttle yet. I tried to find some wreckages near one of the poles of this moderate planet. When i discovered a promethium spot, that i wished to find since days, i was attacked by half a dozen spiders at a time. With my HV I couldn't shoot them, because there was no turret mounted back then. I even used to dring fruit juice for healing in lack of medic equipment on the HV. Ii managed to dig into the marked promethium spot, only to find it empty. I had no ore scanner at this point. I tried it very hard and with different methods. During that time, my HV got attacked by spiders. When I tried to get rid of them by using a single front mounted machine gun weapon, the HV got seriously damaged by these annoying animals. The weapon was nearly useless, due to bad aiming capabiilities. I never thougt, they would be able to do such big damage to my vehicle. But they managed to break the generator and even the core! So how the hell should I get to my base again. It was more than 12 km away (which would mean 1200 if it was a earthlike sized planet). So i would have to travel some weaks by foot or some days by motorbike. I nearly was giving up hope, in the foggy, dark, cold and triste environment of the polar region. But dying (and leaving my stuff there) was not an option for me. The portable constructor was my only hope. At least my suite kept my warm and protected me from radiation. Without it, i would have surely died there. Of course i didn't take spare parts or ressources with me. (I wouldn'tt make this mistake again nowadays). So i tried to figure out, what i would need to produce the generator and the core. It would take more ressources, than i would have been able to mine from ground rocks, before i was eaten by the spiders. Not to mention, that my ammunition was limited, too, as it was food. There is growing astonishingly less in the permafrost zone. At least spiders constist of some meat ... ugh! I had to salvage my turret and some other optional components, like my loved fridge, in order to get the main count of the ressources for the two needed components. The missing intermediate products I had to build from the ressources, I collected within sight of my HV - not to attract to many new spider "friends". And I did the unbelievable: I really could produce the missing main components for getting my HV to operate again. So I finally reached my base, took a bath in the ocean and slept for 2 days. Surprisingly i was not killed by the spiders. If you stay in a very restricted area, they won't come to you at all. This game experience was more, than I would ever expect, when i bougt it. I didn't manage to leave the planet yet. That is the second big expectation I have about this game - the space experience. But I already love this game so much. Respect to the creators and developers. Of course there are some things that have to to be carved out a little bit. As far as I can say, it's the space survival game I ever wished for. (Not the nonplusultra wish. That would be Shores of Hazeron with the useability, building experience and graphics of empyrion.) Emyrion made it to be my favourite game now.
Last night @Friendly Timo and I extended the underground hangar to have a docking bay for our faction dropship, Gargoyle. Afterward, we built a ramp for HVs to get down to the bottom. We weren't lined up well enough to have HV access to the main hangar, but we'll have also an additional Repairs base the HVs can be fixed up at. I started texturing and painting the HV ramp and parking, but we left for another visit to Seyado. Then we crashed into the planet and all died a fiery death! Just kidding, but we discovered the tech that makes the planet's holographic outer shell is inside an Illuminatti installation! It has technical issues when additional ships pass through the holographic shell at the same time. Look ma, it's a flying @rucky !
I am with fog nearly all the time in starter planet lol Sometimes I have to type weathersv Clear haha, i live in england I have seen enough grey and fog . Sunny blue skies are lovely in this game !
I recommend Option 1 for lookin at that Mug on the Character Creator, & Option 2 if that dude's sitting in a loaded Mad Max style Gatling Rig.
Today in Empyrion I'm looking for an Advanced Constructor that I can use or loot. I'm trying to scavenge and loot rather than build or make things. I found a nice fixer-upper, the Ancient Shelter, and I made it airtight and spruced it up a bit. The HV in the yard started as a micro. Now I'm building it up and arming it. The pic makes me laugh because if the HV was a 2001 Pontiac the place would look just like some of my hillbilly relative's houses.
Last night, I fended off drone attacks. Tonight I’ll fend off drone attacks. Seems a pretty common pastime, but they keep dropping fuel for my generator, so I keep putting them down. I also discovered an abandoned reactor full of nasty scorpion things. I was able to clear them out and found what looks to be some kind of scorpion nest below it. There seems to be some manner of container down there too, but I can’t find a way to get to it. I was pretty beat up by the time I was done and have been recovering from my wounds. Once healed, I’ll head back to that reactor and figure out how to reach that container.
A-ah, this looks more like a repair bay... Now to the vessel... It's PVE, for hunting and taking down POI defenses... No cargo capacity, just O2, fridge, jets, and guns... Spoiler: Pics Headlight Spotlight
Haven't touched EGS in a few weeks, but I have quite a few A8 builds sitting around waiting for me to upload them. Although the uploading didn't happen, I finally popped back in for a long photo session, to get the requisite "showing off" pics for workshop submission. Among them, my little family of Wildcats. Left: Wildcat SE, lvl 7 with basic steel hull. Cheapest "starter" version. Right: HSE, lvl 7, hardened steel. Original version. (If you've managed to get your hands on some sathium or Hardened plates, probably the better option). Center: XJS, lvl 10 jet engine version, hardened steel. Slightly larger, includes O2 station and more storage. Several BAs in the mix too, most of them already posted several pages back (no substantial visual changes), won't bother repeating them here. Did get a nice shot of Pinnacle on a mountain top though. Seems to really suit the place. The view from upstairs is pretty impressive too.
Pretty much the only thing I did, aside from finish raiding the abandoned reactor. Pretty sure all the scorpion things are gone, and took out the core too. Fort Ithica is pretty close to fully-featured. I still need to upgrade the constructor, but I've got pretty much everything I need here, plus some decent defenses. Even got a decent little greenhouse growing the important things.
