I'll get a screenshot from him later, but interesting thing happened to my youngest today.. he went into godmode to look at the top of our CV, wanting to be sure the SV he was building would dock properly if he needed to piggyback for a long jump. (I already smacked him for not using his drone). Anyway, he did this while standing in a depression left by flattening a landing pad. Apparently, doing this is the secret to near-instantaneous acceleration to lightspeed. I looked up at his shout, and just caught his toon disappearing into the clouds above. He literally launched into orbit from a standing rest in a couple of seconds- and didn't stop there. When he finally stopped moving, he was in a weird, distorted starfield with all kinds of odd graphical glitches. The only thing he could see was a map marker for the smelter I dropped over the planet's pole. It showed as being nearly 25,000 AU away....
I did give them work. Red and Joe do repairs in the hangar (they're in front and one step to the left from the Repair Console, and another guy across the hangar just quietly monitors the condition and maintenance schedules for all major components of each vessel that comes in to dock. Unfortunately, these two have a love hate relationship. One time I tried to get Joe to sit down and stop pointing at Red, it gets him all worked up. But Red yelled at me for trying to take Joe away from him, and Joe used that expressive finger to show me his displeasure.
This afternoon I've been working on a new Expedition Base, called Deep Cold. It's about 60% finished. Here are some exterior progress shots. There will be turrets up top, but small SVs will be able to land on the flat roof and players can jump down to the balcony and go inside that way. This base has three faux fireplaces to enhance the winter lodge feel, and the two chimneys required for them. I haven't finished the upper floor yet and might be adding windows in the back. We'll soon embark on our first expedition, and I'm really looking forward to it. I'll have the base ready for us pretty soon, but we'll need to do some logging! (Some wood is actually combat steel, but real wood is also used liberally throughout.)
k so im working on a indy style space station hub since my AEGIS HQ was a huge success i thought over time ill build a Acher Station 01
Ladies and gentlemen, friends and acquaintances, and especially people who remember my creations ... For a long time I did not create anything with the coming version of Alpha 8 I'm starting to build and continue in generation X .... Please do not be confused this is just its cockpit .... And as you know I need time, a lot of time because the shape I want for I'm trying hard and creating something as colossal as I want time.
And here's the screenshot. Unfortunately, he didn't get one of the marker, but take a look at his position. IIRC, the value was 24,822AU from the smelter, which is @1500m from the planet
Havent done yet…. But... It has begun - the SEA Mothership! Spoiler This is just a very simple 'outline' for orientation, it'll be bigger than my Sephrajin Carrier in the end. And it shall be able to land… on moons only (if large enough) I just hope I get my placings close to how my drawings looked in my Imagination.
I made a new workshop save last night and got back to work on upgrading my CV's again when I realized something. ... the devs changed hot heat radiates from thrusters in version 8.x. In the past it was like a star around the thruster, heat 1 block in the 6 directions around it, you could mount things diagonally from them and be safe. No longer, not the heat radiates in a full circle around the small thrusters, and many of my ships that used to be safe are not. <sigh> I thought that I only needed to add medical bays, I thought wrong. Now I need to completely rethink my thruster configuration on many of my builds to make them safe for the player again. Gears are turning, I will make my builds safe again.
I have been slowly working on my HVs. Some HVs are unaffected, or I have chosen that I will leave them as they are, but I am finding myself touching many of my completed HVs. Some for minor issues. Others for major flaws under 8.0. And a few to adjust for changes in the game to allow the HV to still serve its intended function. Spoiler: Pics of a couple more fixes in progress The Kiwi only had a minor radiation leak from a fuel tank. Moving all the fuel tanks to the outside of the vessel as this solves the problem as well as reminds users that this is not a combat vessel. I suppose it also makes it more apparent that the Kiwi has 6 fuel tanks. Unlike my defensive HVs, this remake is not only cheaper, it is actually .3 tonnes lighter. Detector added and better access to internals. Now to texture and paint the new version. Now this revision below is an expansion of the Cassowary, making the front tougher. I had really grown to love my little Cassowary light tank before some changes to combat. It went from challenging some fortresses to a point that the weak front windshield meant I couldn't take on more than two turrets on a POI. So the pilot seat got moved back two blocks for two extra layers of armored glass, which the meant the back end got extended as well. With the extra space doubled the fuel tanks and added a detector. Part of the weight increase is the very front outer shell being upgraded to "combat steel" as well. Not sure I like the overall new look. Might sit on this a little before pushing the change to the workshop, including some field testing.
