If only Eleon games studios could, do you think it would be fun?

I was looking at unity and started thinking why this game (Empyrion), and others in a similar genre appealed to me, then we had the ability to use "seeds" to change conditions of our gameplay and started thinking if game creators could make a game that randomized the environment in such a way to make almost limitless environments, while "visiting" other planets by flying to them is great and gathering resources is cool "coding" each planets environments is a challenge to make them interesting.

    The ideal.

Anybody remember the TV show Sliders?

If so it was a great show about people traveling from earth to earth and each one different from the others.

Now if you take that same ideal and build a game around that, the ability to build GV's of all types, maybe go out in some environments and work with NPC'S to earn "credits" to buy or get items so on your travels thru the random environments where you could land in an unfriendly world you have the ability to survive on unfriendly or limited resources planet where between your "slide" you can sell stuff on limited resources worlds to make big credits or on a hostile planet NPC'S could be more interested in you because your resources, survival would always depend on what kind of world you land on and that can be always changing because each "slide" would roll a different seed or you can just program your seed and see what you get.

I don't know so much could be added to this to code different scenarios and the engine generate environments, resources, NPC'S, missions, trade, resource gathering, to give you something random each time, but it would be a hell of a build at first.

We have a random seed generator already.

Is what your saying is that you would like a map editor of some form so you can customize planets and a way to insert them into the games generator, like your map would replace a seed number already in the game....?

    Because that I would +1.

So you are saying that you would build like a device in game that would essentially create another universe using a new seed while in your current game save.

So instead of creating more universes you can travel between (back and forth), add a One-Way-Parallel-Universe-Jump-Engine for CV, wich using the present Seedgenerator and only saves your CV? Could be interesting for "lategame" if you run out of resources but I can see a conflict with multiplayer there.

So seed numbers are like parallel universes. So if you didn't like your current universe you install a parallel universe jump drive to another universe giving you a option to choose another seed number? And what tech level would you think you need to be in order to make a parallel universe jump drive to warp your CV to another seed (universe)? If I'm understanding this correctly.

If so if they did something like this I would see it as something very high leveled tech like level 500 or something in the tech tree. Cause even though you might hate your universe jumping to another one isn't something that is done often in fact it proboly hasn't be done at all. Were talking super advanced technology here.

Also what would happen to your old stuff in your old universe does it vanish or would it be possible to link 2 universes together with a wormhole or a conduit of some kind? Or a more advanced round way drive to go back and forth but use enormous amount of power?

I don't know the TV-Show OP was talking about. I just wrote how I understand his request more as question than as suggestion. But how I understood, it's a one-way-jump with now way back to your old stuff, expect the CV you doing the jump with.

I also think it should be a very advanced tech, thats why I was talking about CV. Probably emptying hundreds of large fuel tanks for one jump? We can't even imagine how much energy would be needed to do such a jump :D

But OP was also talking about NPCs and some sort of credits you had to earn to progress. For that we would need another game like OP mentioned.

Yeah I can't begin to imagine how much energy you would need to get out of your old universe proboly a 10000 large fuel tanks with large fuel packs worth for one jump. If said one way trip drive is installed it would then ether self destruct or become burnt out like shorting out a huge fuse that needs to be replaced for another jump later. Which by then spending weeks of promethium mining to fill up 10000 large fuel tanks with large packs would be a chore.

This may be like trying to escape a black holes event horizon. It may take more energy then what the universe has available. You would need insane amount of energy.

I just read something about that strange dimming star they found and regarding the theroy thats alien-made structures causing the dimming. Our argument with 10000 fuel tanks is invalid I guess :(
