Gah, I keep forgetting about that being added to the game, thus Exceeding Max Weapon Count & playing Vanilla at the same time being possible... >_< Many thanks for the Reminder!
You are welcome Hehe so true, unless you play on servers with unlimited weapons, and 'always' share the blueprints to the workshop (at least in your mind and thus...) - with limited weapons in mind (my -=Sephrajin Carrier=- (7.6 (the 8.x update will have regular weapons only) / red version) aside)
I am starting with the larger CV's and working my way down while upgrading them. Today's project, the colony transport Cerulean Star. I gave it a med bay and finally got around to making the crew quarters. I also fixed two of the hallways that did not have O2 because of how the game calculates O2 around thin blocks. <sigh> Finally, I removed the fuel feeder lines to the core because the "pipes" no longer sit flush on the engine blocks.
more turrets? not rly dude, but more specific ships would be nice if you try a look into the ship lists - what are you missing? right! - ship classes! actually we have the ship size class included how 1-100X ... but 1-5 are standard in the config files. why this classes are in values? and not in IDs? ... so you could say ok ... Ship Class 2 was a Cruiser and the max allowed weapons are 4 minigun and 2 rocketlauncher or so. it restrict the classes itself, but for rpg or pve servers - it would a very nice clue
Today was a busy one for me. After all the work getting Fort Ithica up and running, I started work on constructing my own SV. Turned out pretty decent - a pair of miniguns and a pair of rocket launchers, some really big jets, and a warp drive. Not too bad for a small craft. I met up with some traders too and made some credits. Then I started checking out some of the other planets in the system. One is a ball of ice, rich with warp fuel, the other... well, it's got a nice selection of all kinds of materials, loads of POI's, and plenty of hostiles. I set off for a good place to set up a stronghold here, but nowhere was particularly good, so I opted to do the only thing I could think of, and used the terrain to my advantage. I give you: Deep Thought. Built into a mountain, Deep Thought is quite luxurious, with a T2 Repair bay, Advanced Constructor, ample storage, and even a Foundry inside that doesn't leave you wanting an ice bath. Seen from the air from the only viable approach, Deep Thought let's you know what's on it's mind: And the pair of Flak turrets above the entry pack enough fire power to mean it. Drone Bombers make regular raids, so I've been spending a good bit of time picking up their pieces, while working on major project #2. With a few hundred tons of mountain on top of me, and some big cannons keeping the drones at bay, I set to work on a very utilitarian HV. I present - The Landshark With a pair of mining lasers, a pair of plasma turrets, a missile turret and a lawn mower on the front, the Landshark is a high-performance semi-autonomous resource collector, high-speed transport, and mobile long-range weapons platform. I was quite pleased with how this turned out, and it's loads of fun to drive on top of it. Seems some of the locals hold some pretty deep grudges, as I've attracted the attentions of some Alien Assassins. Less fortunate for them, approaching Deep Thought is close to suicidal, and when that door rolls up and there's a Landshark on the other side... it's a very short, very bad day for someone. I am tempted to put the Landshark up on Steam because I simply couldn't be more impressed with it.
No, I am not saying this. I am fine with the max number of weapons allowed per CV. I do not like the fact that most types can not open fire on planets on single player mode. And now some renovation I have done till now....Original CV is Orca II by @The Tactician[ Λ ] . I just wanted to give it a different look and utilise it as a cargo and ship hauler.
