As usual, it starts as something simple and grew. I was lengthening the Condor so I could mount wider hangar doors, thats how it began. It ended with me completely redoing the signal logic, adding a marine barracks, mining lasers, repositioning the forward guns, in addition to lengthening the ship and putting in the wider hangar doors. Then I had my second shock for the evening, I looked at date I originally published it. Over a year and a half ago? Geez.
With the ever increasing draphic demands of EGS, I upgraded my video card and added a SSD for good measure. In so doing, I lost ALL my savegames (no biggie as most were unplayable with the latest releases) and ALL MY BLUEPRINTS!!! So it's back to square one. I'm not happy about it, but it looks real good.
How on earth did you manage to do that? Did you delete your old disk? Why? It would have been a nice backup out of your PC.
Started over from scratch on one of my WIP, a starbase for FTB. It was intended to be large enough to spawn the Turkey CV, started back in early Alpha 7. So it another of my long running projects that gets neglected as I get distracted by that next idea that catches my interest. In this case, I am glad I hadn't finished it already. When I drafted up the Goose, it was designed to fit in nearly the same spawn space as the Turkey. Maybe a little longer and wider, but not by much. In addition to a trying out a vessel quite a bit taller than my norm for its size, the Goose would fit but not as cleanly. Although I had drafted up a new base to be the FTB "Sky Nest", I had to try out the old version with the Goose. I was able to get the Goose in the box from the top, but it wasn't easy and I clearly hadn't gotten it level. Maybe with practice I would do better. However, lifting back out of the box wasn't as clean either and the Goose almost ended up twisted sideways in the box. I stopped as soon as it was clear I was hitting something somewhere and the Goose was performing an unplanned rotation inside the box. The new version of the Sky Nest BA uses an open top. I did build it with forcefields at first just to make sure they all lined up together. Then I marked which size of forcefield went where to create the planned O2 envelope over the CV pad. Once everything was marked, I removed the forcefields. This BA is not to include any gold, zascosium or erestrum in the build. To help me estimate whether I am keeping this withing size class 5 by the time I finish, I went ahead and placed a number of glass blocks to bring the device count up as a substitute for the forcefields. The glass blocks will be easier to remove than forefields with those tiny bars. Plus with the forcefields removed I can check to see if I accidentally introduce one of the ingots I have banned myself from including in the base model of this starbase.
Soooo…. Since my very best work ever just gotten so many downvotes again… after asking some 'closed community members' to counter vote vs. the trolls/haters... i'm DONE sharing my stuff. I've just removed ALL my Workshop entries, that didnt get as far as getting stars. I let those with stars be, because, they got the love they deserve.. and since ppl gave them their love.. i let it be. But those that didnt get your love, i have removed. Remaining objects… 3/92
Ouch! If you still have the old disk there are some freeware and trialware file recovery utilities that may help.
If you have not seen it yet... You really should: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1505870183&searchtext=robotron
so many are giving up on builds do to the downvote system @Hummel-o-War is there any way to change it, it causes a lot of drama, at least if anything disable the voting system or something lot of players get very upset
i dont blam you, but remember bro thats what they want, we should unit together not give up over this!
Well… I tried to be positive, and gave others upvotes… I tried to be postive and included other bases into my scenario… I now just ask myself WHY? Or for what? Just so my stuff gets downvoted the moment it hits the frontpage? Nah… Why should i promote other stuff in my Scenario while my stuff gets downvotes i ask you?! I'm doing (now) a last try with the vertigo explorer X, sharing on the WS. But for everything else… there was enough time for ppl to like it... 100-400 Subs (most around 30-60 Subs thought), but not a single star, and those items that have stars, have almost (or more than) 50% downvotes… I'm tired of giving positvie Feedbacks, while receiving (more) hate. Or beeing taken as 'granted'...
Thanks a lot, @Fractalite. The pad is the Pharos PV base, don't know if I already released it. For the interior, you would be disappointed, there are just box-shaped rooms next to box-shaped rooms. Pragmatism for the win I guess...
Steam is as reluctant to remove the "Down-vote" button as it is Facebook. Sometimes one could think they are related. Lets give the SteamWS an heartfelt Arsekick and let us place our BPs here https://empyriononline.com/forums/building-and-blueprints.30/ So they will never get lost, get missing by Steam Hiccups or hardware failures on our PCs Only here you get the appreciation of your Fans and the praise you deserve
I had a little nostalgia.... The rest of the images can be found in the 'Epic screenshots' thread. The two HVs used are : Navalha's Tron Bike 1.0 Siege's Tron Light Car They are the best tron vessels in empyrion so go give them thumbs up for both.
Three of the four HVs I made recently all got the downvote treatment. No one likes the army jeep. Apparently it wasn't even worth downvoting. lol! Oops! I spoke too soon. Someone went and gave the army jeep a little 'love'. lol
Build for yourself, do not even look at the votes (up or down). Thats what I do, I have no idea how many up and down votes my creations have. Do not let trolls ruin your enjoyment. Agreed.
So I tried making a lower level version of the Phantom-X. Here is the result, the Phantom-X2 https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1506869019
Sorry to hear this, but I totally understand. I always enjoyed your work. I routinely have as many or more downvotes than subs. There's no way all of those players subbed my build and actually tried it out. This is evidenced by the lack of comments and feedback. There are about 30-50 players who use my builds. 50 subs will never put me at the top and I could not care any less. I build and create for those 50 players. If someone likes my work, they will follow me on the workshop. When I publish, they get an alert in their activity feed, and can go directly to my item, bypassing the front page. A few players have PMed me to say they love to check up on all their favorite builders to see what's new. Some of them are shy and don't like to comment publicly. Those are my people. Art lovers who like to spend time going through 5 pages of CVs. So then, it is a tale of 2 workshops: The front page and politics, and the true Operators who look at all the builds. Said that, I also rage-quit from time to time. Its a long haul Once, a player PM'd me to see what was wrong. They told me that the game is very important to them, and seeing the new creations was a huge part of their day. They actually apologized for not commenting, and explained to me how stress affects them- they just need to play, they cannot comment or interact at that time. That was when I realized that the game, the workshop - even my own creations- is not just about me..... As Rainyday has reminded us, this is a Steam issue, (and IMO, unlikely to change.) However, I do believe it is a valid topic here. Developers can have an influence with Steam if we get together on the issue.
