anyone have any idea on the maximum number of allowed planets the SSG can generate ? ive tried 1000 just proceeded to lock up this is for my own knowledge as i am testing the servers capabilities to handle large plyfields...any help or insight would be much appreciated .
moved the number to 700 let the ssg sit for an hour unresponsive ...total cpu and ram usage sitting at a normal pace the whole time ... current pc specs are CPU _______________________________________________________ AMD FX-6100 17 °C Zambezi 32nm Technology AMD FX-6100 Cores 6 Threads 6 Name AMD FX-6100 Code Name Zambezi Package Socket AM3+ (942) Technology 32nm Specification AMD FX-6100 Six-Core Processor Family F Extended Family 15 Model 1 Extended Model 1 Stepping 2 Revision OR-B2 Instructions MMX (+), SSE, SSE2, SSE3, SSSE3, SSE4.1, SSE4.2, SSE4A, AMD 64, NX, VMX, AES, AVX, FMA4 Virtualization Supported, Disabled Hyperthreading Not supported Fan Speed 3648 RPM Bus Speed 200.0 MHz Rated Bus Speed 2199.9 MHz Stock Core Speed 3300 MHz Stock Bus Speed 200 MHz Average Temperature 17 °C RAM __________________________________________________________ 16.0GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 799MHz (11-11-11-28) Motherboard __________________________________________________________ BIOSTAR Group A960D+ (CPU 1) 17 °C Motherboard Manufacturer BIOSTAR Group Model A960D+ (CPU 1) Chipset Vendor AMD Chipset Model 780G Chipset Revision 00 Southbridge Vendor AMD Southbridge Model SB700 Southbridge Revision 00 System Temperature 17 °C Graphics ___________________________________________________________ ELEFW248 (1360x768@60Hz) 4096MB ATI Radeon RX 560 Series (XFX Pine Group) 45 °C 45 °C ATI Radeon RX 560 Series Manufacturer ATI Model Radeon RX 560 Series Device ID 1002-67FF Revision D0 Subvendor XFX Pine Group (1682) Current Performance Level Level 0 Current GPU Clock 214 MHz Current Memory Clock 1500 MHz Current Shader Clock 1500 MHz GPU Clock 1295.0 MHz Temperature 45 °C Core Voltage 103149.206 V Driver version 22.19.162.4 BIOS Version 113-P21_XT_4G_D5_170217_HM_1500_SF_W8 Memory Type GDDR5 Memory 4096 MB Bandwidth 96.0 GB/s Storage __________________________________________________________ 250GB Samsung SSD EVO ATA Device (SATA) 20 °C 931GB Seagate ST31000524AS ATA Device (SATA) 38 °C Optical Drives __________________________________________________________ LITE-ON DVDRW SOHW-1633S ATA Device TSSTcorp CDW/DVD TS-H492A ATA Device Audio __________________________________________________________ AMD High Definition Audio Device Audio Sound Cards High Definition Audio Device AMD High Definition Audio Device Playback Device 1 - ELEFW248 (AMD High Definition Audio Device)
after much playing with this and moving the numbers from 1000 down in 50 increments the ssg would not respond until 249 planets... thats counting the sun, asteroidfields and space trading stations as planets # solar system SectorPlanets: - TemperateStarter, [1] - AridStarter, [1] - Snow, [32] # +1 used as neighbor - Arid, [32] # needed for resources - Desert, [32] - Barren, [32] - Temperate, [46] - Lava, [32] - Alien, [32] SectorPOIs: - Sun, [1] # one sun/star playfield is mandatory - AsteroidField, [4] - SpaceTradingStation, [4] so i guess the magic number is 249
Great to know but I suspect the playable range should be around 20 or so planets And by that I mean actualy being able to play at a reasonable pace and load times
Yep, much more than about 30 playfields and it starts to take a LONG time to load into the game. This is because all the playfields are generated on game start now instead of waiting until you visit them like it used to.
we typically run 160 playfields ...with around a 1 to 3 min load time depending in internet speed of person conneting to our dedicated server .....that timer is decreased once the playfield's are loaded for the first time ...i just wanted to push it farther the 160 has been runing ok since the end of alpha 8 EXP was alot of fun jumping into no mans land and exploring ...not to mention the addition of custom planet thrown in there such as 85 and 99% water with nice tropical sytle beaches makes a great place for hv boats
The scenario I made for use on my brother's private dedicated server had 123 planets and 479 total playfields and ran just fine. About a 3-5 minute load time on connection to the server but ran flawlessly otherwise. No idea if you'd run into any issues later on though.
i havent been able to get it over 249 planets ...not playfields .... when i set to 250 it just sits there ..... here is the preview of 249 planets generated with ssg then organized a little with EPG ... SilvRave how can we get the ssg to gen 500 ? this i must know ? also i have the screens below up and running in the server to test and it is working good so far .... pushing to start the server to create them all is a pain however lol !!!
yeah ....thats the bigger question lol 249 more chances for any one of them to bug lol because you have to actually go to each one and the server file gets bigger and bigger as time goes on and they are all uncovered and visited.
i uploaded my gamesave that i posted the screenshots of along with the solarsytemcfg.yaml its built on seed 686185 for the community ... https://www.dropbox.com/s/179ohp0cldi57hc/249-planets-seed-686185.zip?dl=0 the sectors file has been modified with EPG to look as the screenshots show .. if anyone is interested. the setup is purely random and untouched outside of the arrangement. also this was generated yesterday under the current patch.
I actually really like those warp lanes. The default random generator makes warp lanes zigzag everywhere. How long did it take you to fix up those warp lanes?
round 30 mins or so with EPG ....thanks to Jascha and Rexxxus this feature should really be considered for the SSG ...imo