Last night I discovered that hangar doors leak when it rains! Did the devs not foresee them being used in this way? Poor Red, he's always upset about something. Well last night it was the rain of course. He said some bad words and the part I can repeat was "And the roof is leaking!" Joe pointed a determined finger at Red and replied, "It's all your fault! You're always yelling at me and I can't even think. Some day I ought to--" and the rest is not for sensitive ears! I left them to it and made preparations for the necessary mission: Destroy the Drone Base! I joined my factionmates for our mission briefing in the living room (I haven't build the Mission Control Room yet.) So I began because I led the team last. I asked @rucky if he'd like to lead but he didn't feel up to it. We may one day convince him to try. The command passed to @Friendly Timo instead and he gave the briefing for our mission plan. We didn't actually know the location of the Drone Base, so our first task of the mission was to scout together so we could engage as soon as we find it. It was super fun to fly in formation! Along the way we found the Xenu Mainframe. We all loved the sights and I wanted to wait and get a picture of the lightning before moving on, and thankfully no one seemed to mind enjoying the sights a few moments longer. Then we carried on, and soon located the base and its defensive outposts. Taking out all the turrets was amazing fun! All of us swooping and diving and taking out targets left and right! That was the best part of the mission. Unfortunately we got that drone base that's designed to be taken out with an SV. I hope this one gets changed because I just think it's stupid and not fun to use a vessel to take out the interior of a POI. It's a *bleeping* waste of a POI in my opinion! There are so few opportunities to do footsoldiering, and someone wastes it on a vessel design! It's as if, back in the day, everyone in the forums were talking about how they take vessels into POIs and ravage them in a minute or two--so some designer was like, "I'll build a base that can put up a little more fight." I don't know, have I told you it's *bleeping* nonsense? We did try it on foot and it went badly of course. When we got to the bottom level of the place, we made a tactical plan to take the northern door blocking us inside the elevator shaft. We took it and all hell broke loose. In the heat of combat there are no commands of course and we need to trust each other and fight for each other. Almost immediately, something shot out the elevator blocks. We got the command to retreat and I jumped up to the floor above, and I chugged down a few bottles of berry juice to heal up. (Healing meds in the game are really unappealing to construct because their recipes take so much and don't even heal you all the way. If a trauma kit healed 500 hp it would be more worth it, but much easier to grow berries and bring juice on your field trip--just like when you were a little kid. ) I healed up and asked Timo for orders. He was frustrated and said, "Just fight." I followed orders and died very quickly. He and @rucky tried to cover my backpack so I could retrieve it. I respawned and took another SV up to the *bleeping* deck to enter the POI again (because it's a vehicle only dumb *bleep* *bleeping* *bleep* indeed.) So Timo died too and took the last SV up to the roof. I secured his backpack because it was nearby, but when I attempted the jump back up the elevator shaft, I failed and fell backward into the killzone. Disoriented for a split second, I again died of course. I respawned in an area where a Zirax patrol managed to go unseen when we were taking out all the Zirax and crawlers we could find. So I ran around to the other side of the base to take cover. I was met by a swarm of spiders, so I logged off the server until the situation was under control because I had no means to protect myself and couldn't get back into the base because all the SVs were up there. @Friendly Timo finished it with an SV, as the lame place was designed for. Yes it's fun to do combat in an SV, but doing it in a POI is stupid. I'm going to delete this base from our game I think because there are drone bases that are fun and designed for footsoldiers. That's what I enjoy in a raid, not lame BS like that. Anyways, it all sucked and we went home to get into the wine supply. We got double drunk, and I partied on the furniture upstairs before we went to the real kitchen underground and finished our boohooing there. Then we got to check out the new CV @rucky spawned, and I made a silly joke but I ended up having to explain it. Well, I guess it's because it wasn't a funny night, but the deed is done and we can get back with enjoying the actual well designed, fun POIs.
It's been a busy few days since we took our game from local host to dedi as more players showed up for this iteration... Converted one of the wrecked enemy orbital defenses as a staging point to space Since then, we've been to lava planets , scouted temperate planets , made contact with other civilizations for trade , been to ice moons and spent some time on an ice planet (not in the same orbit)... it had large Nd and very large Co deposits! And finally as in real life, orbital manufacturing is the ultimate key to survival. Took over an abandoned base and farm in a desert world's north polar region- but put a manufacturing facility in polar orbit (easy to see where to go back down to ). It has 12 solar panels carefully oriented and delivering 3.81Mw of continuous power. I could easily have three each advanced constructors and furnaces running simultaneously without touching the battery- or adding more panels...
I still worry that trying to teach the Game Code how to pull such like this off AND avoid Exploitation would be too big a Can of Worms... I think Geo's CU System is still a better way to go. In addition to this, I wouldn't say no to Implementation of Bigger Gunz.
@The Tactician[ Λ ] I finally got off my arse and finished the Cylon Basestar today. Combat steel just wasn't going to fly without a lot more thrusters so I opted to use hardened steel instead. I'm thinking of making a version with landing gear.
I was debating sharing these pics. I thought I might wait until the fixes made it to the workshop, but every time I was loading this page to see if there were any new posts, it was showing the draft for an entry I ended up deciding ought to be posted in its own thread because it would have been a distraction to this topic. After this last time, I decided that I would share these pics in the hopes that it would stop showing the draft of the other post at the bottom of my viewing this thread. Spoiler: Pics I think I mentioned that my Trike was cousin to the Steamer Duck. On the left is the original Trike. On the right is the proposed revision. Like with the Steamer Duck, the revised version is heavier but cheaper, with the addition of armor station and detector. Originally, the Desire was my unarmed starting HV. However, I now have several racing HV without any guns built from only the starting materials. I decided that the Desire would not only get an overhaul to make it more suitable starting HV, it is probably past time it actually got some sort of weapon to defend itself and the player. Looks quite different without the open cockpit.
