Wondering what the smallest size a temperate planet can be ? I wanted to make a very small one of mostly water for a random pvp ship combat event I want to run. I am having a little trouble making a planets from scratch atm, gives errors about temperatures and stuff. Resizing an existing planet seems to be not good idea either. I am just lacking knowledge and exp with this tool. Though I am able to edit existing planets to suit my needs rather easily. Could someone possibly generate a smallest possible temperate playfield for me to manipulate. Or link me to where I could find one. If the smallest is 3 then no worries I can generate one with a new seed as a starter planet and take that model. I would run a server used strictly for 1 hour to 30 minute pvp events advertised in forum daily. A single playfield server, well aside from the orbit that wont be used much. Hosting daily pvp games in a format similar to fortnight. Squads, 50/50, single. I could use whatever playfield i want to suit particular scenario for any particular event. I need a smallest temperate planet for a boat battle. Any help with this would be appreciated. I want to inject a bit of daily pvp action in the forum community that anyone can hopefully enjoy.
The smallest planet you can have is Class 2. You can even generate and edit the planet any way you want using SSG. Go to the EGS installation directory: X: \ SteamLibrary \ steamapps \ common \ Empyrion - Galactic Survival, where X is your installation disk. In this directory you will find a program called "SolarSystemGenerator" With it you can create and edit the planet you want, choosing the size of it.
Thanks for that I will give it another try but have tried twice recently to use SSG and it does not seem to function in any way shape or form for me apart from actually loading up. Nothing is selected or loadable.
Ok I was able to get it working, though on this huge screen with limited 1280 720 res, I simply can not read any of the displayed float text around the map area or in the warning area at the top I was able to generate a size2 temperate playfield with water, i just cannot seem to save it, instead it seems it just wants to export it to the playfield folder and overwrite the template I used, so now i screwed up the default template of the game. I tried to change the export folder, ble bleh and now the tool don't work anymore lol and it wont let me reset to factory. I just get red errors in the top of the screen that I simply cannot read. I will wait it out I think, I am usually pretty adaptive at learning new software but that ssg just drove me crazy and still never figured out how to save the playfield. Actually using the tool was simple enough, the settings for planets etc i was able to do all that. Just no simple save to button that could have saved me a ballache and from breaking the tool. EDIT: I have made large custom universes using EPD and EPG in concert in the past, was a learning curve but learned a lot. SSG seems like a useful tool. I am maybe too heavy handed because I broke it just by looking at it and even when i finally exported my new playfield it would not open in epd so i presume that is now a broken playfield. I give up lol If anyone can simply generate me a size 2 temperate playfield and stick it here, im not asking for any special requests, just save it as size 2 any seed and send me and I will do the rest. This SSG fails hard for me giving me nothing but frustration.
Much appreciated buddy, And I will get this ssg figured out at some point, its a useful looking tool, like I said I was able to make the planet i wanted and see the 2d or 3d overlay map as well as my changes updating on it. Just could not save it xD Thanks again !
I fixed it, deleted line 24 completely, playfield loads in EPD now, thanks you @TK85 I did get it right originally it seems its just that ssg corrupts the playfield after saving for some reason on that line with the groundfogheight, so deleted that and it loads fine in epd.
That should not happen. I just tried @TK85 s playfield and it opens just fine in EPD without any errors. Do you have the latest version? Line 24 is the GroundFogHeight. That value type recently changed from integer values to floats to allow working with the SSG again. /jmc
hmm That is probably the problem I had @jmcburn I must be a version or 2 behind. Ok I confess, I may on occasion, neglect to update certain things XD Thanks for the heads up buddy.
Thanks for the help guys and here is a PvP Event I made using a size 3 snow planet I was finally able to generate after both your help https://empyriononline.com/threads/pvp-sv-team-v-team-event-20-00-gmt.43236/#post-266826 You are invited to attend, should be fun ^-^