A little trip... Awesome scenery... Lost a thruster... The repair bay has roof now... Also finished the wall... Now the guards are about to revolt, because I risk their lives by not providing them with the means to do their jobs, namely BA spotlights...
Spoiler! Don't read this post, if you have not dicovered that specific building during the robinson protocol mission and want to find things out by yourself. To read part 1 and my very first post in this thread follow this link and click on the postings: https://empyriononline.com/threads/what-did-you-do-in-empyrion-today.2826/page-666#post-252826 Sorry for this. I posted them via my steam account and now made a seperate account here. Unfortunately it was not possible to connect the content. Part 2 Finally i went to my homebase. It's ugly and bunker-like but i decided to post a pic of it. Don't blame me for the poor design. It's only a temporary survival base. I used the ressources for equipment and HV/SV parts instead of decoration. Bt it has a balcony ;-) It's an old pic. Now the base is bigger (still as ugly, as it was before), to have some place for growing plants and a bed and a locker. I prepared some food, meds and ammunition and of course the two turrets. I repaired my HV and modified it with some cheap mounting for the guns. The HV is ugly too, because it was some (not so ugly) purchased vessel and i lost some decoration parts and added new functoin parts without caring about style. You can only have a look at it's back (believe me, it's better not to view it from another side *haha*). But you can see the turrets at the front sides. (Note to self: switch off HUD Displays next time, making a photo). I grabbed my spare pistol and headed back to the reactor. The front door was waiting for me (and three of the scary insects behind it, too). But my vehicle managed to defend them brave and effective. So i could get my belongings back. *Yeah* Armed with proper gear again, i could disable some point defenses and a spawner in the hangar (garage). I had to manually fire one of my turrets to do so, because i forgot to install a mounted front gun. (Next time i'm going to attack buildings, i will surely add one to my HV). Finally entered the hangar, i remembered of my drone. (I should really make more use of it). So i discovered, that what i had seen so far of this buildiung was only the top of the iceberg. It was so dangerous and full of these creatures down there, that i just cut two holes through the ceiling, to take the leftovers from the former inhabitants out of some unguarded containers. Now this time i was rational (and my inventory as well as all the cargo space - even the fridge - was full of loot), i decided not to risk my life by walking deep down into the danger zone. Plus: i'm bad at these sort of solo intruder missions. But: the stuff i got out of the cargo containers so far was great and very helpful. Some things i'm even not able to produce yet. And i saw a lot more containers! I thought about building an intruder HV. The corridors looked wide enough for this. {Comment: And here it comes to the reason, why i like these kind of game most: If you don't want to do a task in one way, you can easily find another way. And if you don't have the right vehicle for doing so, you can easily create one.} So this HV will need to be very small. But it must have space for one front gun and two turrets (front and rear). And it needs lot of cargo space. I'm curious, if i can manage to develop a vehicle, that machtes all these needs and still fit inside the corridors. The alternative is not going there again and go on with the normal routine. Or going there and die often *hahaha* But i don't like dying so much (as if anybody would do). Because my PC is a bit slow it's really no fun to walk down there. So the story will be continued... Btw: i will make a pic of the HV, when i got it ready. Prepare for another ugly vehicle. But it will have to have a very minimalistic design. Don't worry. As soon as i'm sure, what i'm doing on this world (beside of staying alive and try to figure out what happened, where i am and where i should go from here), i will care about design much more. Because i like details and the building options are great (esp. in comparison to starmade).
